Victim’s mother declared as the co-accused in the Pearl V Puri case

The victim’s mother who was declared as the co-accused in the Pearl V Puri case has been granted interim bail by the sessions court till July 2nd. The mother of the victim was declared as the co-accused because she did not inform anyone in spite of knowing about the incident

Lawyer Swapna Kode when contacted by BT said, “My client has been granted interim relief by the Hon’ble Sessions Court till 2/7. My client has been made an accused in the Pocso case and hence she has approached the court.”
She further added, “My client was forced to move the court as she was informed that she has been made an accused and the reason given was she did not inform anyone in spite of knowing about the incident so she had no option but to move for anticipatory bail and the matter has been posted for July 2.”

Actor Pearl V Puri has also been granted bail by the Sessions Court of Vasai. Pearl was in judicial custody for 11 days.
The victim’s family filed FIR in 2019 u/s IPC 376 AB, r/w POCSO Act 4, 8, 12,19, 21 at Waliv Police Station against Pearl alleging that he had s*xually assaulted the victim who was then aged 5 yrs.
