Recap: Mahendi function
She was making me crazy! Her grace, her antics, strands of hairs disturbing her, when she laughs between while talking, stare angrily and then smile was making me uncontrollable she hasn’t changed a bit. The same Ragini. What made me restless was that she isn’t looking at me even for once.
Everyone sat for the lunch and Uttara complained for leaving her alone while everyone enjoyed eating. Ragini sat on the couch beside Uttara to give her company and extended her right hand and the other girl applied the Mahendi. She was guiding about her Mahendi. She’d strictly warned her that the length of her mahendi should be short. Uttara used to talk to her probably about her fiancé and they used to have a hearty laugh. Soon Jia joined them and the threesome mingled with each other quite nicely. I was happy seeing her happy and enjoying with her ‘girlfriends’.
Now everyone was done with lunch including Uttara but Ragini and Jia were still left. Jia had been repeatedly complaining about her growling stomach. Though Ragini wasn’t showing anything like that but I know she’s hungry like I said she is the same Ragini who never complaints. Ragini’s biggest problem was who’ll feed them. Anyone from my family wasn’t going to do that for sure. Wait! A gentleman came holding a food plate. His back was facing me so I wasn’t able to see his face but what I’d clearly seen was he was getting way too much friendly with them. He kept the food plate on the dining table and both Ragini and Jia took their chairs. I changed my direction and tried to see his face. His face was a familiar one. He was the one whom I saw yesterday who came with Ragini and one of her Band partners.
“I’m not hungry Rehaan”
“Yeah Ragz! I know that” He took a spoonful of rice and took it near to her lips “Now open your mouth I have many work to do”
Ragini obeyed him like the small child. My heart ached and eyes welled up. He continued feeding them.
Laksh! Don’t think negatively everything will be alright. You’d done this mistake once now don’t repeat trust her. Keep faith in your love.
That moment I didn’t felt of doing anything. My life was now depended upon Ragini. If she leaves me again than I’ll probably die. It’s 8 PM and the party is going to start. How will Ragini look in western wear? My heart jumped in excitement.
His POV ends.
Ragini’s POV:
I got ready in a black off shoulder knee length dress. I’d set my hairs in a messy bun and wore black coloured heels and black coloured stone ring and matching jewelry. I can see myself how much I have changed. I have lost all my charm looking after my family fulfilling their so called traditions. Lastly I wore my favourite ring with ‘R’ stamped on it. Unlike others this ring always brings smile on my face. For the final time I looked at the mirror and stepped towards the hall.
As soon as I stepped in, everyone looked at me. What’s happening? Am I looking bad? Is there something funny in me? Did something went wrong? I can see Rehaan looking at me blinking his eyes nearly a time in a second and a dimpled smile occupied his face. Every step forward was making me tense. I went towards Jia and made a pout face.
“Ragz! ” She jumped in excitement and kept her hands on mine. “U r looking superb.”
Really? I never thought that way. I, unknowingly looked at Laksh, who was standing in black three piece suit tilting his head towards one of his shoulder smiling looking at me. I turned immediately and an unknown smile occured on my face.
Laksh’s POV :
She is looking so pretty today. I love her so much. I know she has faced my ups and downs in her life. Today she even gave a hope to me that there is still a chance for our relationship by looking at me.
I closely observed her and my cheeks turned red realising it, realising our colours, black. It happened two times with us in a day. I shook my head. I and Ragini were indeed meant for each other.
Uttara and Shobhit descended the stairs. I went towards them and from direction Ragini came there and Shobhit gave a bone crushing hug to Ragini. I and Uttara were left confused with his actions.
“After a long time man” He said releasing the hug.
“I was here only but where the hell were you”
I felt awkward while Uttara smiled. Do they really get jealous?
“Shobhit u know her?” Uttara asked
“Yes, I was a year junior to her” He replied “Ragini di I have listened to each and every song of yours and consistently following you”
I relaxed listening to the word ‘di’. I looked at Ragini who was smiling at his sentence. I smiled seeing her smiling, not even bothering about the surrounding.
I really wonder what would have happened if Ragini wasn’t here! No one was there beside me. I was getting bored. Sanskar and Uttara were busy with their partners and I was left alone to get bored but I managed to pass my time looking at Ragini, admiring her. Everyone present there were asking her to show her talent. Uttara and Shobhit also asked her to sing and she finally agreed. She took her guitar and went towards the stage.
She looked at me and settled her mike. I was happy deep inside, perfectly known that a song was coming for me!
He said, “Let’s get out of this town,
Drive out of the city, away from the crowds.”
I thought heaven can’t help me now.
