Twinj: When I fell for you: Episode 40

A quick recap: Alisha revealed that Raj had seen Twinj together, Leela’s attempts to bring Twinj closer, some Twinj moments

Twinkle woke up with a sudden jerk from her sleep. She looked around and found it was still dark outside, and Kunj was sleeping peacefully beside her. She wondered why she had woken up like that, and tried to recollect if she had any nightmare. She slowly freed herself from Kunj’s warm embrace, ensuring that his sleep wouldn’t be disturbed. She gulped down some water slowly, calming herself that everything was alright.
She looked up at the clock. It was just striking four. She wanted to go back to sleep, but it suddenly struck her that there wouldn’t be a better opportunity to execute the plan she had been making since last night.

She quickly took a shower, grabbed the car keys, and left Sarna mansion at 4:30. The freezing cold weather and deathly silence in the streets enhanced the “detective feel”, as she called it, and in no time she had reached the Taneja mansion. She made a call that lasted for about two minutes, and in another five minutes, Rahul came pacing towards the car and took his seat next to her.
“What’s the plan?” He asked, but decided it would be better for him to shut up, as Twinkle was supposedly avoiding any conversation right then.

“Are you sure this is the place?” He asked again as she drove into a posh hotel in the outskirts of the city. This time around, she simply nodded, but some response was better than none at all. Having found a suitable parking spot, she got off the car, and Rahul too got down and walked over to her. She gave him some instructions, and showed him a bluetooth device. He knew what he needed to do.

He stayed back right there, while Twinkle walked to the reception. “May I help you, mam?” The receptionist asked, but before she could actually answer, she had to turn to another direction and pretend to be looking around the place, when she saw Alisha walking towards her direction.
“Thank you!” Alisha said to the receptionist, signed in the visitors’ register with her name and the number of the room she had been to, and left in such a hurry that Twinkle’s presence went unnoticed. Twinkle smirked, her work was done, she didn’t need the receptionist’s help anymore.

“Alisha is coming… Alert!” She said into the bluetooth device, and sure enough, Alisha almost ran past Rahul in about two minutes, while he managed to hide himself behind the newspaper he had been pretending to read. “What’s with all the hurry?” Rahul asked Twinkle, which made Twinkle wonder if Alisha was at the Taneja mansion at all last night. It was just about half past five, and the probability that Alisha had come there only that morning was bleak.
Twinkle rushed to the nearest elevator, and reached Raj’s room just in time to catch him close the door.

Raj gave his visitor a weird look, but let her into the room nevertheless. “How come Twinki… Uff! I mean Mrs. Twinkle Kunj Sarna honoured me with this visit, at this time?” He asked, stepping dangerously close to her. “Oh wait… Did you remember our old love story by any chance?” He continued, she could feel the satirical tone in his voice.
“Twinkle! Do you need help?” Rahul’s voice on the bluetooth device reminded her of the purpose of her visit. She rolled her eyes at Raj, while he smirked. “No beating around the bush, let’s get straight to the point, Mr. Raj…” She said sternly, making herself comfortable on a near-by sofa.

“Hmm interesting! So Twinki… Damn!! I am not even allowed to call you that now, am I?” He said, sitting on the sofa opposite to her. “Listen Raj, I’ve come here for some work, and I definitely won’t discuss anything other than that” She asserted, while he tried to think what that visit could be about.
“I’m listening” was all he could manage to say.

About half an hour later, Twinkle stepped out if his room, and went to the car, where Rahul was waiting for her, ready to go. “Hey! I’m driving!” She protested, as he took the keys and proceeded to the driver’s seat. “No. You aren’t!! I’ve already seen your amazing driving skills on the way here, now let me handle this” He said, he wasn’t unaware that she was a good driver, but he was also aware that she would be stressed out after whatever happened. “I knew I should have picked Aman over you for this mission!” She muttered, while he chuckled. She tried her best to convince him, but he wouldn’t budge, and she had no other go.
They weren’t even half way through when she almost screamed, “Pull off the road, and stop right now!” He complied, knowing that she would kill him if he didn’t, while she got off the car and ran through a group of trees. There was no-one around. He too followed her, curiosity getting the better of him, and was enchanted by the view. It was a cliff, and the sun rising from behind the surrounding hills looked breathtakingly beautiful. He recalled something that had happened right on that cliff, and shuddered at that thought.

