Sushant Divgikr speaks on behalf of the transgender community at Harvard University
Bigg Boss fame Sushant Divgikr aka Rani Ko-HE-Nur, recently shared a reel on her Instagram profile, where she was seen representing his community at Harvard University. Sushant proudly spoke in the video about representing the transgender community.
In the video, Sushant talked about representing India among the two other transgender people and how proud she felt. Sushant also shared an incident from her talks at events and said, “people are confused when I speak and ask who’s that and who is speaking for her and then I eventually go on singing in my Maharashtrian language which is my mother tongue”. Sushant sang the famous Marathi song ‘Apsara Aali’ in front of students at the University.
She captioned the post as, “NamaSLAY! I really don’t understand why not enough media would just cover transgender / queer people and artistes scaling new heights every day ! I’m just going to keep sharing as many snippets of the India Conference at Harvard University that I was recently at and the fact that three Indian Transgender people were part of this amazing panel and that we represented our country , India so beautifully internationally !
She added, “This is also such a strong message that you see A Doctor (@doctorsaheba ) , an author , theatre artist and activist (@revathi.amb ) and a drag artiste , performing artiste and activist , all of whom happen to be transgender AND INDIAN on this panel !
This breaks all the stereotypes that trans people are only about begging and s*x work , a stereotype that our films and tv industries can take complete credit for as they portrayed us terribly over the years !
But now , times are changing ! We have better content , better opportunities and a more empathetic generation ! We need to change the narrative and I hope we are all together in creating this change ! A big shoutout to @harvardindiacon @ananyac05 and team for this wonderful initiative and thank you for inviting us. Here’s to many more trans stories being told and celebrated ❤️❤️🤌🏼”
