Twinj: My Lifeline: Episode 3

A quick recap: Twinkle’s encounter with Usha, Usha’s promise to herself to get rid of some problems, which have not been revealed so far.

“Kunj!!” Alisha called out, as she admired her surroundings. She had just reached the place Kunj had asked her to come to. She could see that he had put in hours of efforts for the picture perfect arrangements that she was seeing now.
As she continued looking around, she saw a spotlight come on a few feet away. She immediately ran to that place, and soon, there was a shower of rose petals over her. She twirled around happily, while Kunj watched on, with a satisfied smile, leaning onto a nearby tree.

“Kunj!! All this is so beautiful! I loved it!” She exclaimed, as she rushed into Kunj’s waiting arms. “And I love you!” Kunj whispered, presenting her a bouquet of her favourite flowers. “To the most beautiful lady” he spoke, while she accepted it happily.
Before Alisha could go on about how much she liked the place, Kunj went down on one knee. Alisha’s eyes widened in horror, her mind racing through the recent happenings.

“Alisha… You already know all that I hold in my heart for you… And I promise, all this love will never fade away… Ever since I saw you at that event, my life has never been the same… Your love has transformed me into a completely new person… I can’t even imagine my life without you anymore… I love you… I love you more than anyone ever can… All those times you’ve turned down my proposal for marriage are insignificant now… But let me assure you, this will be the last time I’m trying… Will you marry me?” Kunj spoke, the rise and fall of emotions evident in his tone, as he presented the ring.

Alisha simply looked on. The words “the last time I’m trying” echoed in her ears. She wasn’t sure about getting married yet, but she knew that her refusal would end up all that she and Kunj shared. She wasn’t unaware of how much she had been hurting him all along, but she found herself in a fix now, unaware of what she should do. Kunj, who had been looking up at her expectantly, sighed deeply, closed the box that held the ring, and stood up, nodding in a no, muttering something to himself. When he finally looked up at her, his eyes held disappointment and pain, and were filled with tears.

He forced a smile on his face, a rather sad one, and turned around to give her one last look. He had believed that she would definitely accept his proposal that day. He was getting worried, since her refusals had made him doubt his own love, and unknown to himself, a fear had begun developing in his mind, a fear of losing her.
“Kunj! Wait!” Alisha called out, grabbing onto his wrist, when he turned around.
“Kunj… I love you!! I’m really sorry I’ve hurt you all along… But today, I finally accept this honour of getting married to the prince of my dreams, the Kunj Sarna, the one who has fulfilled all my desires, the one who taught me what love really is… I would gladly become Mrs. Alisha Kunj Sarna” she spoke, holding his hands in hers.

Kunj couldn’t believe his ears. His happiness had reached some other level. He immediately took the ring out, and in a few seconds, they were posing for selfies just like a perfect couple, Alisha flaunting her ring in each picture.

On the other hand, Yuvi was getting restless as he waited for Twinkle in a park where they had spent a lot of time with their gang. He had asked her to come there under the pretext that he had something very important to tell her, and that she had to come alone.
When he saw her walking towards him, he uttered a quick prayer, hoping everything would be perfectly as planned. She was looking extremely pretty in the maxi dress that Chinki had tricked her into wearing. “Uff!! I’m so dead just at the sight of her” Yuvi muttered to himself, as he mentally prepared himself.

“Hi Yuvi!!” Twinkle greeted in her usual bubbly and cheerful manner. He just waved back at her, nervousness getting the better of him. “Yuvi? Is everything alright?” She spoke, hoping to get some reply atleast this time around. “Ya…” He spoke, nodding his head.
When a few moments of silence followed, Yuvi decided that there was no point in delaying anymore.

He picked up a bunch of red roses that he had placed on a nearby bench, and offered one to her, as he spoke, “Twinkle…”
Twinkle looked at the rose and then at him, wondering what he was up to. She hesitantly accepted it.
“I still remember the first time I had seen you back in school… Ever since, you’ve been a really dear friend of mine…” He began, handing her over another rose. Twinkle smiled as she recollected their childhood moments. She accepted that rose too.

Yuvi spoke of some more special memories they had shared, right from troubling the other kids at school to their last day at college, handing her a rose as he spoke of each one. Twinkle accepted each one of them.
When he had just one rose left, he went down on one knee, shocking Twinkle. She recalled Chinki repeatedly insisting that Yuvi had some feelings for her, but Twinkle being Twinkle, never accepted it.

“Twinkle Taneja!! I love you… I love you much more than words can ever be sufficient to express… I’ve finally realised that you are the one! The only one who can complete me and my life, which would be meaningless without you… I can’t even imagine my life without you anymore… I love you…” He spoke, a red rose in one of his hands, the other hand behind his back, his eyes conveying his intense feelings.
Twinkle’s eyes glistened with tears of happiness, she had an indecipherable expression on her face.

Meanwhile, Kunj had reached home. “Ma!!! I’m so excited! Guess what!!! She accepted my proposal! Now, we’ll have a happily ever after!” he announced, entering his parents’ room.
“We’re really happy for you, Kunj!!” Manohar replied, momentarily looking up from his file. “Finally, my rockstar son will get married!!” Usha exclaimed, bursting with excitement.
Kunj gave his parents a quick hug, and walked out, while Usha and Manohar shared an understanding glance and smirked at each other.

On the other hand, Twinkle accepted the rose and pulled him onto his feet, while he awaited her response. “Yuvi… Guess what!! It has always been my dream to recieve a proposal like this… Thank you very much for fulfilling this dream, but I’m really sorry Yuvi… I’ve never thought of you as anything but one of my dearest friends… I’ve never loved you… I’m sorry… I’m very sorry…” Twinkle spoke, the tears now flowing down her cheeks.

“It’s alright Twinkle… I totally understand… But you can give me one chance to prove my love, can you not? I can wait for you all my life…” Yuvi spoke, heartbroken.
Twinkle nodded in a no. “Yuvi… You are well aware ofeverything… Ever since I’ve known what love is, I’ve just felt it for that one guy… I know our story may have absolutely no future, but I can’t even dream of loving anyone other than him… We aren’t just meant to be, Yuvi… I’m extremely sorry” she spoke, her thoughts drifting off to her love. Yuvi’s efforts to make her understand how pointless her feelings were, went in vain. That’s when Chinki came running to her, and whispered something into her ear, that left her shocked. “I need to go… I’m sorry” She muttered before hurriedly leaving the place, leaving Yuvi gaping at her disappearing shadow, while Chinki rushed after her.
