Swara’s POV

Thank goodness Friday went by quickly, it’s now time to go to sanky’s. I practically ran to my locker to get my stuff, and meet sanskar at the flagpole in front of the school. When I saw him waiting at the flagpole I said “Hey” and we started walking to his house. Unlike my house which was right across the street, his was pretty far away, but I didn’t mind walking with him. The entire way there we didn’t say much, it was actually kind of awkward, but oh well this is the first time I’ve spent time with sanskar alone.
We arrived at Sankar’s house in about ten minutes, we were greeted at the door by his two little sisters.

“HI SANKY! who’s this?” asked Annie (isha and Annie both are sanskar sis)

“This is Swara, I told you she was coming over,” said sankar, I love when he says my name.

“Is she your girlfriend?” asked isha, teasingly. I blushed, ugh stupid swara, stop blushing.

“No,isha, she’s not, now you and Annie go play with your dolls or something,” Well that got me to stop blushing, my heart actually sunk a little. Just then annie was standing in front of me looking into my eyes.

“I like you,” annie said very assuringly, and then she ran off with isha to their room I guess.

“So were are we going?” I asked Sanskar, at that moment he took my hand, and lead me upstairs. HE TOOK MY HAND!

“Here’s my room,” he said smoothly. It was a fairly big room, with about three windows, a bed, and a desk in the corner of the room. His walls were a darkish blue, and there were some paintings hanging on his wall. There was one in particular that had caught my eye, it kind of looked like me, I mean it really looked like me. Did Sanskar
“Okay so I was thinking we could sing Lucky,(), what do you think?” Sanky’s words had taken my attention away from the painting and into his blue eyes.

“Yea sounds good, let’s look it up, and start trying to work out some harmonies,” I started walking towards sanskar’s desk with his laptop on it. I opened the laptop and searched “Dekh Lena” on youtube. We listened to the song about three times, and then he looked up a guitar tutorial, and started playing along on his guitar, and sang the first verse. I joined in singing and put in some harmony. It sounded really good for the first time we’ve sang it. I was smiling and looking around the room when Sankar passed me a note, it read..” I love you,”. I looked up into Sanskar’s deep blue eyes, and soon enough I felt his lips brush softly against my own. When he backed away, he looked into my eyes and smiled. I looked at him and then at the note my eyes pleading him to explain, don’t get me wrong I’m overjoyed to find out that my crush likes me, I was just confused, how long had he felt this way?

“Why me, why now?” I asked sanskar.

“You’re beautiful, caring, smart, and most importantly you’re you swara, I’ve been looking for someone like you before I even knew I was. It’s always been you I just didn’t realize it until the other day, when I asked you to be my partner,” I felt light-headed I couldn’t believe it in this moment everything was going right for me, but I was still hesitant.

“What about all those other girls? Kavita? Kavya?” I had to know.

“I’ve been so stupid Swara, to even have looked at any other girl besides you. You have been there for me all the time, and I didn’t even notice you. How do you feel, you must think I’ve been a jerk over the years, I may be the one person who hate, and here I am stupid again pouring my heart out to someone who just puts up with me..well?” I couldn’t believe it, he thinks I hate him, he couldn’t be any more wrong. I answered him with a kiss. I slowly backed away, and we both smiled.

“Does that answer your question,” I said smiling.
“Yes,” sanskar said still staring deeply into my eyes. I broke the gaze by looking at the time on my phone. Shit. 5:00 I have to go home now, I have to leave. I put my phone down on his desk, and returned to his gaze.

“Do you wanna stay for dinner,” Sanskar asked.

“Yes,” I replied, and he smiled, “but I can’t, I have to go home now.”

“You sure you can’t stay any longer?” I want to.
“No, I’m so sorry, I told my mom I’d be home before she was to start on dinner,”

“Can’t you ask Laksh to cover for you?” His eyes were pleading me to stay.

“No, he’s at football practice, sorry,” I said and got up walking to the door. I walked downstairs to the front door, after quickly saying good-bye to isha and Annie. Sanskar stopped me at the door, and kissed me one last time.

