Scene 1

She recalls her wedding and coming to the house. Lights go off. Aashi says does load shedding happen in rich’s houses too? Nikhila cries and Gopika leaves the house. Baa comes. She says why is it dark? Nikhila says it hides tears. On diwali laxmi comes, if laxmi leaves, the house would be dark.

Gopika comes home. People are celebrating diwali around her. Tejal opens the door. Ramila says let me do your arti. But there’s no candle. There’s no matchstick. Let me get it. But there’s no oil either. Come in. Everything will be fine once you come in. Start with cleaning the house. Mohan says she won’t do anything. Don’t shatter her hopes. Gopika says it’s okay mama ji. Welcome to hell. She burns her clothes. Everyone comes. Tejal says no one will get water. Gopika says but these are your clothes. Tejal says what? bring water. Gopikka says you burned your own clothes. Mohan says anger burns you down. Ramila says let her handle her matter. Ramila says this isn’t your room. This is Tejal’s room. You will sleep in the kitchen.
Gopika comes to the kitchen. She sleeps on the mattress.
Baa says Nikhila you had a chance. Why didn’t you stop her? Nikhila says she said it was her self respect’s fight and she will fight it alone.
