Soundous Moufakir criticizes Karanvir Bohra’s objectifying remark during awards ceremony; Karanvir replies, “Sorry but not sorry”

In a recent incident, Soundous Moufakir, a popular actress known for her appearances in shows like Khatron Ke Khiladi 13, Roadies, and her victory in Spiltsvilla X4, opened up about an uncomfortable experience at an awards ceremony. During the event, as she took the stage to receive an award, the host made a remark that raised eyebrows.

Addressing Soundous, the host turned to Karanvir Bohra and asked if she deserved another award for her eloquent Hindi speech. Karanvir’s response to the host’s question was, “You take this award.” Although it seemed like a light-hearted moment, the comment didn’t sit well with Soundous.

Taking to social media to share her thoughts on the incident, Soundous expressed her disappointment with the objectifying remark. She wrote, “Take this award home” says @karanvirbohra to the host, objectifying me. This is a common objectification faced by multiple women inside this industry and outside, all over the world. So let me just say this – I’m not an award, I’m not a trophy, I’m not SOMETHING you can just joke about taking home. The way men are always ready to demean a woman’s achievements and their proud moments by passing s*xist, misogynistic comments disgusts me, and I wonder when this will stop.”

Soundous also shared additional videos to shed light on the incident and emphasized that such comments were objectifying her as a woman. She expressed hope that others would speak out against such demeaning behavior if they encountered it.

In response to her accusations, Karanvir Bohra took to social media to clarify the situation. In a series of videos, Karanvir explained that the alleged remark was not directed at Soundous but was a sarcastic response to the host’s comment during an awards ceremony.

Addressing the incident, Karanvir stated, “Apparently this lady (Soundous Moufakir) made a statement about me after a week of me ‘making a remark on her’ as she thought. But I am really glad that this lady put up that video because if you see it, the host told her, ‘aapki hindi itni achhi hai, apko award milna chahiye, hai na Karan bhai?’ He addressed it to me. My answer was to him, ‘Tu ghar leja award.’ The idea was it was sarcasm that don’t flirt with her on stage. Then he said, ‘Arre main isko ghar le jau?’ So that was his comment. So if she felt bad, she should have felt bad about his statement. I never told her.”

Karanvir further expressed that if he indeed hurt anyone with his statements, he would genuinely apologize and take responsibility. However, in this case, he asserted that he did not say anything offensive to Soundous. He clarified that the host’s comment objectified her, and the misunderstanding arose from misattributing the remark to him.

Adding to his response, Karanvir remarked, “So you misunderstood that and yes, your Hindi is not that clear and you don’t understand it clearly, so you need to learn Hindi. So if you want to make it another post or story, please make it for the host. Thank you very much, may God bless you.”
