Heart to heart
“Waqt ke saath log badal jaate hai yeh toh aaj tak suna tha, par aaj dekh bhi liya (I had heard time changes people, but now I have seen it)” Mishti said as she entered Sonakshi’s room.
“Waqt ke saath log badal jaate hai, dosti nahi (Time changes people, not friendships)” Sonakshi said looking at Mishti through the mirror, “Aur hamari dosti mein kuch naa abhi badla hai naa hi kabhi badlega (And in our friendship, nothing has changed nor will it ever change)” Sonakshi turned to look at her.
“Dosti mein kuch nahi badla hai (Nothing has changed in our friendship)” Mishti stood near her “Par meri dost mein bohot kuch badal gaya hai, smile ke piche dard chupane lagi hai (But a lot has changed in my friend, she has started hiding her pain behind her smile)”
“Kuch bhi Mishti, aisa kuch nahi hai (Mishti, there is nothing like that)” Sonakshi said smiling as she wore her earring.
“Acha kuch nahi hai toh kal se nazre kyu chura rahi hai (If there is nothing then why are you trying to avoid any eye-contact with me)” Mishti looked at her “Aankhein nahi mila rahi mujhse, kyun ki tujhe pata hai main teri aankhon mein tere maan ki baat padh lungi (You are not looking at me because you know I can see the your heart’s feelings in your eyes)”
“Tu naa Kuhu ke saath serials dekhna band kar de, jyada sochne lagi hai (You stop watching those serials with Kuhu, you have started thinking a lot)” Sonakshi said with a laugh.
“Bas kar Sona, kise phasa rahi hai iss jhooti hasi se, mujhe yaa apne aap ko (Stop it Sona, whom are you fooling with these lies, me or yourself)” Mishti said in a stern voice.
Sonakshi looked at her surprised hearing her.
“Bas kar ab aur bata mujhe kya hua, main kal se dekh rahi hu kuch toh hai jo tu bata nahi rahi hai (Stop it now and tell me what has happened, I am watching you from yesterday, something is there that you are not telling me)” Mishti said as she made Sonakshi sit on the bed and sat beside her “Bol naa Sona, hua kya hai (Tell me Sona, what has happened)”
“Mishti” Sonakshi did not know what to say.
“Bata Sona (Say it Sona)” Mishti looked at her “Kahi tu iss sagai ki wajah se toh pareshan nahi hai, tujhe sagai nahi karni kya (Are you not happy with this engagement, you don’t want to do this engagement)” she looked at Sonakshi, the engagement was the only thing Mishti could think of that could make Sonakshi upset.
“Sagai ho hi isiliye rahi hai kyun ki maine haa kaha hai (The engagement is happening because I said yes)” Sonakshi said looking down “Bas jis ke saath maine bachpan se sochi thi, uske saath nahi ho rahi hai (It is just that it is not happening with the person I had thought it would happen with)”
“Sona par tune toh kaha tha ki tujhe tere Bua ka beta pasand hai phir kya baat huyi (Sona but you had told me that you like your aunt’s son, then what has happened)” Mishti said as she remembered all the times when Sonakshi had told her about her aunt’s son whom she loved a lot.
“Haa pasand tha par Dev nahi (Yes, I liked him, but he is not Dev)” Sonakshi looked at Mishti “Abir, mujhe bachpan se Abir pasand tha (Abir, I had liked Abir from childhood)”
Hearing her Mishti looked at her shocked, this was something she had not thought about, now she realized the reason for Abir’s changed behaviour ever since their arrival.

“Waah, tere haath ki coffee hi thi jo maine sabse jyada miss ki hai Mumbai mein (Wow coffee made by you is the thing I missed the most in Mumbai)” Abir said as he sipped the coffee, sitting in the balcony with Dev.
“Agar itna hi miss karta hai toh ghar wapas kyun nahi aa jaata (If you missing home, then why don’t you come back)” Dev said sipping the coffee from his mug “Sonakshi aur tere bich jo bhi hua (Whatever happened between Sonakshi and you)”
Abir stopped drinking the coffee and looked at Dev “Dev, yeh sab Sona ki wajah se nahi hai, main uski wajah se ghar se dur nahi rehta (Dev, it is not because of Sona, I don’t stay away from home because of her)”
“Toh phir kyun rehta hai (Then why do you stay)” Dev kept the coffee mug on the side “Agar Sonakshi reason nahi hai toh kya reason hai (If Sonakshi is not the reason, then what the reason is)”
“Main khud reason hu (I am the reason)” Abir said looking outside “Apne ghar se dur rehna mera decision tha (Staying away from my home was my decision)”
“Kehna kya chahta hai tu (What are you saying)” Dev asked him surprised “Matlab kya hai tera (What do you mean)”
“Kuch nahi yaar (Nothing)” Abir said keeping the coffee mug aside “Chod naa yeh sab, yeh bata Sona khush hai kya, yeh sagai uski marzi se toh ho rahi hai naa (Leave all this, tell me is Sona happy, is the engagement happening by her choice)”
“Marzi toh hai Sonakshi ki, par (It is Sonakshi’s choice but)” Dev sighed “Khushi nahi hai yeh hum sab jaante hai (It is not her happiness and we all know it)”
“Phir kyu kar rahe hai hum yeh (Then why are we doing this)” Abir asked looking at his brother.

