THE STORY OF US – EPILOGUE by Sana & Thank you Note

hey there, so here is the epilogue as promised. This is my birthday treat and hope you enjoy it.

ANIKA’S POV

The sun light filled the sky, it was a breathtaking display of colours. The rhythm of melody from the birds and air breezing through the opened window made it even more beautiful day that it already is. Anika stretched her hands, her abdomen hurt but still she sat with her beautiful face framed by dark brown long hair flinching in pain.

The pain faded away when she took the sight of the whole room and the memories of last night flooded in her mind. A small smile played on her lips when she saw the sleeping figure of her husband by the bed in an uncomfortable sitting position. The smile grew more wider when she saw the crib a hand away from her and their baby clurled up like a snow sleeping peacefully on it.

It was a pleasant pain and all the screaming, crying in pain, the morning sickness, mood swings were all worth for the baby girl. If anything, being a mother was the most happiest moment in her life aside from taking rounds with Shivaye on the mandap in the presence of whole family. The promises of forever was said and thinking about three years now, it just like like only yesterday.

For a moment yesterday, while delivering my baby girl I thought I wouldn’t make it. There was complications and Shivaye was extremely afraid and worried about me. He didn’t stop pacing and he face looked so pale. He held my hand as tears filled his eyes and he had whispered to me “I love you and I believe in you. I wish I could take this pain away from you.” It brought a smile to my face.

Shivaye is the perfect husband. Some days he wakes early in the morning and makes breakfast for me. He calls every now and then asking whether I had food or not etc. He stayed with me till late night when I was in pain. He plays guitar for me and we sneaks out whenever I craved for ice cream at midnight. He would surprise me every time by taking me to a date or not to going to work. I love him so much and I’m so lucky to have him.

I ran my fingers through his damp hair and kissed his forehead. He rubbed his eyes and slowly opened them looking at me. “Good morning, darling.” He said as he sat straight and a small smile formed in his lips and he added “I am a daddy now.”

“Yes, you are and you are going to be the best father in the world.” I said smiling to him.

“Am I going to be?”

“Definitely, Shivaye.” I assured squeezing his hand and he grinned.

“Can you take her and let me hold her?” I asked him and he nodded standing up and walked to towards the crib. He slowly bend down and took our baby in his hands and kissed her forehead.

“Daddy is here, princess.” He said rocking her back and forth so she won’t wake up from her beauty sleep.

My eyes welled up at the sweet moment and Shivaye came to me. I held the bundle of joy in my arms and kissed her cheeks. Shivaye wrapped his arms around us and we stayed there like that for a moment until the door knocked.

Sahil, Rudra, Om, Priyanka, Pinky mom, Badema, Shakti dad, badepa, Dadi, Soumya and new bride Gauri entered the room with a wide smile. They were here last night but since it was midnight and expect for one person everyone had to leave.

“Oh my mata, she is so cute. Wake up dear your dadi is here.” Mom said cradling in her arms and showering her with kisses. Shivaye looked at me and smiled. The baby girl was passed to everyone and all of them introduced themselves to her as if she could understand and remember.

“She is my sister and if anyone hurt her I will beat the crap out of him.” Sahil said and I hugged him. He will always be my first child.

“Aw, she is so cute like her chacha.” Rudra said and everyone burst laughing.

“My baby is way more cuter than you.” Shivaye said and Soumya wiped Rudra’s imaginative tears.

They were the adorable couple. At one point of their life they realized they were head over heels in love with each other. They got hitched last month and will tie knots soon. Another big fat wedding is lined up.

“She is just like an angel. Each child is an angel, they are so pure and innocent.” Om said making the whole room silent and everyone admired the Angel in my arms.

The feeling of holding her is something that I can put words into. It’s like all that matters is my princess and all the worries are fled from my mind. Trust me, having a baby is the most wonderful thing in the world even though it is hard but it is worth.

She slowly stirred in her sleep and opened her Hazel Green eyes which she have inherited from her daddy. My heart filled with love and everyone gasped inching closer to her. I ran my fingers through her brown chocolate hair and smiled.

