I am a caged bird,
But I can be free,
Only if I want to be.

So badly I want to be free,
But the society won't let me (See more) be.

You are a girl you can't be free,
They say the boys will snatch away my respect from me.

From a young age they create a fright,
That girls shouldn't be out at night.
If a girl goes out in night,
Then her character is not right.
If a girl stays out whole night,
Then she is given the title of a sl*t.

Boys can do whatever they want,
But you can't since you are a girl.

Boys can enjoy their life a lot,
But you can't because you are a girl and it's your fault.

Boys are strong so they can fight,
But you are not so you can't ask for your right.

From the very begining girls are taught,
You are weak so you can not talk.
Even if something wrong is done with you,
You are at fault so don't talk.

Everyday girls are being raped,
Boys are snatching our respect away.

The raped girl is suffering a lot,
But no one will bother the rapist at all.

No one will ask what the rapist wore,
But everyone will question about the girls costume.

If she wore a short dress then she is a sl*t,
Even if she covered her self then also she is at fault.

What's her fault if it's asked,
She is a girl, they will answer.

No one will ask the boy why he was out at night,
But everyone will ask the girl saying her character is not right.

No one will question the boys character,
But everyone will point their fingers at her.

Even after this the girl won't protest against it,
Cause she's been taught that she was at the fault.

Once in a while a fighter girl is born,
Who will try to fight for her own.

But even if she fights to establish her respect,
Nothing will be done to help her in that.

She will fight with all she can,
But she will be the sufferer of a new case again.

She will be the sufferer of acid throwing or s*xual harassment,
By the rapist and his men.

The girl will suffer her whole life,
But the rapist will be free to play with another life.

Day by day, gradually,
Her soul will be taken from her within.

The rapist will survive but the girl will die,
But it's her fault nobody will deny.

Slowly she will die from inside,
One day she will give away her life.

Even after all these, the rapist won't be punished,
And the society will point her fault even after she's vanished.

Everyday I see this in front of me,
But that can't take the will to be free from within me.

So I decided to fight against it,Not with weapons but with words,
I am ready for the changes to be brought.

Everyday I make them understand,
Nothing can be done if you don't change.

No one listen to me as I am small,
But that doesn't make me hopeless at all.

Cause I know that one day everything will change,
Also the society and it's evil clutches,

I know I am still a caged bird,
But I also know that I can be free,
And enjoy my life as I wish.

Not only me but all girls will be free,
From the evil clutches of the society.

So everyday I wish for the same,
For our society to be changed.
So that the world can be safe for all,
Not only boys but also girls.
From then not only boys ,
But also girls will get their freedom.

But freedom isn't something which is got from birth,
It is something which needs to be earned.
So we, the girls should should learn to fight To earn our freedom and live an actual life.

~The End~

Renimarenju Gandhiji once said that when women of india can freely walk on midnight 12 pm, in real sense we can say we have achieved freedom....I don't remember the exact quote, but read this one few years back ......And that hasn't happened till now and don;t know whether it can happen in near future also

Renimarenju Whatever you have portrayed here is the pathetic reality only......While going through this one many incidents flashed on my mind, my dad never wanted me to study in a college and it was so hard to convince him..... I remember the day when i left village and went mysore for joining college and that was the first time i was visiting a big city like mysore, throughout journey he was scolding me only..... When my semester examz were announced and every student has to pay sem fee and hostel fee, i informed this to my dad, he said .....why should I give u money ?? You are a girl and one day you have to leave ur home and then u will get entry pass in any other family......I won't get any benefit by your so called degree,if you are a boy then that's the pride of dad that his son is doing higher studies......My fate second time also your mom conceived a girl child.......That days those words were heart breaking, but those harsh words truely made me to understand that I have to broke the chains....Every girl/woman has a story to tell and she is much stronger than boy,but socitey mostly degrades her......

shekhar I would like to, with sigh, condemn your father for being so orthodox! I know one couple living just opposite to my house, lady was making somewhat fast food and man was earning out of tailoring. Both were working hard since 5AM morn to late night 11pm and grew their three girl and made them higjly educated. One is doctor, another is MScgold medalist and third one engineer. All three gals were used to take great care of their parents. One fine morning, eldest daughter give him two bed room furnished flat as gift. I still remember that man used to come our house to demand the discount letter for note books each and every year, and even though being in great crisis, any how they could be able to educate their all three daughters what all they gals wished for. I was amazed to find a fact, how much he and his wife both were most forward in their thought process even after both had never seen the beyond 6th standard?!

Renimarenju I really respect these parents and those lucky daughters , In my case things were different. When i wanted to pursue studies , my mom first said one thing why the hell you needs to go college ? I said mom you should also continue studies and she said there is no use of it as she is a woman..... After getting constant discourages also I was so adamant to get degree in commerce.....My elder sis who was at her final year in college said me why renu, it's going to be hard.....parents can't bear expense of two girls, one need to compromiseand moreover your one eye is affected and lefty, like my parents she also blamed me lot .......I cried a lot and she didn't looked my face.....But I filled application form and joined college within a week itself and my sis didn't liked it......Interesting this is dad make the best efforts to meet my sister's needs , her exam fee will be paid in right time and she was topper of college whereas i was never a topper ,but maintained a fair level of marks and percentage.....So obviously comparison was high , the first sem fees were paid by one of my room mates, but after that I decided I should find a way and what i find in my college was some girls working at college canteen as part time and I realized instead of sitting and crying, I should utilize this golden opportunity and join with them.......I am thankul to those friends who taught me so many things and they said why we should ask dad ? if a boy can do a part time job and can also continue studies then girl can also do it....Those friends were everything to me and I was so lucky to have them in life
