Tu Meri Pehalwan ~ A VeeRat Tale – Episode 1

New Encounters, New Beginnings

This episode starts with Angad and Sahiba seated in front of the Guru Granth Sahib about to do the pheras around it. Angad asks Sahiba, “You know that ours is an arranged marriage, right? When Daarji and Beeji told me that they were impressed with your talent and nature and in turn would like you to be my wife, I didn’t think twice to say a YES. What about you Sahiba? What made you say a YES for marrying a stranger?” Sahiba looks affectionately at Angad and says, “When your proposal came for me, my parents were hesitant because my elder sister Seerat Di is not yet married. Even after, Seerat Di called and told them that they need not worry about her and go ahead with this marriage as she wants to focus on her career first and then think about marriage, they were still uncertain. However, they were soon reassured when they met you and were impressed by your spirituality and beliefs.” Angad smiles and asks her, “You did not still give the answer to my question. Are you happy with this marriage?” Sahiba looks into Angad’s eyes and says, “I have complete trust on my parents’ decision regarding my life and if they think that you will be my perfect partner then I am sure that Babaji has connected my strings of love with yours (Teri Meri Doriyaann plays). Angad was moved with Sahiba’s answer. (Teri Meri Doriyaann continues to play). Sahiba continues, “Waise toh other than Seerat Di, I have one more sister who is younger than me. Her name is Keerat. You live in a joint family right? How many brothers and sisters do you have?”

Scene shifts to the Brar siblings standing a little away from Angad and Sahiba

Ekam, Prince, Kiara and Simran (Simran is Inder and Manbeer’s daughter in this fiction) come to a turban wearing guy with his face not shown. Prince “Veer paji we have to save Angad paji’s shoes from getting stolen by Sahiba pabi’s sisters.” Kiara, “I heard that Sahiba pabi’s elder sister is not here so that makes things easier for us.” Ekam “But her younger sister is a wrestler!!” Simran, “I wish Garry paaji was here. He would have easily handled Sahiba pabhi’s wrestler sister.” Veer (without face being shown) says, “What if Garry is not here? There is nothing to fear when Veer Singh Brar is here. I will easily slip Angad paaji’s shoes from that pehalwan sister of hers. Now where is Angad paaji’s shoes?” He sees them kept behind the seats given to the guests. He runs to get them and as he places his hand on the shoes, another pair of hands touches his hands. As he looks up, his eyes meet Keerat’s eyes. Both Veer and Keerat’s faces are shown for the first time. They have an eyelock with Guru Grant Sahib shown in front of them. They feel their heart beats rising (Rab Aap Hi Ishq Ugawe, Rab Aap Hi Ishq Mitawe..….Khud Baandhi Hai Uss Rab Ne Hai Teri Meri Doriyaan Rab Aap Hi Ishq Ugawe, Rab Aap Hi Ishq Mitawe song plays in the background ). The Brar siblings keep looking at Veer-Keerat from a distance. Simran asks, “Will Veer paaji bring the shoes?” Ekam, “No idea Simmi! I don’t think Sahiba phabi’s wrestler sister is going to allow it to happen easily.” Veer to Keerat, “Oh so you are the pehalwan?” Keerat, “Keerat!! My name is Keerat Kaur Monga” Veer, “Keerat, Tirath or Mannat no matter whoever you are. Veer Singh Brar won’t let you to get your hands on Angad paaji’s shoes.” Keerat, “Are you challenging me?” Veer with a nod, “Yes I am!!” Keerat, “Fine, challenge accepted. I will surely steal Angad jiju’s shoes and you won’t be able to stop me from doing that.” Veer pulls the shoes towards him saying, “Let’s see”. Keerat pulls the shoes towards her side. Veer again pulls the shoes towards him and the pulling continues to go on until Veer strongly pulls the shoes towards him with a jerk such that Keerat gets pulled towards him along with the shoes and dashes her head against Veer’s. Both scream in pain, “Ouch!!” with Keerat letting her hands go off the shoes. Veer uses the opportunity and gets away stealthily with Angad’s shoes. By the time, Keerat lifts her head up grumbling “How dare you?” Veer was already out of the vicinity. Keerat furiously tells, “You have messed up with the wrong person Veer Singh Brar. Now I will show you what Keerat Kaur Monga can do.”

A few minutes later

Veer gives a high-five to his siblings and says, “Didn’t I tell you that I will not allow that pehalwan to get away with the shoes? Mission successful!” Someone from behind says “Not yet Paaji”. Veer turns around to see a young boy (Keerat had disguised herself as a boy) (Teri Meri Doriyaann plays). Veer to Keerat, “Who are you?” Keerat, “Paaji you did not recognize me? I’m Kartar Monga, Keerat’s twin brother.” Veer putting on a doubtful face, “That pehalwan has a twin brother? How come we didn’t know that?” Keerat, “There are so many things that you do not know about us Mongas, Paaji. I have come here not to explain all those things but rather to get back Angad Jiju’s shoes which you snatched from my sister.” Veer, “Oh so when that pehalwan couldn’t do the task herself, she has sent her brother? What a coward!!” Keerat gets annoyed and tells, “Oh hello stop calling Keerat a coward. If you really have the guts then deal with me.” Veer, “What do you want me to do?” Keerat, “Let’s have an arm wrestling match, if you win then you can keep Angad Jiju’s shoes and if I win then you have to give them to me.” Veer, “Fine let’s do it!” Kiara in Veer’s ears, “Are you sure you want to do this Veer? What if that boy wins?” Veer, “Just look at his size Kiara. Do you think he can beat me? You just wait and watch how I defeat him.”

