Twinj: It’s Always Been You: Episode 2

Hello everyone! A big, heartfelt thank you to each one of you who have been showering your love and appreciation on my stories. I must admit that the response is not that great, but that’s fine. I believe it’s inevitable now. Anyways, happy reading!

Twinj: It’s Always Been You: Episode 2

A quick recap: Twinkle arrives in Amritsar, after three long years, her mind in a whirl over several issues, when she runs into Kunj. However, no conversation happens between them, as Yuvi drags her away and drives her home. Twinkle enters her room after a lovely welcome and notices something amiss.

Twinkle rushed to the table, and pulled open the drawer. Everything was just as she had left it. She heaved a sigh of relief, assuming that it had just been her illusion. She took out her diary, the only other witness to all that had happened three years ago. She had recorded all of it in the diary, unable to bear the burden of it all by herself. Tears began to flow down her cheeks as she read through the pages. She held the diary close to herself and closed the drawer, when she saw some sparkling object lying on the ground near the table. She was now sure that she hadn’t had any illusions. Someone had actually been there. Picking up the object, which was a ring, she also knew who it was. She hid the diary below her mattress and wiped away her tears. She had a task that needed immediate attention.

Walking swiftly through the corridor, she suddenly stopped when she heard two voices.

“Did you find something last night?”

“I did. You were right, it’s something way beyond any of us could have ever imagined. I regret not listening to you for so long”

“Damn you! It’s too late for us to carry on spying now. She’s back now, it’s almost impossible”

“We know enough to kill him!”

Twinkle hurried to the balcony of Leela’s room, where the voices were coming from. “Stop it!” She almost screamed. “What did you even think you would achieve by that, Yuvi?” She asked, glaring at him with tear filled eyes. “Twinki! Listen to us please! We’re only doing it for your own good. We need to know what happened. For how much longer are you going to suffer from it all alone? Are we random strangers to you?” Chinki spoke, enraged that she couldn’t be of any help to her best friend. Twinkle quickly batted her eyelids to get rid of her tears. “You are absolute strangers to me” She spoke slowly, making sure each word hit them. As they both looked on shocked, she continued, “I don’t know the two of you anymore. You are thieves!” Chinki and Yuvi shared a hurried glance before Yuvi defended themselves, pretending they had no idea of what she was saying. They knew she would never forgive them if she knew Yuvi had sneaked into her room, and read her diary. They hoped she hadn’t figured out anything.

Twinkle held up the ring that she had found, and looked at them accusingly. “That resolves it. I don’t want to hear anything from either of you anymore” She declared and walked out fuming. She encountered Leela on the way. “Twinkle! I was bringing snacks for all of you kids so that you all could sit around and talk. It’s been so long, right?” She spoke cheerfully. Twinkle heard the two of them coming there and told Leela, “I would have loved that, Ma! But these two have somewhere to go to, and are in a hurry to leave. We’ll catch up another day.” Leela was surprised, but allowed them to go, wondering what could have gone wrong. Twinkle watched them leave, murmuring to each other. She quickly turned back to Leela and gave her an assuring smile. The ever loving daughter then told her world, her mother, that she would cook a new dish that she had learnt during her time away, for lunch, and sent her away instructing that she should rest till then.

Twinkle slowly walked down the stairs, repeatedly reminding herself that she needed to move on, she needed to stand strong, Leela needed her presence, and she couldn’t give up. She saw the pictures on the wall, pictures of her childhood, her teenage and pictures until three years ago, which narrated the beautiful story of a mother and daughter for whom they were each other’s everything. She then walked into the kitchen, giggling softly to herself as she recalled her first baking disaster, the first time making an amoeboid Parantha, and many such small and big memories. She picked up all the necessary ingredients and got to cooking. She had gotten really good at it, especially since she had to live by herself, and had learnt many new things from her chef room-mate during that period. When she had finished and was satisfied with everything, she walked out, still wearing her apron, and summoned a maid to call Leela for lunch. She was about to turn around and go back, when she heard a familiar voice, “Twinkle?” Just one utterance of her name was sufficient to destroy all the strength she had built up. She herself shiver despite her repeated attempts to stay calm.

That’s it for now guys. I’ll be back soon with the next episode of When I Fell For You: Season 2. Stay tuned.

Until next time,

Lots of love
