CHAPTER 18
~WEDDING BELLS ARE RINGING ~
The whole Gadodia family was decorated with lights of different colors and wedding flowers. It looked like a big, fat,Indian wedding. The entire lawn had been decorated with pink and orange silk cloths to form the ceiling canopy. It had a beautiful garden with creepers that had been coiled with lights. There were fresh flowers centerpieces kept on the table with chairs that had been tied with a pink pretty bows. The house was beautifully set up for the function. It really looked like a heaven. Afterall it was the engagement function of Swara and Sanskar. Sanskar was wearing a blue sherwani and Laksh was wearing a black kurta. Sanskar’s eyes were searching for someone. Swara came downstairs with her mom and Ragini. All eyes were on her as she descended the stairs. She was wearing a silver and golden lehenga. Her hairs were neatly tied in a side bun and a heavy duppata rested on the top of her head. She was also wearing a diamond set with matching earrings that added grace to the overall look. An intricate nose ring called “nath” completed her look. In short Swara was looking like a divine. Ragini too looked gorgeous in a pink and white saree.
“Beta we welcome you in our family with open arms. We’ll take care of you the same way your parents did for so many years. You can share everything with us and please consider me your dad not ur father in law”,DP said affectionately.
Swara couldn’t stop her tears. When a girl leaves her parents with whom she has stayed all her life and enters a completely new family, she hopes of receiving the same love and affection from them.
“Its time to exchange the rings”,Shekhar announced.
Sharmistha brought a tray with two boxes of rings. She opened one and gave it to Sanskar. Sanskar took that ring and looked at Swara who had tears of happiness in her eyes. He recalled the day when he saw Swara for the first time. Sanskar slided that ring in her finger and everyone clapped for them. Swara too slided that ring In Sanskar’s finger. Both hugged each other.

It was the sangeet day. Swara was wearing a pink lehenga and Ragini was wearing a blue lehenga. Sanskar was wearing a blue sherwani and Laksh was wearing a white sherwani. The Sangeet ceremony began with some aunties singing song and playing the dholki. Ragini insisted Swara and Sanskar to dance together.
Sajde Mein Yun Hi Jhukta Hoon
Tum Pe Hi Aa Ke Rukhta Hoon
Kya Yeh Sab Ko Hota Hai

Hum Ko Kya Lena Hai Sab Se
Tum Se Hi Sab Baatein Ab Se
Ban Gaye Ho Tum Meri Dua
Khuda Jaane Ke Mein Fida Hoon
Khuda Jaane Mein Mitt Gaya
Khuda Jaane Yeh Kyun Hua Hai
Ke Ban Gaye Ho Tum Mere Khuda
Hand in hand their feet moved in rhythm to the music as he held her firmly by the waist.
Tu Kahe To Tere Hi Kadam Ke
Main Nishanon Pe
Chalun Rukun Ishaare Pe
Tu Kahe To Khwabon Ka Bana Ke
Main Bahana Sa
Mila Karun Sirhaane Pe
Ho Tum Pe Dil Ki Baatein Seekhi
Tum Se Hi Yeh Raahein Seekhi
Tum Pe Mar Ke Main To Jee Gaya
Khuda Jaane Ke Mein Fida Hoon
Khuda Jaane Mein Mitt Gaya
Khuda Jaane Yeh Kyun Hua Hai
Ke Ban Gaye Ho Tum Mere Khuda
Sanskar swirled her. They both looked at each other and smiled. Sanskar pulled Swara closer by holding her waist and Sanskar put her hand on his shoulders. Sanskar spinned Swara and he held her firmly by her waist.
Dil Kahe Ke Aaj To Chupa Lo Tum
Panahon Mein
Ke Daar Hai Tum Ko Kha Doonga
Dil Kahe Sambhal Zara Khushi Ko
Na Nazar Laga
Ke Daar Hai Mein To Ro Doonga

O Karti Hoon Sau Vaade Tum Se
Baandhe Dil Ke Dhaage Tum Se
Yeh Tumhe Na Jaane Kya Hua

Khuda Jaane Ke Mein Fida Hoon
Khuda Jaane Mein Mitt Gaya
Khuda Jaane Yeh Kyun Hua Hai
Ke Ban Gaye Ho Tum Mere Khuda
Laksh pulled Ragini to the dance floor. Laksh was looking at Ragini where as she was looking down.

Love was in the air. It was an beautiful moment for four of them. Love had entered Ragini’s life just Ragini had to recognize it.