In a few minutes

Veer and Keerat sit facing each other. They keep their arms on the table. Veer to Keerat, “Shall we start?” Keerat nods and the two clasp each other’s hands. Both of them feel their hearts fluttering (Teri Meri Doriyaann plays). Veer reflects confusedly, “Why is my heart beating for this boy?” He is interrupted by Prince saying, “Come on Veer Paaji. We shouldn’t lose to the Mongas!!” Veer and Keerat ensue fiercely in the arm wrestling. At first Keerat takes the lead but eventually Veer starts overpowering her. Keerat thinks, “I should do something.” She looks flirtatiously at Veer and tries to lure him. Veer starts losing his concentration and starts losing control. Ekam asks him, “What are you doing Paaji?” Veer gets thinking, “What is happening to me? Why am I getting swayed towards this boy?” He looks carefully at the boy and realizes that it was Keerat in disguise but before he could do something, Keerat winks at him making him lose his concentration completely and lose the arm wrestle. The Brar siblings let out a sigh of disappointment. Veer gets up angrily and pulls Keerat’s fake moustache saying, “This is cheating!!” Then, he takes Angad’s shoes into his hands and says, “I’m not going to give them to you.” As he turns around to leave, Keerat pulls his hand and twists it. He cries in pain. Keerat detaching the shoes from his hands whispers into his ears, “All is fair in love and war Mister. Veer Singh Brar!” (Teri Meri Doriyaann plays). Once, Keerat gets her hands on the shoes, she leaves Veer’s hand and swiftly goes away from there. The Brar siblings bang their hands on their foreheads. Prince, “What Veer Paaji? We lost the shoes!!” Veer without giving notice to any of them kept staring annoyed at an escaping Keerat.

Scene shifts to Angad and Sahiba’s marriage

Angad and Sahiba finish the Laavan pheras and take their elders blessings. When Angad comes to wear his shoes, he notices his shoes missing and asks “Where are my shoes?” A voice calls out saying, “Your shoes are with me Jiju.” Just then Keerat comes there with Angad’s shoes. Veer and the Brar siblings look annoyingly at her. Angad, Sahiba and the other family members stood surprised. Keerat tells Angad, “Jiju, I’m not going to give them to you very easily”. Angad at his siblings, “What is wrong with you all? There are five of you all together and still you lost my shoes to one girl?” Simran angrily, “Angad paaji, all this happened because of Veer paaji!” Angad looks at Veer and says, “Of course Veer, because this is not your piece of cake. If Garry would have been here then he would have never let this happen.” Veer stays silent glowering at Keerat. Santhosh asks, “Garry?” Jasleen, “Umm…Garry is my son and Kiara’s elder brother. He and Veer are almost of the same age. He is studying fashion designing in UK. He couldn’t come to the wedding because he had an important project to be done.” Santhosh, “Oh, even our Seerat couldn’t come because she is busy with her modeling assignments.” Keerat, “Now come on Angad jiju, give me my nek otherwise you won’t get back your shoes.” Angad puts his hand into his pocket, pulls out a bundle of notes and gives them to Keerat.” Keerat stands surprised and says, “But jiju this is a big amount” Angad, “You deserve it Keerat because you managed to steal my shoes from five of my siblings.” Angad then takes out some more money from his pocket and offers them to his siblings, “Now don’t be sad and take this money.” All of the Brar siblings except for Veer cheerfully accept the money. Veer walks away madly from there. After he reaches a few steps away from the family members, Keerat calls out from behind, “Are you angry because you lost the shoes or because you lost to a girl?” Veer irritated, “Excuse me Miss. Pehalwan I’m the Veer Singh Brar, Punjab’s best Rockstar. Every other day girls like you lose their hearts for me.” Keerat mockingly, “Tsk-tsk, unfortunately the Veer Singh Brar, Mr. Rockstar lost in front of Miss. Pehalwan.” Veer indignantly “I don’t give a damn about losing such stupid games!!” Their argument continues. Unbeknownst to them Japjyot was watching them from a distance with a smile. Akaal comes to her and asks her, “Why are you smiling Biwiji?” Jabjyot, “Akaal ji don’t you think these two look really lovely together?” Akaal looks intently at Veer and Keerat together and turns towards his wife. She nods her head delightfully.

After Sahiba’s bidaai ceremony, Sahiba tearfully sits in the car with Angad. The other family members also take a seat in their vehicles. Akaal and Jabyot come to Ajeet and Santhosh and express their gratitude for giving their daughter’s hand for their grandson Angad. Akaal tells them, “Now we have come to ask one more valuable thing.” Ajit and Santhosh look confusedly. Akaal continues, “We would like to ask your younger daughter Keerat’s hand for our younger grandson Veer.” Ajeet and Santhosh stand shocked. (Rab Aap Hi Ishq Ugawe, Rab Aap Hi Ishq Mitawe..….Khud Baandhi Hai Uss Rab Ne Hai Teri Meri Doriyaan Rab Aap Hi Ishq Ugawe, Rab Aap Hi Ishq Mitawe song plays in the background ). Veer and Keerat’s faces are shown.
