Twinj: When I fell for you: Episode 38

A quick recap: Alisha plans to use her most powerful weapon, the gang’s surprise, Twinj consummate their marriage

“Wake up sleepy head” Yuvi’s voice greeted Kunj on the phone. He still had his eyes closed, and had just awoken to his phone ringing.
“Jeeju… Are you serious? Just let me sleep…” He replied, still not opening his eyes.
“It’s 11 o’ clock Kunj” Yuvi’s calm voice made his eye lids fly open , and he looked around to find Twinkle still sleeping peacefully next to him, his arms holding her protectively.
“Ya jiju… I heard you, and them too… I’ll see you soon” he said, disconnecting the call, as he heard giggling noises on the other end.

He realised it must have been the rest of the gang. He put his phone away, slowly taking his hands off Twinkle, and was about to go, when she held his hand.
“Good morning Kunj…” She whispered, pecking his cheek. “How I wish every morning of mine was this good!!” He said, pulling her closer by his shirt that she had been wearing, recieving a quick smack from her. He placed a gentle kiss on her forehead, and engulfed her in a tight hug, while she cuddled even closer. They desperately hoped that time would pause right there, at that moment, when everything seemed so perfect, so complete, and gave their love an eternal glow.

Some time later, Kunj had just stepped out of the washroom having taken his bath, when he saw Twinkle getting ready in front of the mirror. She seemed to be lost in her own world, and was blushing and smiling every now and then. Kunj tiptoed to her, and engulfed her in a back hug. Twinkle widened her eyes, her bubble being popped, out of the blue.
Kunj placed his chin over her shoulder, and pecked her cheek. She smiled, closing her eyes, as she felt his breath fanning her face. Kunj watched her reflection in the mirror in a daze. He looked as if he couldn’t believe the current happenings to be true. Twinkle gently placed her hands over his, which were in turn on her waist.

“Kunj?” She called out, but her hubby dear was too lost to respond. She snapped her fingers in front of his eyes, jerking him back to Earth. Once she was sure that she had his attention, she asked, “So, what’s your plan for the rest of the day, Mr. Sarna?”
“That’s a surprise.. Get ready quickly..” He replied, winking at her, while she glared at him. He knew curiosity got on her nerves, nevertheless, he loved teasing his Siyappa Queen.

They were finally ready to leave at lunch time, and decided to go to the restaurant before they left. As they sat down, they heard a voice that Kunj recognised immediately. “Raj!” He called out, as the other man put down his phone, and went away avoiding them, while Kunj was somehow sure that he wasn’t mistaken, and he was confident that the other man had heard him too.

Kunj decided to set aside his thoughts for the time being, and make the most of his time with Twinkle. They ordered food that both of them loved, and talked about many things as they feasted.
They then walked over to Kunj’s car, he opened the door for her and made her comfortable before he took his own seat. Twinkle was chattering excitedly about how it seemed like they had gone back to the days when they had been dating, while Kunj just smiled.

Soon they reached their destination. Kunj closed her eyes with his hands, and led her way, while she was bugging him to let her see his surprise. When he finally let go after what seemed like an eternity to her, she was sweetly surprised to see the sight before her. They were in a remote part of a garden, nobody was around, the chirping of birds and gentle winds enhanced the beauty of the place. There was soothing shade due to all the tall, dense trees around. There was a swing attached to one of the branches of a nearby tree, and near that, a mat had been spread out, with a picnic basket containing lot of food. It looked extremely familiar to Twinkle, but she took a little longer than expected to recall.

When it struck her, she turned at looked at Kunj with a blank expression on her face. “What happened Siyappa Queen? Didn’t you like it? Should we go back and look for some other place?” Kunj asked, not sure if she had recognised the place.
He was surprised when she went running to him and gave him a tight hug. “This is so beautiful Kunj!! Just like the good old days, when we were so little and used to come here for family picnics… They were so much fun..!” She said, her eyes glistening as she recalled their sweet memories of that place.

When she let go of Kunj, they gave each other a mischievous smile, and made a dash for the swing. Like always, Kunj reached there first, and as usual, he let go of his turn and allowed Twinkle to play on the swing first. He gently pushed the swing from behind, and Twinkle was having loads of fun, remembering that they always played like that together whenever they had come there.

