Chapter 58

Morning, Swara’s room
Early morning rays falling on Swara’s eyes woke her up, she opened her eyes and felt some weight on her waist, her lips curved into a smile as her eyes caught him, he was sleeping peacefully keeping his hand on her waist. The last night was blissful for her, when she was on the verge of losing everything he came as her savior and turned her life from hell to heaven…. A shy smile crossed her face reminiscing the last night. He kissed her every time he is out of sleep and she responded to him feeling his lips on hers even in the slumber, they wanted to be sure of each other’s presence and it was a beautiful way to do that…. She stared his calm face for long, and then filled with love she softly pecked his cheek but her touch brought him out of his sleep…… she quickly moved to depart from him noticing his consciousness but he held her locking her in his arms
“Now do, what you were doing” he said staring her with a playful smile
Obviously she was embarrassed, hell embarrassed on her behavior…..
“It’s ok baby, I am all yours, you can do whatever you want” although he said this to make her feel easy but the selection of his words made her more uncomfortable. Noticing the color of her face, he laughed a little “I am sorry, I didn’t mean to make you feel embarrassed” he stated kissing her forehead…..
Sanskar: by the way, good morning dear…
“good morning” she replied softly, remembered something confusion crossed over her face
Swara: (surprised) how come you are here?
Sanskar: (shocked with her question) Swara, don’t you remember I came to your room last night…. (he raised a brow) don’t tell me you forgot about your confession and our last night talk, are you suffering from amnesia?
Swara: (hit him on his chest) don’t make my fun, you were supposed to be in Mumbai for a meeting
Sanskar: (puzzled) really I do!!!
Swara: Laksh told me yesterday when I called him to ask about you….
Sanskar: there were no such plans Swara, I don’t know why he said that…
Swara: So, he fooled me, how could he?….. I cried half of the day over his lie…

Sanskar noticed her disappointed face, patting her cheek he said “My little brother and your so called friend is unpredictable so don’t just trust him blindly” Swara smiled to his words…..
“So you cried ha? Why you called him, you should have called me directly” he said teasingly…
Swara: as if you would have picked my call…..
Sanskar: off course I would, you know I was dying to hear your voice….
Swara stared him as he finished, their eyes caught and held together…. He moved closer to her lips but before he could have the pleasure to touch them, she kept her fingers on his lips…..
Swara: (looking at the clock) you should go before everybody wakes up….
Sanskar: (deep sigh) you are such a spoilsport Swara….
He showed his disappointment to her and stood up from the bed, she laughed over his behavior….. adjusting his clothes he was about to step out but she stopped him….
“Wait!! Your cell phone” she signaled him through eyes and then came up to him to pass it….
“Do you really want me to go?” he asked crossing his arms around her waist….
“yes” she said with determination….
“fine” he replied and before leaving pecked her lips softly, making her shocked….
“bye, see you at breakfast” he said with a smile and walked out…..
Swara looked around carefully and scanned the place for any ones presence, as they were standing on the door step from where they could get easily caught… and then smiled remembering his annoyed face….

Morning, at dining hall
All were shocked to see Swara and Sanskar at breakfast, they came there almost after 2 weeks….. their faces were glowing and lively after a long, all eyes were puzzled except one, Laksh was as cool as always… Annapurna could sense the calmness of her son….
Laksh: hey Swara, good to see you after a long….
She greeted him with a smile and sat next to Siya, Sanskar wanted to sit close to Swara but Laksh interfered in between….
Laksh: Come Bhai, sit here…
He signaled Sanskar to the chair placed vacant near him, unwillingly he moved there…..
They all started eating their breakfast, talking in between, smiling and laughing over Siya’s talks…. Amid all the happenings, Swara and Sanskar were stealing each other’s glance…..
Laksh: (whispering to Sanskar) finally you got your girl….
Sanskar: (shocked) No, who said that?
He didn’t want to reveal it to Laksh here as he knew his brother very well, he will create a scene which must be embarrassing for him and more for Swara….. Therefore he thought to break this news to all in his own way….
Laksh: (whispered) So, you were kissing her without patch up?
Sanskar choked with his food, Annapurna and Swara both exclaimed together “easy”, Annapurna looked suspiciously at Swara but then ignored. Laksh passed water to him…
Laksh: (in low voice) Don’t refute, I saw you in the morning outside Swara’s room, with her….
Sanskar: (annoyed) what the hell you were doing there in the crack of dawn?
Laksh: (playfully whispered) that’s not the point, the exciting news is that you two were together whole night in her room, right!!
Sanskar: (angrily) Lucky you….
Before he could scold his annoying little brother, Sujata interjected…
Sujata: (smirk) why don’t you boys go and talk about your important stuff in private….
She smiled as she looked at their perplexed faces, Sujata was sitting next to Laksh and both brothers were oblivious of her ears on their talks….. Sanskar was embarrassed, the thought which scared him actually turned into reality, the next few minutes were going to be awkward for him and Swara….

