THE STORY OF US – Chapter 23 by Sana ||Midnight conversations are the best||

ANIKA’S POV

The house was illuminated and music was playing loudly. I was there in the centre of dance floor swaying my hips and dancing. It was packed with people and just then in a blink of eyes I saw a shadow passing away quickly. I tried to brush it off but again I saw it and realized it was a man. Leaving the party behind I followed where I saw but the centre hall and rooms were empty. My hands started sweating but I kept searching until I saw him standing there in the middle. It was my dad and I cried happy silent tears. Before I could reach to him he vanished and I shouted for him. I yelled and searched until with a thud the ground swallowed me. I called out someone to help me but it was all complete darkness and I felt a knife stab behind me.

“Dad…”

I screamed and sighed of relief when I realized it was a nightmare. I was badly sweating and I couldn’t breath. The surrounding felt so strange for me. I took the jug of water from bedside table and gulped it down in one go. After sometime I was finally able to regain my breath.

After dad died, it is regular for the nightmares to come. I would wake up from the room screaming and the next second Shivaye will be here assuring me that I’m safe. I missed the warmth of his body now.

Shivaye left in evening to Mumbai to attend an important meeting. He wanted to stay back but it was a huge deal that he couldn’t miss. It reminded me of that day when dad disappeared from here.

He was everything to me and a life without him was empty. It was a shocking that I couldn’t believe it and I couldn’t even cry. My body was too numb that I couldn’t move. I felt helpless and dead inside.

Shivaye stayed with us whole time and sometime Rudra and Om visited as well. I owe them something for all the comfort they have given to me and Sahil. The other broken person was Raj Uncle. He lost his best friend, his brother, his boss and everything. I have never seen that man cry before but on that day he sobbed like a little child in front of everyone.

Why did god need to take every single human being of my life? It was unfair and the world is cruel. It moves on even though thousands of people keeps crying on their knees begging to be stopped. It doesn’t wait for anyone and keeps moving on. It doesn’t care about anyone or anything and is selfish.

It’s been a month after dad passed away but the wound and the scenes are still fresh. Sahil started going to school from yesterday and I guess he is trying his level best to hold himself back from breaking down. Raj Uncle took some days off saying he needed to clear his mind but I will still the broken soul.

I took a deep breath and walked out of the room. I have never left this room after that day. I couldn’t and sometime Sahil used to sleep with me but after the nightmares started I adviced him to sleep in his own bedroom. Shivaye has always been here protecting me.

Suddenly there was thunderstorms. No they couldn’t be here at this moment when I am all alone. Something I am very afraid of and with a small sound it was able to shake me apart. I ran back and curled into my bed. Taking the pillow and covering myself from the lightening that is trying to enter through the closed window. I was sweating and shaking. My hands were trembling and another thud. I screamed and took my phone and dialled the first number.

“Hey Anika, is there anything wrong?” Shivaye’s concerned voice was heard from another side and it was enough to comfort me.

“I’m just…scared.” I admitted and I felt like a annoying fiance now. He was always with me leaving his business behind and today I can’t ask him here now.

“Don’t be scared, baby. I’m there with you always.” He promised and I nodded my head.

“I know.” I said when I realized he couldn’t see me.

It was raining now and the water droplets for some which was blessing and for others as a curse came down hitting in the window. I shivered when the cold hit me and my heart slowed down when the sound of thunder disappeared.

“Tell me a story, Shivaye.” I whined like a child. I need to get my mind off.

“Story? Seriously, Anika you know I suck at that department.” He said.

“Please?” I pleaded and he must be imagining my puppy face.

“Okay, only for you.” He said and that warmed my heart.

“Only for us.” I said and my lips broke into a wide smile. Suddenly I forgot about everything bad happening in my life and it was only me and Shivaye even though we couldn’t see each other.

“Okay…” He cleared his throat.

“Quick.” I said and lit the lamp.

“Once upon a time there was a princess. She was so beautiful and just like her, her heart was also beautiful. Everyone loved her for her kindness and her father, the king was also a good person. The princess had the magic to spread her light everywhere she go. She wanted to be intependent and even though her father was the king of the place she didn’t boast about it at all but instead kept it a secret so people won’t use her just because she was the princess. One day, she was travelling to the nearby country and she met the prince of another kingdom. He was cocky, arrogant and didn’t give a damn about anyone except himself and his family.” He took a deep breath and I smiled.

“They ended up in a heated conversation. They both disliked each other but the princess couldn’t keep her eyes off from the prince. Sure, he was so good looking.” I rolled my eyes. “So, the prince was boasting about how he was going to meet a king and thought that the princess was a maid but he was so wrong when he realized that it was indeed the king’s daughter. They hated each other at first but slowly like everyone say that it is a very thin line between love and hate. So they fell in love. They both weren’t perfect but together they are perfect. They will be always with each other supporting. They will protect each other from the evil and spread the light together. The prince really changed from the relationship and the credit was full for the princess. They had their ups and downs in life but together they survived and had their happily ever after.” He finished and my eyes blurred with tears.

This was so sweet of him. He told the fairytale of our love story. Indirectly he was promising that he will be around for me all the time.

“Thank you, I feel a lot better.” I said and I honestly did. “You are so cute and I never knew there was a sappy romantic in you.” I laughed.

“Don’t call me cute. I know that I’m handsome, good looking, charming and s*xy as well.” I can see him smirking.

“You are so cute, Shivaye.” I said and grinned.

“You are hurting my man pride, okay?” He said and I laughed.

“Do you know that our love story sounds so cliche, don’t you think? First, hating each other and in the end so in love.” I asked and I always doubted whether such stories existed but now I did.

“Yeah…” He admitted.

“So what else?” I asked and saw the turn clock 3. Oh my god, we were speaking for so long but yet I didn’t want to end it.

“Are you okay?” He finally asked with concern.

“I’m trying.” I said.

“I want to tell you something important.” He said and my heart did a flip. Is he going to break up with me for being like this.

“What is it?” I asked silently.

“You and Sahil are moving to Oberio Mansion tomorrow.”