Then they went for a walk, hands entwined, Twinkle had rested her head on his shoulder, no words were exchanged. They quietly listened to the sounds of nature, enjoying each other’s company, finding solace in the silence that spoke in volumes, much more than words could ever accomplish.
Later, they sat under one of the trees, when Kunj broke the silence. “Twinkle… Today I’ve fulfilled another promise I made to you… Remember that one?” He asked, pointing to a tree trunk that had faint marks of something inscribed on it with a sharp object, a stone perhaps. Twinkle looked at it, and then at Kunj, amazed that he still remembered every little detail of their time together.

Flashback.
Twinj had come to the same place, it was only about two hours of a drive from home, but it was the first time they had gone to that place all alone.
They had been sitting under the same tree that they were sitting under now.
“Kunj…?” Twinkle called out, looking at him.
“Hmm?” He replied, thinking of the previous day, when they had confessed their love for each other for the first time.
“I love you…” She said simply, while he looked at her, wondering if even she was thinking of the same thing as him.
“I love you more..” He said, pecking her forehead. She smiled momentarily, shyly looking away, before an idea struck her mind.
“Twinkle! No Siyappas… If something goes wrong, and our parents find out that we’ve come so far from home all alone, we’ll be punished” He said, knowing her too well.
“Huh!! Sadu! Atleast listen to what I have to say… But no, why will you listen to me? You don’t love me after all….” She said, looking away, while he rolled his eyes.

“This is nothing but emotional blackmail!! Of course I love you… I love you more than you can ever imagine…. Fine, let me prove it.. Today, I promise you Twinkle, that one fine day in our future, we’ll come back here.. just the two of us… The difference will be that we’ll be a married couple then…” He said, pulling her closer to himself. She was moved, and they had decided to inscribe ‘Twinj’ on the tree, to make it a memory to remember when they would return on the day he had promised her of. Intentionally or not, Kunj had made her forget the Siyappa she was upto, and thankfully, she didn’t recall what mischief she was upto after that.
End of flashback.

Kunj leaned in closer to Twinkle and joined his forehead with hers, both of them closing their eyes, feeling the intimacy of the moment. Both of them had a content look on their faces.
“However, we do have one responsibility over our heads…” Kunj began, and Twinkle opened her eyes pondering over what he was speaking about. “And that is?” She asked, clueless. “Remember what dad had told us?” Kunj asked, hoping that she would get the clue.
“No…?” Twinkle said, mentally making note of things that had been told to them. “He had told all four of us that just like they had brought their children here….” His voice trailed off, as he noticed her eyes widening.

Twinkle stood up and slowly stepped away from him. “Oh… Yyyes.. we should have brought Pari here too…” She said, taking steps backward. However, Kunj was quick enough to catch her right there. “That’s about di and jeeju’s child… What about…” He said, pulling her closer by her waist. Her cheeks turned crimson, and she looked down, unable to meet his gaze. “Kunj!!” She said, playfully smacking him.

“By the way Mrs. Sarna, don’t you think you have been blushing more than necessary ever since we’ve come for our honeymoon?” Kunj asked, nuzzling his nose in the crook of her neck.
She looked up immediately. “Are you serious Kunj? You are calling this our honeymoon? How could you be so stingy? Shouldn’t you be a good husband and take me to Manali or someplace?” She asked, narrowing her eyes at him, while he simply blinked, thinking of how big a Siyappa Queen his wife was. While girls shied away to speak of these things, she had been making demands.

“Why Manali my love? We can go anywhere you wish to… I promise…” Kunj said, chasing after her, while she had left being angered. She finally gave in after a lot of pestering, given that he promised her anything she wanted, and then they spent some time together, laughing at the memories from childhood, cuddling and creating more memories for the years to come.

As the sky darkened, they returned to the hotel, and then returned back to Amritsar in their respective cars. This journey had given them a lot, their love had been strengthened, and now they were ready for the final showdown with Alisha, unaware of what lay before them.

That’s it for now guys.
Hope you all liked it…

Take care
