Part 53:

The next day everyone came back from work and headed straight to practice their dance routines. When they took a break Meghna went to check on the twins who were with Nirmala. Naina took snacks for everyone in the living area. Khyati received a phone call and went into the garden.
Khyati: Hi Rahul.
Rahul: Hi Khyati, how are you?
Khyati: I’m good, how are you and Mom and Dad.
Rahul: We’re all good.
Khyati: Did you call a specific reason or…
Rahu: Just to talk to you.
Khyati: I guess we can do that.
Karan and Naina went into the garden and saw Khyati sat down and laughing as she spoke on the phone.
Karan: Why are you so happy?
Naina elbowed Karan.
Karan: What was that for?
Khyati laughed: Okay, I’ll talk to you later. Bye.
Rahul: Bye.

Khyati put her phone down.
Khyati: What did you want Karan Bhai?
Karan: I didn’t want to be elbowed in the stomach but it’s what I got.
Naina: Because you asked a dumb question.
Karan: What?
Naina: Khyati was on the phone to Rahul so of course she’ll be having fun.
Khyati blushed.
Karan: Oh, just like we spoke all the time before our wedding.
Naina: Exactly.
Karan: I liked our chats back then, we’d talk about…
Khyati: I don’t need or want to know.
Karan laughed: Yeah you wouldn’t.
Khyati pursed her lips: I’ll get going then.
Khyati left laughing. Naina was confused the understood.
Naina: You!
She pinched Karans arm.

Karan: Whaaat!
Naina: You made her think we would talk about other things.
Karan: What other things?
Naina: You know! Eek things.
Karan laughed at his wife.
Karan: So innocent.
Naina: But we never did!
Karan: I know.
Naina: YOU!
Naina stormed off.

Karan was walking behind her.
Naina went into the living area and then headed up to her room in anger.
Meghna saw the anger and then saw Karan who was going to walk upstairs but decided to stay down. He took a seat next to Kunal.
Karan: Bhai; girls are so complicated!
He whispered to his brother.
Kunal smirked: For one thing they liked to be called women, not girls.
Karan: Exactly what I mean.
Kunal: Why, what happened?
Karan: I kind of got Naina upset.
Kunal: Why don’t you get my partner upset?
Karan.: I didn’t mean to.
Kunal: I’m sure you didn’t but you should make it up to her.
Karan: How?
Kunal: I can’t tell you everything, one thing I’ve learnt is that women like it when their husbands do things themselves without anyone’s help.
Karan: Thanks Bhai.
Kunal: Anytime.
Meghna heard the conversation and smiled her her husband and devar.
Meghna (mind): Bless these two boys!

Karan went to his room and saw Naina putting her clothes away and getting ready for bed. Karan hugged Naina from the back but Naina got our of his embrace.
Karan: Naina, I’m sorry.
Naina didn’t say anything instead she just got into bed and turned of her lamp.
Karan didn’t know what to do.
Karan (mind) :Tomorrow is another day.

Thursday morning Karan made breakfast in bed for Naina. He put the tray I front of her she looked at him and smiled then went back to a serious face.
Naina: Nice try.
Naina moved the tray and left to get ready for work.
Karan watched her and picked up a slice for toast and started eating it.
Karan: What do I do now?
He asked himself.

The whole day went by, Karan and Kunal walked in and saw their wives sat in the living room with their mother and the babies. Naina was recording the babies as they crawled and tried standing up and walking.
Kunal: Hey guys!
They all looked at the two men walking into the living area.
Maahir was standing with the help of Meghna and was trying to walk to his Dad.
Kunal crouched down and motioned Maahir to walk to him.
Kunal: Come to Baba Champ.
Meghna slowly let go of Maahir and he started walking for himself.
Meghna: Chiku, are you recording?
Nainna: Haan Di.
Nirmala: My grandson is walking!
Kunal: That’s right Champ, slowly.
Right at the end Maahir was a few inches away from Kunal and just sat down.
Everyone laughed.
Karan: He gave up!
Meghna: He’ll try again. Won’t he?
Karan looked at Meghna and knew what she was talking about.
Karan: He will.

It was late evening and the twins were sleeping, Kunal and Meghna left their room door open and went downstairs to practice their dances.
Meghna, Karan and Arjun were in the Garden while Kunal and Naina were in the living area
Kunal: Naina?
Naina: Haan Jeeju?
Kunal: Is everything okay between you and Karan?
Naina: Yeah, everything’s good.
Kunal: Naina, I’m your Jeeju and your friend, if you ever need to talk you can talk to me.
Naina smiled: Thanks Jeeju.
Kunal: You’re welcome.
A few seconds of silence went and Naina bursted out the problem.
Kunal laughed: Naina!
Naina: Jeeju!
Kunal: Karan has been trying to win you over, so why don’t you accept his apology?
Naina: I don’t know, I wwasn’t thinking.
Kunal: Can I give you some advice?
Naina: Of course.

Kunal: Next time he does something, to say sorry, maybe accept it because he’s a very lost boy and he hasn’t even taken advice from me because I told him to think for himself
Naina: Really?
Kunal nodded: Yeah, I thought he’d come back running but now you know he really is trying.
Naina hugged Kunal: Thank you Jeeju! For listening and giving me your advice.
Kunal: Anytime Naina.
Garden:
Karan: I don’t have any idea of how to win her over!
Arjun: Do something big!
Meghna: No!
Karan and Arjun looked at Meghna.
Meghna: You boys! I said I won’t give you any ideas and I’m not, I’m going to give you a hint.
Karan: Thank you!
Meghna: You both need to understand that yes girls like big gestures but they also like small ones. Naina would appreciate the smallest thing.
Arjun: So what should Karan Bhai do?
Karan: Yeah, what should poor, helpless Karan Bhai do!
Meghna laughed: Karan, you’ll know what to do and when to do it, there’s a time and place.
Arjun: So he’ll have to wait?
Meghna: Yes, patience is the answer.
Arjun: Are you sure Bhabi?
Meghna: I am, I truly am.
Karan: Okay Bhabi, I’ll wait.
Meghna: Good! Now come on we need to practice our group performance if we want to win tomorrow.
Arjun: Haan, Chalo!

It was Friday, everyone was home getting things ready for the engagement party which was happening at the Chauhan house.
Meghna and Naina were helping Nirmala with all the arrangements. The men were looking after the decorations.
It was evening time and everyone got ready.
