Bhatinda’s Sunny Hindustani became the winner of singing reality show, Indian Idol 11. He won the hearts of the audience straight from his audition days and never disappointed the judges or his fans with his singing. His soulful voice made millions his fan. Sunny, who was a shoe shiner, comes from a financially weak background and has even borrowed money from somebody to give the audition.
Speaking about his life and how it has now turned around, Sunny told The Timesofindia.com, “When I came to give the audition, I never thought I would go ahead because of the scale of this show and had lost all hopes.” The show shiner was amazed to receive golden mics in both his audition rounds. “Next minute when I received the golden mic, it was an unbelievable moment. Sunny’s mother has always been a constant support to his son but she was the one who did not approve of his dream. “I was very happy because I had fought with my mother to come here. She was against the idea of me leaving everything and doing this show because of the financial crisis and she was correct, too. My mother always said that you won’t be able to go ahead because you need money for all this.”
However, the zeal of singing and doing the show was above everything for Sunny. “I was adamant that I will go come may what. I fought with mom and borrowed money to audition for Indian Idol 11. I thought I will be kicked out of the audition round itself. Never thought I would emerge as the show’s winner.”