Annapurna: (looking at Sujata) Sujata what happened, why you are smiling?
Sujata: jiji, I think soon we will be going to welcome a new daughter-in-law in our house….am I right Swara (she teasingly looked at Swara)
Realizing What Sujata intended to say, Annapurna and Ragini looked at each other and then at Sawra, who was all embarrassed and hell nervous with this sudden disclosure, it was unexpected….. Annapurna looked at Sanskar with questionable eyes and got an answering smile from him…..
Ragini cheerfully stood up and hugged Swara “I am so happy Swara” she exclaimed in excitement, “come here Swara” Annapurna asked, Swara slowly moved up to her, her eyes were down…
“bless you dear, stay happy” Annapurna said kissing her forehead….. Sanskar noticed Swara’s nervousness…..
Sanskar: (shaking his head) first do your breakfast guys, you can continue all this later
Laksh: (teasingly) No…No, let them….. it’s really entertaining, giving a feel of a daily soap….
Ragini: shut up lucky, don’t you dare to make fun of us….
Siya who was witnessing everything amusingly, unable to understand what her family is talking about spoke up…
Siya: (curiously) why you all are so happy?
Ragini: (smile) Remember Siya once you asked your Shona di to marry your dad?
Siya: (sadly) yeah, but she refused…
Ragini: (looking at Swara) Now she agreed….
Siya: (squealed) really!!!
Siya looked at Ragini and as she nodded, the little doll ran and hugged Swara…
“yehhhh, now she will never leave me…..thank you di” she exclaimed joyfully making everyone laugh…..
No one imagined that this morning would bring back the light in their house, light of happiness, hope and a promising future…

Afternoon, Swara’s room
After so many days of darkness and despair her room was filled with laughter, giggles and smiles. Ragini, Sujata, Siya all were there with her….
Ragini: (to Sujata) Chachiji, where is mom?
Sujata: (smile) she went to Shiv temple, do you think an ardent devotee like her will ever forget to thank her lord…
Ragini: awww, mom is so sweet…
Sujata: ok dear, I am going now, I have to give this news to your chachaji, he will be very happy…. Let me call him…
She caressed Swara’s face and walked out…..
Siya: (innocently) Shona di let’s play something….
Swara: Siya, after a week is your exams…. You even skipped your school today, this is not good…
Siya: (pout) all these days when you were ill, dad used to teach me…. I have been studying really hard…..
Swara: (making her sit on her lap) I am sorry dear for being ignorant…. Ok we will do what you will say but from tomorrow, less masti and more studies…
Siya’s face lit up as Swara accepted her request…. Ragini was silently observing them, admiring their affection and understanding…. “Swara you are a blessing not only for Sanskar but for Siya also” she thought….

Night, Annapurna’s room
Swara was massaging Annapurna’s feet, the feet were swollen and little aching…. And it’s expected, after taking 21 parikrimas (round) of a holly pond, a woman of late sixties would surely suffer like this…..
Swara: aunty, why you did this?
Annapurna: it’s all about trust, I don’t know whether people of your generation believe in these things or not but I do, I have prayed for you and Sanskar and wished for your togetherness…. And when your wish is fulfilled you have to do the necessary ritual….
Swara stared her, tears brimmed in her eyes, tears of guilt they were…. She accused herself thinking how all suffered because of her stupidity and adamant behavior….
“I am sorry aunty” she said in faint voice….
Annapurna: (shocked) Swara, it’s ok dear…. I am fine….. don’t be sorry, instead I am thankful to you. Thank you so much for coming in our life, you are a benediction to my son….. answer of all my prayers…. I was always been worried for him but now no more worries. Just keep him happy beta….
“I will” Swara replied holding her hands….
“What’s going on here?” the voice disrupted their emotional conversation, they turned around and found Sanskar standing at the door step…. They whipped their tears….
Annapurna: Sanskar why are you roaming in the mansion, can’t you just sleep??
Sanskar: I came to see you mom…
Annapurna: (teasing tone) really you came to see me or….
She took an eloquent pause and then smirked, Sanskar raised an eyebrow over his mother’s teasing words while Swara looked helplessly at Sanskar…. Annapurna couldn’t control and laughed over the awkward situation she created….

Sometime later, Garden
Swara was silently sitting there on the bench, little away from Sanskar….. She was upset with him, although he was trying to pacify her…..
Sanskar: (anxiously) Swara please talk to me…. what I have done?
Swara: (disappointed) Do you know how embarrassing the entire day for me, and what happened just now in aunty’s room, was not it’s your fault?
Sanskar: In morning it was Lucky who messed up everything, I didn’t utter a word….. and about Mom, she didn’t said it to make you feel embarrassed…… and why you are so much bothered Swara, after all we had to tell this to everyone…
Swara: I know but then I must have prepared myself….
“Seriously this girl is impossible” he thought shaking his head, getting no reply, she looked at him from the corner of her eyes…. He was silently looking at the surrounding….
Swara: (to herself) why he is not saying anything? At least a sorry…..
Sanskar: (to himself) Come on Sanskar, say sorry….. now you should learn to chant this word every time, whether it’s your fault or not….
Swara: (to herself) Swara, when will you learn from your mistakes….. you are again accusing him unnecessarily….. it wasn’t his fault……
Sanskar: (to himself) I can’t afford to upset her again…
Swara: (to herself) what should I do now?
When Sanskar was engulfed in search of words to pacify her, she surprised him by encircling her arms around his shoulders and placed her head on his chest…. His lips curved into a small smile…. Embracing her back he kissed her hairs softly…..
“I am sorry” they said together…. Then laughed a little realizing it…..
“You came there to see me?” she asked affectionately
“What do you think?” he said staring her, she smiled looking at him….
When you are in love, you don’t need words to answer every question…..