“Have you guys thought a name for her?” Gauri asked and I exchanged glances with Shivaye.

Gauri was just like another sister for us. She mingled with us fastly. She was so sweet and selfess that she will sacrifice anything for the people she loved. Om met her at Tia’s marriage and exchanged numbers. Midnight conversations and sneaking built a relationship and they are happily married after.

“Bhaiya, don’t let bhabhi choose the name
she would go for something like champa and all.” Rudra said and I glared at him.

“Shut up, Romeo.” I said and he rolled his eyes.

“No, we haven’t decided the name yet.” Shivaye answered.

“Make it faster, beta. We will be going to now. Take care of my grand child.” Dadi said and after bidding bye they all left leaving silence behind.

They were my family too. They always stood and supported me. They shared their happiness and tears with me. They loved me like I’m their own daughter.

“I wish they were here.” I mumbled gazing at the floor playing my baby’s tiny fingers.

“Your parents will be proud of you, Anika.” Shivaye said intertwining our hands together.

I missed them every day but he was always there to comfort me. My father was my best friend and everything. Sometimes it is hard to believe the people who was so close to me doesn’t exist in the world anymore.

“Thank you so much for being a part of my life, Shivaye.” I said and he kissed my cheeks softly. Everytime he does that my heart did a somersault, butterflies fluttering in my stomach and a shiver ran through my body in pleasure.

“Thanks to you too, wifey.” He said and I smiled.

“What are we going to name her?” I asked looking at our princess.

“Well, definitely not Shivika.” Shivaye scrunched his nose and I laughed pinching it.

“Seriously you thought that.” I asked not expecting it from him.

“Yeah I did, but it’s our couple name. It’s weird to name her that.” He said and I agreed with him.

If it was a boy I will consider Ansh but not Shivika. Just then she moved a little and frowned. She opened her little mouth but no sound came. After sometime a whining sound came and it was so soft that I couldn’t believe that she was crying.

“Is she crying or singing?” Shivaye asked confused his eyes darting from the baby girl to me.

“She is crying.” I whispered rocking her in my arms and soon she was in a deep slumber.

“That definitely was something.” Shivaye muttered and I laughed.

“My poor baby, if she cried like this then she won’t have any attention.” Shivaye said shaking his head and I hit his arm.

“She is a good girl who won’t cry. So she won’t trouble her mom.” I said kissing her cheeks and Shivaye chuckled.

“After all she is my daughter.” He said and I rolled my eyes.

“She is mine.” I said and glared at him.

“No, she is ours.” He said hugging us close and I want to freeze the moment.

“So, name?” I asked. We have gone through hundreds of name but it’s like when I saw her everything vanished.

“I have a name.” He said and I raised an eyebrow.

“It is Riya. It means stream, singer, river and to flow.” He said twitching his fingers.

“It sounds… perfect to me. My mind was stuck on it too.” I agreed and he lifted his eyes and offered a smile.

“But I thought to change something.” I said propping a pillow and sitting comfortably.

“What?”

“It would be R-h-e-a instead of Riya. A change and little unique.” I said and he nodded his head.

“Perfect.”

We both grinned and scooted closer to our princess. I whispered in her one year while Shivaye said it in the other.

“Rhea Bansal Singh Oberio.” He said and my eyes blurred with tears of happiness and he winked at me.

“So princess, are you ready to ride piggy back with your dad?”

“To play barbie dress up with your mom?”

“To eat ice creams at mid night with daddy.”

“To decorate cupcakes while dancing with spatula in hands with Mommy.”

“To go for long rides in sports car.”

“To watch Alice in wonderland with popcorns.”

“To built forts with pillows in living room.”

“And to listen your mom reading bedtime tales.”

There we went on and on. Smiling and laughing everytime when any one of us speak something. I looked at Rhea, she was sleeping peacefully. I laid her in the bed on the mattress carefully and in the left over I and Shivaye laid down wrapping our hands around the tiny body of our princess. We cuddled together and looked at our future with a bright smile.
