Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai fame Maira Dharti Mehra talks about her decision of taking a break from the industry to complete her studies
Actress Maira Dharti Mehra who made her debut on TV at the age of 5 with reality shows like Boogie Woogie, Ek Chote Champions, Rin Mera Star Superstar among others, later took a break from the industry. The actress returned to television after a long gap with the show Kumkum Bhagya.
Maira talked about the gap during a recent interview and shared, “I started working at a very young age and was really doing good on the small screen but decided to put acting on hold for studies. For me, completing my education was very important because work can be done for the rest of my life but academics shouldn’t suffer, for that, I decided to quit the industry for a few years. I love acting but I did want to achieve certain things academically and I felt that was the right time for me.”
She added, “After completing my studies, I returned to television and due to the gap, I lost all the contacts and things in the industry weren’t the same way as they were years ago. I also lost track of being in front of the camera but prepared myself to bounce back much stronger. Before returning, I did a course in acting to enhance my skills and have a better understanding of the craft. Luckily, I cracked my first project, which was Kumkum Bhagya. Obviously, making a comeback in the industry was pretty challenging but I am glad I made a way for myself.”
“I am happy with the way my career is shaping up. However, I feel that struggle and learning are two never-ending processes. I struggle each day and I learn each day, which is really a good thing. I am looking forward to many more years of new opportunities,” she concluded.
Maira is also known for role in shows like ‘Sasuraal Genda Phool 2’, ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’, ‘Tera Yaar Hun Mai’, and ‘Shaadi Mubarak’ among others.
