Hello everyone. Thank you very much for your love and appreciation for my stories. I’m really happy that you all have been liking my stories, which is what keeps me going. Happy reading!

Twinj: It’s Always Been You: Episode 5

A quick recap: Twinkle goes to meet Kunj at their regular spot where it is revealed how she had lost her job three years ago. Kunj is still left with several unanswered questions, and intends to sneak into her place at night, but is caught by Yuvi, and a scuffle begins. Twinkle ran down the stairs and reached there just in time to hear Yuvi tell Kunj that she loved him.

The noise behind the boys makes them turn around to find a shocked Twinkle standing there. She simply looked at Kunj, as though she was unaware of what she had to do then. “Twinkle! How come you haven’t slept yet?” Yuvi asked, walking towards her, trying to ease the tension in the air, also knowing that she was going to kill him for revealing that to Kunj. “What are you doing here this late in the night?” She asked Yuvi, her eyes still not leaving Kunj’s, which wore confused, surprised, shocked expressions all at once. “Just passing by when I saw him” Yuvi said immediately, Twinkle gave him a glance and then asked him to get home quickly as his mother would be waiting for him. As soon as Yuvi had left, Twinkle turned to Kunj and said, “He had no idea what he was saying. Must be drunk or something.” Kunj nodded at her and then took slow, long strides towards her. “He wasn’t drunk. He knew exactly what he was saying, and the look in your eyes stand witness to it.” He said, his voice reducing in volume to almost a whisper as he got close enough for her to hear. She looked away, avoiding his gaze. He knew she would give in easily and she did, in a minute. “Alright then! Yes, I was in love with you, and that, was three years ago. I don’t think there’s any point in standing here and discussing it now, after so long, at this hour. Good night!” She said in a single breath, turned away and walked into her house. He just stood there, watching her leave, the weird feeling in his heart returning again.

Twinkle closed the door behind her and rushed back to her room. Standing hidden behind the curtains, she watched Kunj stand right where she had left him for what seemed like an eternity to her, before he looked up at her balcony one last time, hoping to see her looking at him, but in vain. Her heart hurt as she saw the hope in his eyes being crushed as he looked up, but she needed to keep herself in check so that it wouldn’t lead to another replica of the incident that had destroyed her world completely. She watched, sobbing, through the blur her tears were creating, as he then walked back to his car and drove away. She then sat down on the ground right there, sobbing quietly.

Woh Din Yaad Aande Ne(from the web series Code M) plays in the background, as we see both Twinkle and Kunj struggling with their emotions. Twinkle trying her best to make them go away, while Kunj had a hard time to make sense of whatever he had heard just then and all that he had been accumulating in himself recently as he drove on the lonely road.

Ho aaj phir tera nazaara
Ho dil nu maar gaya
Pyaar vich jitteya wohi jo
Dil nu haar gaya

Tere khaaban de sahare
Raat din main guzare
Sache aashiq judaiyan
Hans ke seh jaande ne

Ho akhiyaan jadd jadd main khola
Woh din yaad aande ne
Vekh ke ajj vi haaye tainu
Mere saah ruk jaande ne

(This is an extremely beautiful, heart-touching song. Do go listen to it if you haven’t already, you definitely won’t regret it.)

Kunj sat on the edge of the pool at his house, Twinkle’s ‘I was in love with you’ echoing in his mind, when a comforting hand was placed on his shoulder. “Ma.!” He spoke, not even needing to turn around to know who it was. Usha smiled at him and sat down beside him, handing him a cup of coffee. “Tell me!” She said, running her hand on his head lovingly. “What?” He asked, looking away, trying his best to keep things to himself. “Kunj! You’re still my little boy, you’ll always be. Tell me what’s bothering you so much that you’ve been out in the city this late in the night now!” She said, laughing at him. Kunj knew she was right. His mother had always been more of a friend to him, and he shared every single thing with her. Except for one thing, the one thing that he thought would be better if kept to himself. She always teased him that he would only share things with her until he found his soul mate, and she knew for a fact that his ex girlfriend wasn’t. “Twinkle!” He said with a sigh, looking at her. “You went to meet Twinkle at this hour? But didn’t you tell me you would be meeting her early this morning?” Usha asked, hiding a smile. “I met her then too, couldn’t get to say much, that is why I went now.” He explained and Usha burst out laughing. “Ma!!” He was clearly annoyed, and she stopped laughing immediately. “I’m sorry” She said and sat quietly, knowing that he would tell her everything himself in no time.

Usha had known Twinkle for as long as Kunj had known her. Twinkle began to visit the Sarna mansion frequently when they were in the final year of their college to work on different projects or for combined study sessions, and had been very friendly with Usha, who had been very fond of her. Thus she was as hurt as Kunj when Twinkle left suddenly three years ago, and needless to say, the mother-son duo had been extremely excited when she had got back. When Kunj didn’t speak a single word for about five minutes, Usha figured something must have gone either horribly wrong, or miraculously, absolutely right, but he wasn’t able to face it yet. “Did she tell you why she left?” She asked, and that was the only push he needed. He narrated all that had happened in the morning in a go and Usha listened attentively. “You’re afraid you’re falling for her, aren’t you?” She asked as though it was an absolutely normal question, shocking him. “No!” He replied intuitively, but then he wondered, was he falling for her? Was that what he had recognised in his heart when he saw her at the airport but had been refusing until she accidentally landed in his arms that morning? Usha smiled to herself; she had realised that Kunj had fallen for Twinkle long ago, but when she left abruptly, she had decided not to make him face the truth of his feelings, assuming he would forget her. However, he never did. Twinkle had got back now and this was bound to happen, she couldn’t deny it.

When Kunj finally brushed aside his thoughts and disclosed that night’s happenings to Usha, she remained quiet for a moment. She had definitely not seen that coming. She wondered if Twinkle had actually moved on, for in that case, she had committed a huge mistake by forcing Kunj to face his feelings. She immediately realised what she had to do though. So she smiled at Kunj, who was lost in deep thought, and asked him among her giggles, “So you’re worried that she’s no longer in love with you?” He gave her a ‘Not funny’ look and then said, “No, I felt… bad.” He said, weighing his words carefully. “And you are trying to tell me you don’t love her?” Usha asked, shaking her head, and then got up and walked indoors, not waiting for his answer. She stopped as she stepped inside and said, “You better go and sleep now, Kunj. It’s almost 2 in the night. We are to the Gurudwara tomorrow morning.” He was about to protest, when she declared, “Twinkle will be there too.” She had hardly got halfway up the stairs when she heard Kunj close the door after getting in. She smiled to herself and went to bed.

The next morning, Leela noticed that Twinkle looked sleep deprived and tired. “What’s wrong?” She asked her as she drove to the Gurudwara. “Nothing!” Twinkle replied immediately, but Leela knew better. “I know something is bothering you, but I also know that my child is not a weakling. I understand that you’ve dealt with a terrible, terrible thing all alone three years ago, Twinkle. That alone is an indication of what a strong person you are! I want you to remember that if ever there’s anything that you think you can’t bear something, anything anymore, the lord God and your mother are always there for you. Is that understood?” Leela spoke with love, comforting Twinkle more than she herself knew it. Twinkle smiled heartily at her, consoling her in return. She dropped Leela at the entrance, parked the car and walked to Leela who had been waiting for her. They had hardly taken a few steps when they encountered Usha and Kunj.

That’s it for now guys. I must tell you, I was worried that this story didn’t have much to tell, but then I came up with something that made its plot stronger. Hope you liked it! Until next time,

Lots of love!
