Part 87:
The next few months went swiftly. Karan and Naina were great parents, obviously there were sleepless nights but that’s what they learned with parenting as well as how many pairs of clothes the twins will ruin in a day. Karan and Naina would always ask Kunal and Meghna to help them with the starbgest things. The months went with so much fun and laughter at the Chauhan house. The babies were crawling now, Karan headed back to work at the school but Naina had been working from home. She was on top of things, the babies needs, the house work as well as work work. Life was good. Kaira and Maahir were being taken care of Nirmala and Naina, they’re were going to turn 2 very soon. Meghna and Kunal both took days off and worked home from time to time so they could bond with the babies.
It was a Friday lunchtime, Kunal and Meghna were leaving the office building to get lunch.
Meghna: I’m really hungry.
Kunal: You didn’t even have breakfast.
Meghna: I had…
Kunal: Just tea doesn’t count as breakfast.
Kunal flicked Meghnas nose with his index finger in a sweet manner.
Meghna laughed.
They were walking to the car hand in hand when a girl bumped into them.
Girl: Di! Please help me! They’ll take me back there, I don’t want to go back there! Please!
The girl was looking behind her and didn’t look at Meghna. Her hair was covering her face and she was wearing hospital clothes.
Meghna turned the girl and around and moved away the hair from her face, she cupped her face.
Meghna: Sanjana?!
Kunal was looking at the girl in shock.
Kunal and Meghna looked at one another.
Meghna: Kunal…
Kunal: You get her into the car, I’ll take care of them.
Meghna got a scarf out from her bag, hid Sanjanas face with and then sat at the back of the car with her.
A group of nurses were making their way towards Kunal.
Nurse1: Sir did you see a girl?
Kunal: There are many girls here.
Nurse2: She was wearing hospital clothes, she isn’t safe to be with.
Nurse3: She belongs in the local mental hospital.
Kunal: Oh that girl! Yeaah, she went that way.
He pointed at the opposite direction.
Nurse4: Thank you.
Kunal: You’re welcome.
He waited for the four of the nurses to go and then got into his car.
Kunal: Meghna, that’s Sanjana!
Meghna: I know! We need to take her to our house.
Kunal: I’m heading there now.
Meghna: All these years.
Kunal: What will happen when Naina sees her?
Sanjana: Naina? Who is Naina Didi?
Meghna moved scars away and cupped Sanjana face: Naina is your friend Sanjana. Your best friend.
Sanjana: How do you know my name Didi?
Meghan smiled: I know your Di did, of course I’ll know.
Sanjana smiled and hugged Meghna.
Kunal: She doesn’t bLong where she came from.
Meghna: That’s wh we’re taking her home.
Kunal drove to the house. Meghna walked in the house with Sanjana, the scarf was over her head and covering her face again.
Naina was in the living area with Nirmala and he babies.
She looked at the door way.
Naina: Di? You’re here? Where’s Jeeju and who’s that with you?
Kunal walked in and stood next to Meghna.
Kunal: You can move the scarf now Meghna.
Meghna moved the scarf away from Sanjana face. Naina was shocked.
Naina: Sanju!?
Naina got off her seat and ran to hug Sanjana.
Sanjana felt confused but hugged her back.
Naina then let go and swiped away the hairs that covered Sanjanas face.
Naina: Why don’t you say anything Sanju?
Sanjana looked at Meghna.
Naina: Di what’s going on?
Kunal: Meghna, you take Sanjana to see Mom and I’ll explain to Naina.
Meghna: Okay.
She held Sanjanas hand.
Meghna: Come on Sanjana, let’s go and meet your Auntie.
The duo walked to Nirmala.