“Bye, Shona,” he whispered. That was the first time he called me Shona. I walked out the door, and started to make my way home. Everything feels right, my life is going to be different from now on, just not for the reason that I thought…

Sanskar’s POV

I had left eighth period early, so I could get to the flagpole before Swar. When I saw her I lost my breath. She looked stunning. She came up to me and said hey, and we starting walking. It was an awkward walk though, I couldn’t think of anything to say, so it was a very quiet ten minutes. When I opened the door Annie ran up to me with with a huge smile plastered on her face.

“HI SANSKAR! who’s this?” asked Annie..

“This is swara, I told you she was coming over,” I said, not wanting to have a long conversation with Annie..

“Is she your girlfriend?” asked Isha, teasingly. I wish she was, but I haven’t even told her I liked her yet.

“No, Isha, she’s not, now you and Annie go play with your dolls or something,” I said quickly to get them to leave us alone. Isha ran off right away, but Annie walked over to swara, and looked into her eyes.

“I like you,” Annie said very assuringly, and ran after isha to thier room.

“So were are we going?” Swara asked. I bodly took her hand, and lead her up to my room.
“Here’s my room,” I said. She looked around my room, and caught the eye of my painting. I cursed myself for forgetting to put it away and quickly tried to turn her away from it.

“Okay so I was thinking we could sing ” Dekh Lena”, what do you think?” She looked away from the painting and into my eyes.

“Yea sounds good, let’s look it up, and start trying to work out some harmonies,” she started walking towards my desk, and played the song several times. Then I got out my guitar and started playing. We sang the song together so beautifully that you would’ve thought we practiced it a million times. Now’s my chance I took a Post-it and a pen from my desk, wrote “I love you,” on it and gave it to swara. When she looked up I was right there waiting to kiss her beautiful, soft lips every so gently. When I backed away she looked at me with confusion in her eyes.

“Why me, why now?” she asked me.

“You’re beautiful, caring, smart, and most importantly you’re you Swara, I’ve been looking for someone like you before I even knew I was. It’s always been you I just didn’t realize it until the other day, when I asked you to be my partner,” I can’t believe I just said that, then again I had kissed her only a minute ago.
“What about all those other girls? Kavita? Kavya?” They meant nothing to me, but I guess it could’ve looked that way.

“I’ve been so stupid Swara, to even have looked at any other girl besides you. You have been there for me all the time, and I didn’t even notice you. How do you feel, you must think I’ve been a jerk over the years, I may be the one person who hate, and here I am stupid again pouring my heart out to someone who just puts up with me..well?” I’m regretting kissing her now, she hates me, why can’t I do anything right. I looked into her ocean blue eyes, and she kissed me gently.

“Does that answer your question,” she said smiling.

“Yes,” I said still staring deeply into her eyes. She broke my gaze by looking at her pkhone. She put her phone down on my desk, and returned to my gaze.

“Do you wanna stay for dinner,” I asked.

“Yes,” she replied, and I smiled, “but I can’t, I have to go home now.”

“You sure you can’t stay any longer?” I want to her to stay, badly.

“No, I’m so sorry, I told my mom I’d be home before she was to start on dinner,” she replied.
“Can’t you ask laksh to cover for you?” My eyes were pleading her to stay.

“No, he’s at football practice, sorry,” She said and got up walking to the door. I followed her downstairs to the front door. I stopped her at the door, and kissed her one last time.

“Bye, Shona,” I whispered. That was the first time I had called her Shona. She walked out the door, and started to make her way home. I stayed inside, holding onto what had just happened between us. I knew that everything was starting to look up, I had found the girl I had longed for, and she was mine, and nothing was going to change that, nothing, I ran back up stairs to my room, when I saw swara’s phone sitting on my desk she had recieved a text from Laksh.

Don’t go home, don’t trust Rajat stay away until I come get you, I’m a half hour away; stay at sanskar’s please, and whatever you do, do not come home.
“Oh no..”
