Twinj: When I fell for you: Episode 22
A quick recap: A time leap of two and a half years, Yuvi and Amaya are blessed with a baby girl, Chinki and Aman are married, Alisha’s re-entry, Chinki’s breakdown.
“It’s high time that you guys should get to know what happened that day… And you guys too should tell me Kunj’s side of the story.” Chinki said, still sniffing.
“Twinkle was extremely excited when she returned from Mumbai. Kunj and she had decided to tell their parents about their relationship. But she was extremely hurt when Alisha presented herself as Kunj’s girlfriend. Nevertheless, Twinkle had managed to keep a smile on her face so that the family doesn’t begin worrying.
During Yuvi bhai’s wedding, she had developed doubts over Alisha’s behaviour, and had begun spying on her. She was adamant to bring Alisha’s real intentions in front of everyone. She was confident that Alisha was forcing Kunj to be with her. He wasn’t happy and she knew it. Pretty soon, she was going to find out the truth, and they would reunite. But that night, everything changed. Alisha’s attempt to reveal their relationship separated them forever. Everything was ruined…” Chinki had begun crying again while they were listening to her in a daze.
Flashback.
Twinkle lied down on her bed, trying to fall asleep. But sleep was far away. No matter how much she twisted and turned, her mind couldn’t get off the thoughts of Kunj and Alisha. Suddenly she sat upright. She had decided something. She picked up her phone and called Kunj.
Kunj, who had fallen asleep next to the window in his room, woke up with a jerk.
“Hello…” He answered sleepily, without even seeing who had called him.
“Kunj! I want to speak to you. It’s important. See you at my place in ten minutes.” She said and disconnected the call. She went and opened the balcony door, and sat on the couch, waiting for him.
Meanwhile, Kunj rubbed his eyes, and looked at the time. 1 o’ clock. He couldn’t make out a single reason as to why she had called him at the dead of the night. Without thinking much, he set off. Climbing onto Twinkle’s balcony, he was frightened to see the door open, and absolutely no lights put on.
Twinkle put on the bed lamp and waited for him to walk in.
“Twinkle! All ok? Have you even seen the time?” He asked, after observing that there didn’t seem to be any emergency.
“Kunj…. Look.. after all that happened, I have made a decision, and this shall be final. No further discussion or ifs and buts. I don’t think we can actually handle being a couple…” She said, pausing briefly. Kunj’s expression changed from worried to confused. He was about to speak something, when she raised her hand, and asked him to stop.
“Kunj…. We both… We both better stay away from each other from now on… So that there shall be no repetition of any incident like today’s. It’s for everyone’s betterment….” She completed, gulping hard.
“You are nuts! Have you lost it?” Kunj almost screamed at her.
“I already told you. No further discussion.” She said, her heart at constant war with her mind. She closed her eyes, to prevent herself from going weak. When she didn’t hear anything from him for a few seconds, she opened her eyes, and saw him walking towards the door.
She ran towards him, and hugged him from behind.
“Kunj! This is already difficult for me… Please don’t complicate things more” she cried.
“I can’t live without you…” Kunj spoke slowly, his voice cracking. Tears rolled down his cheeks, and he held her hands that were enveloping him.
“Neither can I….” She spoke, unable to accept that she had actually spoken out her strong willed decision. She sat down on the ground with a thud.
Kunj could sense the tension building up between them. He was afraid of losing her forever if he argued any further. He sat down beside her. “What do you want us to do?” He asked, putting his hand around her shoulder.
She leaned back onto him and closed her eyes, calming down slowly.
“Our parents know nothing of all this… We should go back to being friends…” She said.
Kunj smiled. He was proud of her ability to think practically even in such a painful situation. “So Miss Taneja, friends?” He asked, forwarding his hand.
“No… Best friends..” She replied, giving him a hand shake, tears filled in her eyes. She too, like him, was afraid of losing him forever if they went on like that for any longer.
They sat like that for a while, grateful that they could still see and love each other without the other’s knowledge, before Kunj walked away, wishing her a good morning and a happy new life, leaving behind all the pain of the past.
End of flashback.
Aman later told them how Kunj had sternly told him that he wasn’t expecting any developments in his love story and that he and Twinkle would just be friends then on. Chinki and Rahul confessed that they had dissuaded Twinkle from trying to find out what had actually gone wrong in their relationship. Chinki told them how she had asked Twinkle to realise that Kunj never loved her the way she had, and to move on with their new found friendship so that no more harm is caused to anyone. She had strictly forbidden Twinkle from speaking about the past to anyone, thereby curtailing any opportunity for them to clear their misunderstanding and get back together.
The trio recollected how they thought that Twinj had moved on really easily, while in reality, they had been crying silently in loneliness. They regretted keeping them away from each other, thinking that it was the best for them.
That’s when Twinkle walked in, breathing heavily. “Guys! Alisha has met with an accident. She’s in the ICU at the same hospital that bhabhi is. Please accompany ma there. I will come soon bringing Usha aunty with me.” She said in a single breath, and literally pushed them downstairs.
At the hospital, everyone was watching as RT and Manohar spoke to the doctor. Leela had been crying relentlessly.
“It’s all my fault. I should have forgiven her. She was walking in the road absentmindedly, burdened with the thought that she hadn’t been forgiven, when she was hit by a speeding truck…” She narrated the incident, while the others looked on with confused expressions. They didn’t know if the devil was to be forgiven or not.
The doctor soon informed them that by God’s grace nothing serious had happened to Alisha and that they could take her home the next day, but she would need lot of care. Leela was bent upon taking her to the Taneja mansion, while Twinj, Aman, Chinki and Rahul argued against it.
“Ma… You are right. Let’s take her to our house. We’ll take care of her…” Yuvi said, while everyone watched him with anger filled eyes, wondering what he was upto, and why he wanted to take her home after all that she had done.
