Part 70:
They three got home and went to their rooms. Meghna walked in her room and saw a sleeping Kunal leaning against his pillow with an open book in his hand. She smiled to herself and walked to him. She took the book out of his hand and placed it on the beside table leaving a bookmark on the page he had opened to but to her surprise she saw a bookmark which was a photo of her. She put the blanket over him and turned to leave but was stopped by Kunal holding her hand.
Meghna: Kunal, sorry I woke you.
Kunal: I was waiting for you, sit with me.
Meghna sat next to Kunal.
Kunal: How did it go?
Meghna: It went well, though we were about to get caught.
Kunal: By Mr Rathore?
Meghna: Yeah, luckily Auntie and Arohi covered for us and we left before he could see us.
Kunal: That’s good, did you manage to hide the camera?
Meghna: Karan placed it and he turned it on.
Kunal: Awesome, now I just need to turn my laptop on and we can see everything.
Kunal got his laptop that was next to him and he turned it on.
Kunal: How was Auntie? I mean after telling her everything.
Meghna: She took it well, he has changed for them. You could tell.
Kunal: I did mention that he doesn’t seem like a man that would want to harm any of us.
Meghna: If he were to then there must be a reason.
Kunal: You think Trishna and Nikhil have something on him? Something that they’ll be able to control even while in prison?
Meghna: As scary as it sounds, yes I do.
Kunal: We need to find out what it is.
Meghna: We will, with your camera.
Kunal logged in and took a look at what the camera was recording.
Kunal: The room is empty.
Meghna: Maybe he went to sleep?
Kunal: Reasonable enough.
Meghna: We’ll look at it tomorrow morning.
Kunal: Yeah, let’s get to sleep.
Meghna: First you have to do some foot exercises.
Kunal: I do, don’t I?
Meghna: Yes.
Meghna took the laptop away and then helped Kunal sit up. Kunal was trying to move his toes and slowly he was able to do so.
Meghna: That’s it, take it easy okay?
Kunal: Trust me, it’s easier than it looks.
Meghna smiled: I’m glad you’re feeling better.
Kunal: Me too.
After a little more exercise the couple went to sleep.
Next morning Karan and Naina woke and got ready for work.
Karan: Naina, I will be late today.
Naina: Why?
Karan: I’m having lunch with a friend.
Naina: Oh okay. Have fun.
She said smiling.
Karan: Won’t you ask if it’s a woman or man.
Naina: Why would that matter?
Karan: So you’re not overprotective of me?
Naina: I am protective, just not possessive.
Karan: Why not?
Naina laughed: Do you want me to be possessive?
Karan: Of course I do, because I’m possessive over you.
Naina: Exactly, you be the possessive one while I be the calm one.
Karan: Is that how it works?
He said pulling her close to him.
Naina: In our relationship, yes.
Karan: I’m glad I have you as my wife.
Naina: I’m glad to be your wife.
Karan: I need to head to work, I’ll see you in the evening.
Naina: Bye.
Karan kissed her cheek: By the way I’m having lunch with Prem.
Naina laughed: A man!
Karan: Married man!
They both laughed and Karan left the room.
Naina went to Kunal and Meghnas room as she was staying home.
She saw Meghna and Kunal on the bed with the twins.
Kunal: Good Morning Naina.
Naina: Good Morning Jeeju, good morning Di.
Meghna: Good Morning Chiku.
Naina took a seat and held Maahir.
Kunal: Good you’re here, we can check what the camera picked up.
Meghna: Good idea.
Naina: What do you think we’ll find?
Kunal: I hope some clues.
Kunal turned on his laptop and looked at the footage. They all watched it but the room was empty.
Meghna: Didn’t he come in or something?
Kunal: Wait, there he is.
The video showed Akshay (Mr Rathore= Arohi’s Dad=Akshay) sitting on the table and getting his phone out and making a call.
Naina: Isn’t there any audio?
Kunal: Oh no, I forgot to tell Karan how to turn the mic on.
Meghna: No, we turned it on though. It was the back switch right?
Kunal: Yeah.
Naina: Then why can’t we hear anything?
Meghna put the volume up, Kunal had it on mute.
Kunal: Oops!
Meghna: Count on you to do something so silly.
Kunal: Yes yes, now let’s focus on the video.
Naina and Meghna laughed.
They continued the video.
(NEXT SCENE IS WHAT THEY SEE AND HEAR FROM THE VIDEO)
Akshay: Listen, they can’t get out.
There was a pause.
Akshay: You’re my lawyer first then there’s.