His train of thoughts was broken by Twinkle calling out to him. “Come quickly dumbo! This is the best place to watch the sunrise… You wouldn’t want to miss it!” She said patting beside her. He rushed to that spot, his mind still drawing a contrast between the situation that day and now. They watched the sunrise in silence, just like their childhood days, when they used to watch the sunrise from the Taneja mansion’s terrace, when Rahul felt a little load on his shoulder. He turned to find Twinkle resting her head, her eyes were filled with tears.

When she felt his gaze on her, she looked up at him slowly, and tried to put away her tears and smile. “No use faking it! I’m your bestie for a reason stupid!” He said, while she smiled, genuinely now though. “Spill!” He ordered, and prepared himself to listen to something that he was sure she had not told anyone so far.

“Rahul, remember that farewell party incident?” She said quietly, while he just nodded. “That night I was here, about to jump off this cliff, when bhaiyu saved me. He had received an anonymous call informing him that I was here….
(Reference to the first episode… I donno if any of you remember… For those who don’t, Twinkle was about to jump off the cliff in depression after being insulted and rejected by Kunj, but Yuvi saved her right on time, having received a call informing him of her whereabouts.)
The call was made by Alisha… The very girl who wanted to kill me… Although her actions are never justified, I always wonder what would have happened if it wasn’t for her that night…” She said, weeping in his arms. He had been her bestie in true terms, always standing by her through thick and thin, he knew her very well, and knew that this incident must have been pricking her all along, being bottled up in her mind, so he let her cry.

There was silence again, for a really long time. “Twinkle… It’s seven… We should get back home now…” He said, once he was sure that she was feeling better. She stood up quickly, snatched the keys from him, and ran to the car, giggling with “I’m driving!”. He laughed at her, and agreed, and they reached the Taneja mansion soon.
“Twinkle!! Rahul!! Where had you been?” Leela greeted them with her questions. Twinkle shot Rahul a look, and he muttered, “Sorry, I forgot to leave a note..” with a sheepish look on his face. “You’re impossible!” She muttered back, while he pointed out that everyone was looking at them, expecting an explanation.
“Ma… Actually, a friend of mine met with an accident around midnight time, we had gone to see her in the hospital…” She explained quickly, recalling that to be the very thing she had written on the note that she had left back home. After they all were done with the interrogation, they finally let Twinkle go back home.

Twinkle rushed up the stairs at Sarna mansion, hoping Kunj wouldn’t be angry for leaving without informing him. “I’m exactly a minute too late… Ill luck!” She said, as she watched Kunj just sit up on the bed, and give the note she had left a weird look, and look for her around.
“Good morning Kunj!” She said as cheerfully as she could, while he just looked at her. “I know I should have told you before leaving, but.. you were looking so adorable sleeping peacefully..” she said, thinking that to be the most believable reason, looking down to avoid eye contact, lest he should catch her lie.

“Oh really…” He said, and when she looked up, she found him standing really close to her, and before she could react, he had pulled her towards himself by her waist, and her hands were on his chest. “Kunj, actually…” She began, while he gave her an uninterested look. “I know you’ve cooked all the stories that you are capable of. You just didn’t want me to lose my sleep… Why don’t you admit that you are worried for me?” He whispered in her ears, his hands pushing her hair to one side. “Kunj! Breakfast!” Usha called out, “Uff maa… Why do you have to come in between every time?” he said, joining his forehead with Twinkle’s, and both of them burst out laughing.

That evening, Twinkle was sitting with Leela at the Taneja mansion. Leela was eager to know if Twinkle had considered giving her marriage a fresh start.
“Ma… You believe that everyone deserves a second chance, don’t you?” Twinkle asked, considering it to be the right time to get the rest of her plan working. “Of course I do, Twinkle…” Leela assured her, while she replied, “In that case ma… Don’t you think that even bhaiyu and the others deserve another chance?” RT too had joined them by then, and was about to argue, when Twinkle asserted, “Papa… Bhaiyu has been your favourite all along, hasn’t he? Don’t you believe in your own son? I am confident that whatever he has done would have been due to some compulsion… My bhaiyu can’t do anything wrong… I am sure”
RT and Leela were taken aback. Some part of them too knew that their son could never do anything wrong, but there was something, perhaps Alisha’s wounds that veiled them from the truth. Now when Twinkle had burst out on this issue, they began considering it seriously.

That’s it for now guys.
I hope I didn’t ruin your expectations.

Take care