“Tujhe Abir pasand hai (You like Abir)” Mishti asked Sonakshi looking at her in surprise “Matlab tu jis ke baare mein itni baatein karti thi, jisase tujhe bachpan se pyaar hai, woh Dev nahi Abir hai (That means about whom you used to talk, whom you love from childhood is not Dev but Abir)”
Sonakshi looked at her “Pasand karti hu nahi pasand karti thi (I liked him, I don’t like him)” she smiled sadly “Pyaar karti nahi hu pyaar karti thi (I loved him, I don’t love him)”
Mishti looked at Sonakshi feeling sad for the pain of her best friend.
“Sona, agar aisa hai toh Abir ke bhai se shaadi kyu kar rahi hai, tujhe kitni takleef hogi socha hai tune (Sona, if this the case then why are you getting married to Abir’s brother, have you thought how much it would pain you)” Mishti asked Sonakshi “Abir is ghar ka beta hai, wo isi ghar mein rahega, zindagi bhar teri aankhon ke saamne rahega, kaise sambhalegi tu khud ko in sab mein (Abir is the son of this house, he will stay in this house, your entire life he will be in front of your eyes, how will you handle yourself then)” Mishti asked her concerned “Aur Dev ka kya, tu usase pyaar bhi nahi karti, uske saath bhi toh yeh fair nahi hai, in sab mein uske saath bhi galat hi hoga naa (And what about Dev, you don’t even love him, all this is not fair with him, in all this it will be so wrong with him)”
“Tujhe kya lagta hai, maine yeh sab nahi socha hoga, jab shaadi ki baat Bua ne ki thi mujhse maine sabse pehle Dev ke baare mein soch kar hi mana kar diya tha (What do you think I did not think about all this, when aunt came to me to talk about this wedding, I denied immediately only thinking about Dev)” Sonakshi said standing up from her place “Dev mera bachpan ka dost hai, apni almost sari life maine uske saath ji hai, jab bhi kuch bhi hua hai use apne saath khada paya hai (Dev is my childhood friend, I have spent almost all my life with him, whenever anything has happened, I have found him standing with me)” Sonakshi turned to look at Mishti “Uske saath kuch galat ho aisa main kabhi nahi chahti, use anjaane mein maine bohot hurt kiya hai ab aur kaise kar sakti hu (I cannot do anything wrong with him, unknowingly I have hurt him a lot, now how can I hurt him more)”
“Phir yeh shaadi kyu ho rahi hai, isme agar kisi ki khushi nahi hai (Then why is this wedding happening, if it has no one’s happiness)” Mishti asked her.

“Yeh sab hum yahi soch kar kare rahe hai ki shayad isase sab thik ho jayega (We are doing all thinking it will make things fine)” Dev said looking at Abir.
“Par isme toh kuch thik lag hi nahi raha hai (But nothing seems right in all this)” Abir said.
“Phir waqt ko karne dete hai sab, woh sab thik kar dega (Then let time do everything, let time make things right)” Dev said looking outside.
“Sona ko toh tu hamesha khush hi rakhega Dev, lekin teri khushi ka kya (You will always keep Sona happy Dev, but what about your happiness)” Abir asked Dev.
“Sonakshi ki khushi hi meri khushi hai (Sonakshi’s happiness is my happiness)” Dev said and Abir did not know what to say anymore, his brother’s love for Sonakshi was something he could never question, something he could never doubt and something he knew would never change no matter what happened in the world, Dev loved Sonakshi a lot and could do anything to keep her happy, even if it meant living a life without his own happiness.
“Aur teri khushi mein hamari khushi (And your happiness is our happiness)” Abir said and Dev smiled hearing him.

“Kyun ki main apni nahi is family ki khushi ke baare mein soch rahi hu (because I am not thinking about my happiness, but this family’s happiness)” Sonakshi said “In hone mere liye bohot kuch kiya hai ab main bhi inke liye kuch karna chahti hu (They have done a lot for me, now even I want to do it for them)”
“Sona tu samajh rahi hai naa ki tu kya kar rahi hai, jab tu khud hi khush nahi rahegi toh iss family ko kaise khush rakhegi (Sona, are you understanding what you are doing, when you will not be happy how will you keep the others happy)” Mishti asked and Sonakshi looked at her.
“Samajh rahi hu isiliye kar rahi hu (I am understand that is why I am doing this)” Sonakshi said looking at Mishti.
“Aasaan nahi hoga janti hai naa (It will not be easy, you know right)” Mishti told her with concern.
“Jaanti hu, aur tu ab bas kar yeh sab baatein, meri shaadi ke liye aayi hai toh usme meri help kar, pata hai mujhe abhi tak yeh bhi nahi pata ki main kal sagai mein kya pehnungi (I know and now you stop all these talks, you have come for my wedding, help me in that, I don’t know what I am going to where tomorrow for the engagement)” Sonakshi said with a smile and Mishti smiled seeing her.
“Well is problem ka solution toh ek hi insaan ke pass hogi (Well only one persona has the solution to this problem)” Mishti said smiling.
“Chal #I_know_all_about_fashion ke pass (Come let us go to #Iknowallaboutfashion)” Sonakshi said and they walked out of the room laughing and to look for Kuhu.
