Swara’s POV

Sanskar came into my room, as he usually does. He always tries to make me talk to him, but I don’t want to. It’s not that I don’t want to talk to Sanskar, I just don’t want to talk to anyone. I haven’t talked in what feels like months, even though it’s only been a couple weeks.

“How are you, Shona,” Not good. My attacker and Lily’s murderer are on the loose. How do you think I feel? However I don’t say anything, I just keep staring at my wall. He holds me in his arms, his strong arms.

“Do you want me to sing to you,” he asks. I nod faintly. I haven’t heard Sanskar sing since we sang Lucky together, and I missed his voice.

“Alright this song is dedicated to my shona and her beautiful voice,” I closed my eyes on focused on the lyrics and most importantly his voice the way he sings. I felt bad that I hadn’t spoken to him in so long. I could hear it in his voice, I could feel him hurting. He hates that I’m so afraid, but I can’t help it, I feel so defenseless, especially after Lily said it’s only going to get worse. What could I do? It doesn’t matter if I try, no matter what I’m going to suffer the same fate. No stop it Shona, just listen to Sanskar and his voice. He finished he song and I smiled at him, something I’m sure I haven’t done since the day before Rahul’s father passed. Sanskar walked back to where I was sitting and leaned in to kiss me. Our lips touched and it felt magical, I haven’t kissed him in three months. A smile returned to my face, and I blushed.

“Alright enough fun, we should do some homework,” Ugh. Everyday Sanskar tries to get me to do homework, and evryday I refuse, I don’t know why he hasn’t given up yet. I want him to stay with me, but before I can stop him he’s already running downstairs to get our backpacks.

I’m left alone, sitting on my bed. Maybe when he comes back I’ll talk to him, yes. I think he’ll be happy to hear my voice again. I got up off my bed and I started thinking about Sanskar’s reaction, when I felt someone’s hand on my shoulder. I turned around, and looked into the eyes of Rajat behind him was his father. I let out a piercing scream. Rajat lifted a clothe up to my nose and mouth and I blacked out and fell to the ground.
All I could see was darkness and Lily’s voice saying stay strong.

When I came to I saw I was lying on a bed in an empty room. I walked over to the door, locked, of course, why wouldn’t it be. I thought about screaming, but who could hear me. I was alone again. No where to hide. I sat back on the bed,then I saw the handle on the door turn and open.

Sanskar’s POV

I should have never left her. How could I be so stupid? A tear slipped from my eye, I ran to go call Laksh, sahil and the police. Sahil picked up almost instanly.

“Hello?”

“They got her,”

“What?!”

“Rajat, his dad they took shona right from under me,”

“How could you let this happen?”

“You think I tried to, I left her alone for a minute, I heard a scream, and she was gone, just come home quickly, and bring Sahil, I’m calling the police now,”

“Okay give us ten minutes, bye,”

I hung up the phone and dialed emergency no (101)
“what is your emergency?” A female receptionist answers.

“My girlfriend S…sw..Swara, was t-taken by Rajat and his father,” I stuttered.

“Oh my goodness, I’ll send cop cars there right away, what is your location?”

“ABC PLACE”

“They will be there in a moment, stay put, you did the right thing by calling us.” I hung up the phone and started pacing frantically. What are they doing to her at this moment. Please God, please don’t let her die. Please.

After five minutes I could hear sirens, and I walked out of the door. One cop came up to me to ask me questions.

“I’m officer John, what is your girlfriend’s name?”

“SWARA” I said without hesitation.

“How long ago was she taken?”

“About fifteen minutes ago, officer,”

” Good then they couldn’t have gotten too far,” he said and walked off to take to some other cops. Soon police cars were heading in all directions, goint to search for Shona. At that moment Sahil and laksh pulled up into the driveway. Sahil jumoed out of the car and yelled over to me.

“Get in this car, sanskar,” what?

“Why?” I yelled back.

“Goddamn it Sankar get in the damn car, we’re going to go look for Shona.” I ran to the car and jumped into the back seat, and Laksh sped away. Twenty minutes had gone by, and we were driving further away from town.

“Where are we going?” I asked laksh.

“This place, it’s where Rajat goes to smoke, he brought me there once to smoke with him, but I didn’t I told him it would ruin my chances with playing football professionally. I think this is where they’re hiding Shona. It’s isolated, it would be perfect for his sick mind,” I didn’t want to think about rajat’s sick mind, it made me think about what could be happening to shona at this very moment.

We pulled up to a smallish abandoned building. We snuck around the back to find a broken window that we could all climb in through. The hallways were cold and deserted. We listened for anything, anything that would lead us to her. That’s when I hear it, it was very faint, but it was shona, it had to be. I heard her whimpering, crying, I felt a deep pain in my heart.

“This way,” I whispered to laksh and sahil. They followed me down the hallways until we were standing in front the door. Behind that door I would find shona. I tried the handle and it was locked, then it was Sahil’s turn he wasted no time trying the lock and kicked down the door. Behind that door I saw exactly what I had feared.
