Twinkle was passing by and saw Bebe smiling to herself watching something… Being blessed with an intensely inquisitive mind she went in and asked what is the matter ..
Twinkle … “Kya baat hai bebe aap bohot khush lag rahi hain??” Bebe looked up smiling from the family album and pictures which were scattered on her bed… “Puttar aa baith … puraani tasveerein dekh rahi thi” There are so many black and white and color pictures too of Manohar, Usha , Anand , Kunj , Bebe .. Twinkle started looking at them too … She might come across some baby pictures of Kunj preferably without clothes … The thought made her giggle… Bebe went on with her nostalgic talks when suddenly a photo caught Twinkle’s attention …
There was this cute little boy wearing a shiny birthday cap and holding a knife in his hand… His face reminds Twinkle of someone very special to her… He has the similar one eyebrow up facial expression… Just to be sure she asked “Bebe yeh kaun hain??”… The smile lingering on Bebe’s face widened ” Ise nehi pehechana?? Yeh tera pati Kunj” A victorious grin made its way to Twinkle’s face… Yes she guessed him right… She had an irresistible urge of pulling the cheeks of the little one and thought about the consequence if she had done the same thing with the grown up one… Just then some small numbers at one corner of the photo put a break to her dream sequence… She observed the numbers closely… It was a date… “23rd April… That’s tomorrow” she shouted in surprise… A startled Bebe got confused… “Kya hua puttar??” “Bebe kal Kunj ka birthday hain” replied Twinkle justifying her amusement… Bebe calmed her down “Haan puttar mai nu pata hain…Isliye mai uska man pasand palak paneer banaungi” … Well twinkle had a better idea ” Bebe kyu na hum Kunj ko surprise party de” … ” Yeh toh bohot hi changa idea hai puttar” …
After discussing everything with Bebe, Twinkle made notes in her mind how she is going to make the birthday of her Khadoos Sarna the most special this year…
Next day nobody wished Kunj as per Twinkle’s strict instructions… Though Kunj is passed that age but he still got a little upset about the whole thing… He thought it was too weird to accept that even Bebe and his Ma had also forgotten about his birthday… He went to his office without making any fuss about it anyway…
The moment Kunj stepped out, the whole family witnessed Twinkle running here and there throughout the house making calls, instructing the decorators, randomly inviting everyone as if this was some national event and the whole responsibility was on her delicate small little shoulders… Bebe was in awe and told Usha that his son is blessed to have a wife like this… Usha, though not agreeing totally, had a smile just to realise that Kunj’s birthday is being celebrated with such grandeur…
Balloons, streamers, lanterns, Sarna house looked as pretty as a picture… Twinkle was very particular about selecting her dress… She finally settled with a gorgeous red suit which matched the color of her cheeks when she thought about Kunj watching her in that dress…
Lights went off when the honking of Kunj’s car was being heard… Kunj was surprised to see the condition of electricity at his house and was going to call Bebe but the loud chorus of “SURPRISE” made him stand still at his position… He was completely taken aback but was happy to see all his loved ones standing there smiling and wishing him… He went on to hug everyone Bebe, Usha, Leela…
“Yeh sab kya??”… ” Twinkle ne yeh sab organise kitta…” came Bebe’s immediate reply… Kunj and Twinkle shared a moment… talking with their eyes like they always do… He, thanking her… She, loving his happiness…
Kunj was back after sometime wearing the dark purple tux which Twinkle had kept on their bed and lights were off again…
Kunj was confused but saw a spotlight on Bebe… His baby pictures were being shown on the projector screen at the back… ” Aaj mere Kunj puttar ka janamdin hain… Mera Kunj sabse pyaara insaan…” and Bebe went on with little incidents from his childhood praising Kunj after each incident… It did not take Kunj much time to comprehend this was the idea of his siyappa queen… Eventually Usha, Anand, Leela shared their personal favourite moments with Kunj and how he has been the perfect son, brother and son-in-law… Kunj got embarrassed by so much of praise but his heart knew how much their words mean to him…
To his absolute surprise, the next person to come under the spotlight was Manohar… Kunj had never been close to his father and Manohar too never reciprocated the love Kunj had given him when he was small… Gradually Kunj had started to distance himself from Manohar but always craved for his love… “Kunj mai janta hoon shayad maine kabhi tumhe nehi bataya lekin tum sabse ache bte ho… Beta mujhe pata hain main tumhe kabhi woh pyaar nehi de paya jo tum deserve karte ho lekin mai tumse bohot pyaar karta hu beta aur pray karta hu bhagwan sabko aisa beta de…A father is a son’s first hero but I say this to the world you are my hero beta…Happy Birthday” Kunj couldn’t hold back his tears… He has always dreamt of getting this love from his father… He has always made scenes in his head about Manohar praising him but got upset after realising he can never turn it into reality… Manohar came forward and Kunj without wasting any time hugged him tight… Everyone had tears in their eyes…
Manohar wished him once again and gave him a comforting smile which Kunj hadn’t seen on his father’s face for years… Bebe gave her blessings to both Manohar and Kunj… Amidst all this, Kunj saw Manohar showing thumbs up to someone… He immediately looked into the direction his father was smiling at… The girl replying back to Manohar with a thumbs-up was none other than his mallika-e-siyappa… Kunj remembered Bebe saying few days back…how blessed he is to have her in his life…
Twinkle was busy attending the guests and arranging things when she suddenly felt a hand pulling her behind the curtains… She knew the touch…
“Kunjjj… What are you doing??” Kunj was silent… He was so touched by her gesture… Twinkle sensed something… “Kunj kya hua?? Tumhe surprise pasand nehi aya kya?? Mujhe toh laga surprises sabko pasand hain…Lekin mai…” Kunj interrupted her by putting his hand on her lips… “Thank You Twinkle” The words calmed Twinkle down a bit… He continued “You know I never thought Dad would say something like this for me… Never ever… But I always had a dream that someday he will love me in front of everyone…accept me with all my flaws…and he did today…only because of you… Kaise kar leti hai tu yeh sab??”… “Maine kuch nehi kiya…woh toh unhone khud hi…” Twinkle tried her level best not to take credit… “Don’t lie… I know everything… Mujhse toh jhooth mat hi bol” She pouted on getting caught like this… Kunj decided her baby face was his favourite…He was a breath away from her… A nervous Twinkle wanted to run away but Kunj was too strong for her… His hands went up to caress her cheeks… Twinkle blushed even more at their closeness… Kunj neared his face and whispered into her ears ” Tu mujhe wish nehi karegi??” Twinkle shivered when his warm breath touched her soft cheeks… “Nehi woh main Happy Birthday Kunj” and she gave him a mild push and faded away in the crowd of people in a jiffy… Kunj smiled to himself thinking about how only he can shut up his chatterbox wife…
It was time to cut the cake… Everyone gathered in front of the table for the cake cutting ceremony… Just then to twinkle’s horror Raman mamu revealed the letters written on the cake by opening the lid of the box… “HAPPY BIRTHDAY KHADOOS SARNA” … Twinkle’s eyes were ready to pop out when she remembered how she had unintentionally messaged the wrong name to the cake shop guy while talking to Kunj’s photo… Twinkle sighed thinking this was her last day on earth and Kunj was going to hang her till death… But to her utter surprise Kunj burst out into laughter and everyone followed… “Sahi naam diya hain maine tujhe… Siyappa queen” and he enjoyed watching his siyappa queen going all red with embarrassment…
