Chapter-20
A day with Omkara II
Omkara took her to a small Marathi restaurant. The place is not high class but it is decent and cozy. The interiors are done with ancient theme. The tables are small and instead of chairs there are wooden planks with cushions and the crockery was made of bronze. Ishanya was admiring the interiors.
“What would you like to eat?” Omkara asked as the waiter came to take their order.
“What’s the special here?” She asked Omkara.
“Thalipeeth. It’s very delicious here. I always order it.” He said to her.
“Is it vegetarian?” She asked
“Yes, it is.” Omkara replied in confusion.
“Ok then order it for me too.” She said to him.
“You should also try ‘shrikand’. It is very famous.” He suggested.
“Yeah! I know, it is a very famous dessert of Marathi. I’ll definitely try it.” She replied.
“Ok, then!! Thalipeeth with sol kadi and two shrikand.” Said Omkara giving order to the waiter.
“So, you are a vegetarian?” Omkara asked Ishanya after waiter went.
“Yes, and you?” She asked him.
“I used to be a non-vegetarian but turned to vegetarian.” He replied.
“That’s good. It suits your look.” She said.
“What?” Omkara exclaimed.
“Yeah, with your long hair, beard, ‘rudraksh’ chain you look like a modern saint. That’s why being vegetarian suits your look.” Ishanya said playfully while Omkara laughed.
“By the way, are your looks like this from the beginning or you changed it recently?” She asked in the same playful mode.
“From 4 years approximately.” Omkara replied seriously, remembering the time he got discharged from the ‘addiction center’.
“How did you used to look before, then?” Asked Ishanya.
“Wait I’ll show you.” He said and swiped on his phone.
“In my college days.” He said showing his pic in the phone to her.
Ishanya took the phone from me and saw his pic in which he was sporting normal length hair, clean shaved look with full sleeved blazer. He was looking like a dude of the college.
“You are looking like a cool dude of college!” She exclaimed.
“No, Nothing like that!” Omkara blushed.
“God!! You are Blushing.” Said Ishanya but then kept quiet seeing the waiter coming to them with their order. After he went they both burst out laughing.
“Wow! It’s so delicious. You have good taste.” Said Ishanya praising the food.
“Thanks.” Omkara replied smiling.
They finished the lunch with their chit-chat. When Omkara was about to pay the bill when Ishanya stopped him saying, “I’ll pay for my share.”
“Arey, why? I am paying, na. Let me pay.” He said to her.
“Why would you pay for me? I’ll give my share.” She said surprising Omkara.
“Yeah! Ofcourse, I forgot that we are not friends. We have nothing between us.” He said sarcastically. But Ishanya ignored it and gave her share of money even with the tip!!
They were returning back to Marine drive in Omkara’s car while talking with each other.
“You mean, you hadn’t seen any famous places of city yet?” he asked her in surprise.
“Yeah! I hadn’t got time to go out. Today, I have time.” She replied.
“You should take out time for yourself to relax and have fun.” He said to her.
“I do. I am not a work-a-holic. It’s just that I didn’t get the chance to roam the city. As something or the other happened.” She said remembering the time she came to Mumbai.
“Anyway, if you have a chance to show me a place, where will you take me?” She asked looking at him.
“Would you like to go there now? Evenings are the best time to visit that place.” He said to her. She replied “Ok.”
Omkara turned his car towards the Gate way of India seeing this Ishanya said, “I have already seen the Gate way of India.”
“Yeah, but you haven’t gone for a boat ride, are you? He asked. Ishanya replied, “No, I hadn’t.”
They both went on a boat ride to the Elephanta caves. “I should have guessed it, Mr. Artist!!” Exclaimed Ishanya.
Omkara just smiled at her and stared at her while she was admiring the place. They both explored the place together and had so much fun. Unknown to themselves they are enjoying the time without the baggage of their past. While spending time with each other they are being happy from the bottom of their hearts.
For the first time, Omkara was having fun without his brothers and Ishanya is enjoying being herself without any fear.
They returned to Marine drive as it became dark and Ishanya’s scooter too was parked there. When they reached there, Ishanya got down from car and ran towards the sea. She stood there admiring the scenic beauty of the place in night’s light.
She turned towards Omkara and said, “You, leave. I’ll sit here for some-time.”
“Why should I leave? Even I want to enjoy the cool breeze.” He replied to her.
Ishanya smiled and said, “Then come, sit.”
They both sat there enjoying cool sea breezes. While Ishanya was staring at the sea, Omkara was staring at her. “She looked content and relaxed.” He thought. He had always seen pain and fear in her eyes, but now he is seeing peace in her eyes. He smiled seeing her smile in content. He was feeling happy that somehow he became a reason of her being relaxed and at peace.
“Ok, now. I’ll leave” She said and stood up making Omkara come to reality.
“What’s the hurry? Stay for some more time, please.” He requested her wanting to spend some more time with her.
“No, Omkara. It’s already 7:30. I need to go home.” She replied him.
“Ok, let’s have dinner and then leave.” He said hoping her to say yes.
“Ok, But I’ll come on my scooty, I don’t want to return here again to get it.” She said making Omkara happy.
“Sure, I’ll drive the car, you follow me. Ok?” He said agreeing to her.
This time Omkara took her to a five star Restaurant. Ishanya noticed the banner of DJ Night and got excited. “Shall we go?” She asked Omkara pointing to the banner.
Omkara nodded in yes seeing her excitement. They both entered the hall which is flashing with dim lights and loud music. Everyone are there in the own world no one is caring what others are doing. Ishanya liked this atmosphere a lot. Losing in themselves.
“Come, Let’s dance.” Said Ishanya looking at Omkara.
Omkara who rarely dances had stepped on the dance floor today only for Ishanya. And Ishanya who gets sacred to go in the crowd in these dim lights is now excited about dancing to the music as she thought Omkara is there for her. But they both are oblivious to these facts.
They stepped on the dance floor and grooved to the beats. Ishanya has completely lost herself in music and dancing. Omkara got very happy seeing her enjoy, he got mesmerized seeing her like this. Before this he wanted to help her and share her pain, but now he is feeling something different, which is an unknown feeling to him. He knew he is getting attracted towards her and he liked it.
He was staring at her not taking his eyes away from her even for a second “You are gorgeous!!” Omkara exclaimed admiring her. Unfortunately, Ishanya heard him and became conscious about herself and slowed her dancing looking here and there. Omkara cursed himself for losing control on his mouth and tried to think something to cheer her up again while Ishanya spotted ‘HIM’ a few feet away from her.
She started to sweat and said to Omkara, “Let’s leave, Omkara. Please!!” Noticing the desperateness in her voice Omkara nodded in yes and they both exited the hall.
Ishanya signed in relief after coming out of the hall. Omkara asked her “Dinner??!” hesitantly.
She was going to deny it but then remembered herself to be strong and said to herself, “Why should I change my plans by seeing him? Why am I letting him affect me? He should not affect me!!” and nodded in yes making Omkara smile in relief.
