Even when we are miles apart…….

Karthik’s POV.
I sat in my room replaying what happened in the mall this afternoon. How dare Rithvik hurt Naira again ?!! How did he forget the treatment I gave him, the last time he raised his hand on Naira.
As I was deep in thoughts, my phone started ringing.
Naksh calling, the screen flashed !!
I answered. “What is it ?!!” I asked.
“Where are you ?!! We’ve to meet. Right now.” He said, emphasizing ‘right now’.
“At home.Why, what’s up ?!!” I asked.
“I can’t tell you on the phone, Karthik . It’s really urgent.Can you come home now ?!!” He said, a little impatiently.
“Okay. I’ll be there in like,twenty minutes, yeah ?!!” I said. Frankly I was scared now !!
“Okay hurry up.” He said and hung up without even saying a goodbye.
He never did that, unless something was really disturbing him. I could easily make out from his tone that something was up.But what ?!!
I wondered what came up so urgently…
Naksh’s POV
“I need to tell him, I need to tell him at any cost !!” I said.
I kept saying that to myself. But I had no idea what the consequences were going to be. I knew how angry he was going to be, after hearing the truth, but it was important for him to know.
I paced around the room impatiently, waiting for Karthik to come. Keerti, who was sitting on the sofa, tapping her foot on the floor continuously, was in the same condition as me.
Twenty minutes and there was a knock on the door. I opened up to see Karthik –tired and sleepy.
“Hi, is everything okay ?!!” He asked.
“No.” I said and shook my head. “Come in.”
He gave me a curious look and walked in. “What is it ?!!” He asked.
I looked over to Keerti for help, but she just shrugged. “What is going on ?!!” He asked again, more impatient this time.
I sighed. “There’s something you need to know.”
“Okay. Go on.” He said.
I can’t do this. . .
I took a long pause, and I could sense the tension in the room.Keerti looked like she had seen a ghost, while Karthik looked really curious and impatient.
“Naksh, Buddy what’s wrong ?!!” He asked.
I ignored all the thoughts that were currently crossing my mind. I did not think about the consequences. I did not think about how Karthik would feel, for I knew he would be pissed off.
I didn’t even realize that Keerti had walked upto me, and was now standing beside me.
“Tell him, Naksh.” She said, locking her fingers with mine.
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.
“Rithvik tried to kill Naira !!” I declared.
Karthik’s POV.
Rithvik tried to kill Naira ?!!
Those words ran through my mind repeatedly. So it was him !!
It was hard to believe, that Rithvik would go this far.
“What makes you think so ?!!” I asked Naksh.
He sighed. “I know I should’ve told you this thing way before. Infact I tried to,on your engagement day but then we got the news of naira’s acciedent. After that it completely left my mind.But since the day Rithvik came back, on Keerti’s birthday, something seemed different about him. Keerti noticed that too, but we decided to ignore it.”
Next Keerti spoke up. “I saw the way he looked at Naira.I knew his intentions were not good. When Naira told him about your engagement, Rithvik just stormed out without saying a word. I even tried to make Naira see what Rithvik was up to, but everytime I said something, we used to end up fighting.”
“On the day of engagement, when Keerti told us about the accident, only one person came into my mind – Rithvik. Somewhere, I knew it was him. I just wanted to be sure of it. Do you remember how he had disappeared in between ?!! ” Naksh asked.
I nodded. “He said he wanted to go back to London for some work.” I clarified.
“That was a lie. He was in Udaipur itself. He was here when Naira was in hospital. Today after we came back from mall, I went to pick up Keerti from her parents house and then, we went to the dress store where Naira had been to collect the dress. The guy who sold me the dress told me that, on the day of the engagement, before Naira came to the store, some guy came there asking for her. I showed him Rithvik’s picture and he said, it was him. The shopkeeper also said, that he saw Rithvik waiting in his car, just one block away from the store.” Naksh said.
I was shocked. I didn’t know what to say. I knew Rithvik would hurt Naira, but this time, he had crossed all his limits. He tried to kill her.
“Now you know, it’s Rithvik behind all this. He turned Naira against you when you were gone.” Keerti said.
All this time, the person who tried to take my life away from me, was right in front of me. I couldn’t see him. I couldn’t see the person who tried to hurt my Naira so much.
“He’s gonna pay for it. I won’t let that douche bag get away with this.” I said. I could feel the anger rising inside me.
“You’re right. But Karthik, we have to be careful. One wrong move, and he’ll hurt Naira first. He knows that she is our weakness.” Naksh said. I could clearly see worry for Naira in his eyes.
“I won’t let him hurt her.She has had enough of this. I’ll end it, right now.” I said, storming out of singhania sadan.
Naira’s POV.
I was at the lakeside park. All depressed and hurt. Lost in thoughts. I was in my own world of sadness when my phone started ringing.
Sighing, I answered the phone without looking at the caller ID.
“Hello ?!!” I spoke, totally uninterested.
“Hey, baby.” The voice said. Wait, I knew this voice !!
I took a look at the screen which said – Rithvik !!
Oh God, what in the world does he want now ?!!
“What do you want ?!!” I asked, rather rudely.
“You.” He said.
“Shut up, Rithvik. Wasn’t that slap on your face enough ?!!.” I sneered at him angrily.
“Okay, I’ll hang up. But don’t you want to know where your boyfriend,sorry ex-boyfriend is ?!!” He asked.
Karthik .Where was he ?!!
“What do you mean ?!!” I asked. I waited for him to respond, but he just stayed quite. With every second, my heart was beating faster, thinking of Karthik.
“Rithvik ?!! Where is he ?!! Is he okay ?!!”I asked impatiently.
“He’s with me. I’m not sure if he’s okay.” He said.
Shit !!
I couldn’t believe that Rithvik had gone this far. He was hurting Karthik ?!!
Right now, I was scared. Scared not for myself, but for Karthik . What if Rithvik hurts him ?!!
“What did you do to him ?!!” I screamed at the phone. As tears made their way down my eyes.
He chuckled. “To know that, you need to get to your Dance academy. I’ll wait here for the next twenty minutes, and if you’re not here, he’ll suffer.” He said.
“Don’t you dare hurt him !! You want me, I’ll come. I’ll do whatever you say, just let him go, please.” I cried.
“Stop it, Naira. You’re wasting my time. Get here in next twenty minutes. Your time starts now, baby.” He said, and before I could protest, he hung up.
Dammit !! He can’t hurt Karthik !! I’ve to reach there at any cost !!
I looked at the time – 7:00 pm. I had twenty minutes. I rushed out of the park. Started my car and drove off to my dance academy !!

For all those people who had asked me if Rithvik was behind Naira’s acciedent, here is your answer. I didn’t reveal it then, but I am revealing it now as its a perfect time. Now you know what Karthik will do to Rithvik !!
I have not revealed much in the precap as I wanted to create a sort of suspense. You all can guess what will happen until I post the next Chapter.
Also, I have noticed that new people have started commenting on my ff since the last few chapters but the regular readers are missing. Only 3 more chapters to go peeps, I request all those who read my work to comment.