Mehendi was the last major function before the wedding. Mehendiwallis had been called to both their houses to apply mehendi on Swara’s hands and feets and all the relatives. Swara had written her and Sanskar’s name on her left hand. It brought a smile on Sanskar’s face. He wanted to kiss her hand. Swara’s mehendi was looking extremely beautiful. It was upto her elbows and was very intricate and delicate on her. The happiness and satisfaction of getting married to the person whom you love was visible in her eyes. She showed her mehendi to Laksh. Laksh stared at Ragini’s mehendi in silence.
“Beta you both are not supposed to meet each other till the wedding”,Sumi said and left.
“How can Sanskar stay away from Swara. Even Swara cannot”,Laksh said.
“Shut up”,Swara said.
*****************************
Finally that day arrived which holds utmost importance in a person’s life. It can either bring you immense amount of happiness or completely ruin your life. The morning seemed different from all the other mornings.
The wedding day arrived!
Marriage is a responsibility which two people accept in their life. It is about standing together and facing the world. It is never taking the other for granted. It is not only marrying the right partner, it is being the right partner.
The haldi ceremony started with everyone dipping their fingers in a bowl containing the haldi paste and smeared it all over Swara and Sanskar. The purpose was to make their skin glow for the special day. Not even one inch of their body was spared.
“Swara you are looking like a yellow mamba”,Laksh piped in.
Swara took a paste and applied it all over his face.

The priest started performing some puja and washed a set of red and white bangles in milk. The bangles are considered a symbol of love. Red and white with the couple’s names carved in it. Sumi made Swara wear a white bangle and had a red silk thread on it.
Finally it was evening and time for marriage. Special attention was paid to include a generous dose of colour red in the wedding. The red curtains and red covers added the essence of romance to the day. The red candles, the red lamps and even the red vases gave it a romantic feel. After a long journey of love, they were one step closer to a happy life together.
***********************
Sanskar sat on the traditional wedding horse and the baraat started off with display of fireworks. It was accompanied by the rhythm of dhol. Everyone danced as if drunk. A proper barat dance!! The baarat arrived at Swara’s house. Sumi welcomed Sanskar by doing his arti. Shekhar embraced DP.
Swara looked drop dead gerogous as she walked towards the mandap. Her rer and maroon lehenga had heavy work all over it. She had taken her duppata over her head which made her look no less than a princess. She made for a perfect bride! Her jewellery matched her outfit. Walking beside her was Ragini in a blue and yellow lehenga that showed off her slim figure and she looked lovely.
Sanskar looked like a perfect groom in his Beige Royal Sherwani. Laksh too looked perfect in a blue and maroon sherwani.
Ajnabi kahe ki apna kahe
Ab kya kahein kya na kahein
Both Swara and Sanskar exchanged the garlands.
Ishare bhi chup hain
Zubaan khamosh hai
Sadaa gumsum si hai
Tanha aagosh hai
Ragini tied their knots and the priest chanted the sacred mantra and asked them to take seven pheras around the sacred fire.
Yaara re, yaara re..
Kyun faaslon mein bhi tu yaara re
Promise one- We will always be together.
Promise two-We will always trust each other.
Promise three- We will take each other for granted.
Promise four- We will always be happy with each other.
Promise five- We will never let any misunderstanding come in our love.
Promise six- We will always protect and respect each other.
Promise seven- We will never let our love fade.
Sanskar whispered all these promises in Swara’s ear.
Tu chhoot kar kyun chhoota nahi
Kuch toh judaa hai abhi
Main toot kar kyun toota nahi
Jeene mein hai tu kahin
The priest called Shekhar and sumi for Kanyadan. Sumi had tears in her eyes. Sanskar smiled and assured her that he will always love Swara. Shekhar and Sumi did the Kanyadan.
Ishaare bhi chup hain
Zubaan khamosh hai
Sada gumsum si hai
Tanha aagosh hai
Laksh looked at Ragini who was crying silently. Laksh held her hands and assured her that her sister is going nowhere.
Yara re, yara re..
Kyun faaslon mein bhi tu yaara re
The pandit asked Sanskar to tie the mngalsutra around her neck and fill vermilion in her hairline. Sanskar did so. Finally they were married.
Hai har ghadi woh tishnagi
Jo ek pal bhi na bujhi
Hai zindagi chalti hui
Par ye zindagi hi nahi
Swasan took elder:s blessings and it was time for Swara to bid bye to her family. Swara hugged her father and cried. Swara hugged her mother for the final time before leaving. Her mom wiped her tears. Swara and Ragini both just looked at each other and held hands. They were not ready to leave each other.
Ishare bhi chup hain
Zubaan khamosh hai
Sada gumsum si hai
Tanha aagosh hai
While departing Swara threw puffed rice over her head, another ritual indicating she was leaving behind good wishes for her family. She left behind the childhood memories related to her house and went to a completely new house. She sped away to her new life.
Yaara re, yaara re..
Kyun faaslon mein bhi tu yaara re
Laksh looked at Ragini and his thoughts kept going back to her and their future. Would their love story walk on the same path as Swara’s and Sanskar’s? Or would there be something unpredictable, something which could change the course of their paths entirely?

So guys how was it??? Please do comment and let me now. I will definitely try to post the next chapy soon.
THANK YOU!
Love you all forever! 😉