Another pause.
Akshay: You need to give me more time.
Akshay put the phone down and left.
Kunal, Meghna and Naina exchanged looks.
Meghna: They? He means Trishna and Nikhil doesn’t he?
Naina and Kunal held Meghnas hand.
Kunal: Meghna, nothing will happen.
Naina: Haan, we need to wait for more answers.
Meghna was scared: What if they do get out?
Kunal: They won’t.
Naina: Everything will be fine.
Meghna: I trust you guys but after everything they did, you both and our family and…
Kunal: I told you, as long as I’m here nothing will happen, we’re all here as a family an we will get through every obstacle.
Naina: That’s what we do.
Meghna smiled: You’re right, thank you.
It was lunch and Naina got a phone call from Karan.
Karan: What are you upto sweetheart?
Naina: Just finished having lunch, have you had yours?
Karan: Just sitting to eat.
Naina: Good, oh yeah we saw the camera footage.
Karan: What did you find?
Naina explained to Karan what they saw.
Karan: We’ll have to wait a little longer before we can do or say anything to Akshay Uncle.
Naina: Yeah, if we don’t have any evidence then what’s the point?
Karan: Exactly, now I’ll see you later okay?
Naina: Okay, bye.
Karan: Love you.
Naina: Love you too.
Naina hung up the phone and went back to her work.
It was evening time, everyone was sat in the living room apart from Meghna who was sat outside on the chair. She was thinking about everything, she closed her eyes and all she could see was Kunal on the floor after he’d been shot. She felt a hand on her shoulder.
Meghna: Kunal!
She opened her eyes.
Naina: Di?
Naina sat in front Meghna.
Naina: What’s wrong Di?
Meghna: Chiku!
Naina hugged her sister.
Naina: It’s okay, I’m here.
Naina let go and sat on Meghnas lap ( Just like in the show! I loved that scene so much!)
Meghna: Chiku, I can’t get that day out if my head.
Naina: Di, everything will be fine soon.
Meghna: I know, but I want Kunal to get back to being him.
Naina: He will, but it will take time.
Meghna: He doesn’t want to be like that anymore, so I’ve got an idea.
Naina: What idea? For what?
Meghna: To get Kunal to walk again.
Meghna shared her idea.
Karan: No Bhabi.
Naina and Meghna tuned to see Karan make his way to the duo.
Meghna: Karan?
Karan: It’s too dangerous.
Naina: I agree, we can’t risk you.
Meghna: Guys, we have to. It will work.
Karan: Bhabi, as much Bhai loves you me nor Naina will be able to watch you go through it.
Naina: Di, understand…
Meghna: Please.
Karan and Naina looked at each other.
Meghna: I need Kunal back. Please, do this for me.
Meghna was folding her hands in front of the couple but Karan and Naina held her hand.
Naina: DI, don’t.
Karan: We’ll do it but please don’t ever fold your hands in front of us.
Meghna: I promise I won’t and thank you.
Naina: How do we tell everyone else?
Karan: It will be hard, but I’m sure they’ll hear us out.
Meghna: Let’s tell them now and get our plan in action tomorrow.
Karan: Bhai is in his room lying down so now sounds good.
The trio went into the living.
Dadaji: Why are you guys looking so glum?
Nirmala: Is everything okay?
Karan: Mom, Bhabi wants to tell you something.
Meghna explained to them the plan she came up with.
NK: Meghna Bahu, that’s too dangerous.
Sandhya: Bhaisab is right, you can’t out yourself in that much danger.
Naina: We’ve explained that to Di but she wants Jeeju to be back to normal.
Dadaji: Badi Bahu, come and sit next to me.
Meghan walked to Dadji and sat with him.
Dadaji: Your plan is very risky.
Nirmala: If anything happens to you Kunal will be even more broken.
Meghna: Maa, nothing will happen, I have you all.
Dadaji: Are you sure you want to go with the plan?
Meghna: Dadu, if you’re with me then yes but if you say no then I understand.
Karan: Naina and I have agreed because we don’t want Bhabi to be upset.
Sandhya: I think we should do it.
NK was hesitating.
Meghna: Papa?
NK: Okay, but we have to be very careful.
Meghna smiled.
Naina sat next to Nirmala.
Naina: Maa? What do you say?
Nirmala smiled slowly and nodded her head.
Nirmala: Alright, but just like your father said, we need to be careful, we can’t risk anything ahooening to you Meghna.
Meghna held Nirmalas hand: I promise Maa, nothing bad will happen.
