Twinj: When I Fell For You: Season 2 Episode 9

A quick recap: Kunj consoles Simmi as she throws tantrums due to Twinkle’s absence, the entire event is a huge success, Kunj and Twinkle teach Simmi about the importance of being humble, they relive Simmi’s childhood memories.

Twinkle silenced the alarm when it rung for the first time itself, making sure it didn’t disturb Kunj’s sleep. She smiled at him, watching him quietly as he slept peacefully, oblivious to it. She slowly freed herself from his embrace, placed a peck on his forehead gently, got off the bed, covered the duvet properly and went off to quickly get ready. Amaya’s baby shower was happening that day, and she couldn’t afford to get late. When she went downstairs, Usha was already in the kitchen, simultaneously getting the other last minute work done. Twinkle joined in quickly, and in no time, they had everything ready. Twinkle then headed to wake everyone up, asking Usha to rest for a few minutes. She went to the kids’ bedroom first, and was surprised to be welcomed by their playful laughter. She watched admiringly as Pari told Simmi how excited she was for the ceremony, and that she had slowly begun to like the baby too and was excited for its arrival. She turned around and on seeing Twinkle, ran to her cheerfully, greeting her. Simmi too followed suit, making it easier for Twinkle, for she knew waking them up would be the most tedious task she would have to perform. Once they were all dressed up prettily in their chosen Lehengas, Twinkle let them play for a while, telling them they could be called downstairs soon.

Twinkle then went to Amaya’s room, where she was greeted by Yuvi instead. “Bhaiyu? When did you sneak in?” She asked giggling, and got a playful smack in return. “I can come here whenever I want! Who’s stopping me?” He asked, sitting comfortably on the bed, as Twinkle got Amaya’s clothes and jewellery out of the wardrobe for her. “Of course! You are the son-in-law after all, treated like a king!” She teased, looking around for Amaya, who just walked out of the washroom. “There we go again! Do you guys even realise that it’s only 7 in the morning? Do you need to start your silly quarrels right now?” She asked, glaring at them. “He started it, Bhabhi!” Twinkle replied immediately, pointing at Yuvi, who gave her a ‘You are impossible!’ look. Even as Amaya sighed, giving up on them, they burst out laughing, and she joined them too. Twinkle then rushed to give Yuvi a tight hug, and he hugged her back. “I miss her so much, you know?” Yuvi said to Amaya, freeing Twinkle. It wasn’t news to Amaya, who knew how fond the two were of each other, and that they missed their fun and antics horribly. She smiled gladly at both of them, partially feeling jealous, as although she and Kunj were really close too, they never indulged in dramatic and fun conversations like these two did. Not that she regretted it, since for her, Kunj was the best brother in the world.

Twinkle was already running late when she finally got to her room, and seeing Kunj still asleep drove her crazy. She opened the curtains in a jerk and called out to him repeatedly, stating that they were going to be late, that he had absolutely no sense of how careless he was getting lately and so on. Little did she know that he was awake already, and was only having his own share of fun, pretending to be asleep and unaffected by her actions. Twinkle glared at him angrily, even as he had a hard time controlling his laughter. She quickly changed into the Lehenga that she had chosen for the ceremony and was combing her hair, still very angry at Kunj, when she saw his reflection in the mirror as he watched her without a single blink. “Kunj?” She turned around and caught him red handed. She walked over to the bed and stood there, folding her hands in front of her, narrowing her eyes at him. “Just playing a prank!” He said casually, getting off the bed. When she didn’t say anything yet, he realised she was really angry. He quickly kissed her on her cheek and said “Good morning!” Observing that that hadn’t worked either, he mumbled a ‘Sorry!’ and went to the washroom, making Twinkle giggle. He smiled to himself as he heard that, he knew how to cool her off in any situation.

Twinkle was helping Kunj button up his Kurta when Simmi walked in. “Oh! Look how handsome my Papa is looking!” She said, climbing on the bed to be able to reach his face to kiss him on his cheek. “Thank you princess! You look so pretty yourself, just like a little angel!” He said, returning her kiss. “What about Mumma though?” He asked, winking at her as he noticed Twinkle waiting for Simmi to compliment her too. “Mumma looks nice” Simmi said simply, not even casting as much as a glance at her. Twinkle smiled to herself as she watched the father-daughter duo team up against her and laugh. “Simmi, I’m so sorry I forgot about your lipstick! How about you get your oh so handsome Papa to do it for you today?” She asked innocently, while Kunj mentally appreciated her master stroke. “No Mumma!” Simmi almost screamed jumping off the bed and running over to her. “I remember Papa saying very confidently that he would take care of my makeup for my school day and then messing it up! I want my Mumma only to do it for me, after all, she’s so beautiful!” Simmi pleaded, spreading out her arms wide to show Twinkle how beautiful her ‘so’ meant. Twinkle looked over at Kunj flashing her victorious smile, while he laughed at Simmi, muttering “Chhoti Siyappa Queen!” Simmi though, turned around and made a little heart with her hands and showed it to Kunj, making sure he wouldn’t mind her switching sides.

Simmi came running when Usha called everyone for breakfast. Twinkle had been preparing a plate to be taken upstairs for Amaya. Simmi quickly took the lid off the cutlery and made a face when she saw sandwiches. “I don’t want these!” She began, gaining everyone’s attention immediately. Twinkle glanced over to Kunj’s side, hoping he would get her to eat, but before he could act, Simmi surprised them all by quietening down herself. “I’ll eat these. Sorry!” She said, remembering her parents’ talk with her the previous night. She showed Kunj a thumbs up, and he smiled at her encouragingly, while the others watched on in a shock, making Twinkle giggle. The ceremony began immediately after breakfast and was carried out perfectly.

When Twinkle finally found some respite from her never ending work and returned to their room, she found Kunj sitting on the bed, doing something on his laptop, so lost that he didn’t even notice her come in. “Kunj! Do you have to work today? Isn’t it your day off?” She complained, clearly annoyed. “So that’s why you’ve hidden the car’s keys!” He exclaimed, but she denied it completely. Right then Simmi came by, dropped the keys on the table near the door, with a “Mumma! Here, I kept them safe with me till now”, and went off to play. Twinkle shut her eyes immediately, knowing she was caught. Kunj caught her by her wrist and pulled her towards him, while she looked at him surprised. He turned the screen to her to reveal that he had been looking through the pictures of her taken in her baby shower, when she was expecting Simmi. She looked at him and the screen alternatively, and then hugged him, being overwhelmed by emotions as the memories rushed back to her. Kunj put the laptop away and held her close to himself. She quietly listened to his heart, beating for her, making her realise that there could be no place in the world she felt that kind of solace, and had fallen asleep even before she herself realised it. Knowing she was tired, Kunj decided not to disturb her. Instead, he pulled the duvet over them and turned the lights out.

That’s it for now, guys. I hope you liked it. Until next time,

Lots of love!
