Anuj Sachdeva who is currently essaying the role of Chiranjeev aka Cheeru in the show Woh Toh Hai Albelaa feels that it’s easier for an actor to portray such characters and connect with the audience. The actor talked about it and more during a recent interview with BT.
Anuj said, “As an actor, it is important that the audience feels the emotions that I am trying to portray and can connect to it. Half my job is done if people look at my character Cheeru and feel, ‘Oh, this is how my elder brother is!’ or wish they had an elder brother like him.”
He added, “If the story and characters are relatable, it helps build a connection with the audience. I also believe in method acting and because of that, I have picked up references from my life and I could really connect to my character. People like the show and are talking about the bromance. This is what I have picked from my personal life and I think it really helps connect with the audience too because it becomes relatable.”
Talking about the importance of regional elements in the show, Anuj said, “If you put little nuances and a little bit of dialect, it not just helps people connect with the show but makes the audience believe in it while giving a glimpse of the concerned city or town.”
When asked about his learnings from the pandemic Anuj replied, “It is challenging when things go bad because of the waves that keep coming in. Unfortunately, the pandemic has hit everywhere in the world and it has changed the way we work and live. In fact, it has changed our whole lifestyle. The TV industry was hit hard but I would like to take it positively. Since the shows were not running like they used to, people have now started to look at TV differently. The audience must have consumed a lot of content online, and people are making shows keeping that in mind. The shows currently on air are no longer about kitchen politics, people are thinking about more out-of-the-box ideas and the content has evolved. People are trying new sequences and putting in new elements. That’s why I can say that this bonding of the three brothers is still unexplored because the shows always used to revolve around the female protagonist.”
