Sonu Nigam opens up on Indian Idol 12 makers taking undue advantage of Amit Kumar’s silence

Singer Sonu Nigam who is also a former Indian Idol judge has stood up to support Amit Kumar, for the controversy that took place after he gave a statement about not enjoying the show and that he was forced to appreciate the contestants by the maker, this obviously didn’t go down well with the makers. After Aditya Narayan’s sarcastic take on Amit Kumar’s statement, Sonu Nigam also jumped in to defend Amit Kumar.

Recently Sonu shared a video on his social media handle referring to the controversy. He says that it is going on for a while and he cannot take it anymore. While supporting Amit Kumar, Sonu said, “Woh bahot bade aadmi hain. Pehle baat toh woh Ustad Kishore Kumar ke bete hain. Phir he is a man who has seen the industry much more than us. Humse bahot zyada duniya dekh chuke hain woh. Industry mein kis kis ke saath kaam kar chuke hain aur kab se kaam kar rahe hain. Bahot seedhe aadmi hai, bahot shareef aadmi hai. Kuch bolte nahi hai. He has been quiet and maintained a dignified silence uska aap log undue advantage le rahe hain. (He is indeed a big name in the industry. He is the son of a great teacher, Kishore Kumar. He has also seen the world much more than us and has worked with the biggest banners in the industry. He is simple, innnocent, and doesn’t like to speak much. But you are taking undue advantage of his silence).”

Addressing the makers of Indian Idol and Aditya Narayan, he added, “You should end this controversy. Indian Idol makers are not at fault for asking someone to encourage the contestants and Amit Kumar is not wrong in saying that he praised the contestants. He did not say anything bad about the contestants. Both makers and Amit Kumar are not at fault. Those who are constantly giving weightage to the issue like Manoj Muntashir or Aditya (Narayan) are at fault….I don’t want anybody to say anything against Amit Ji. Humse bahot bade artist hain.”

Former Indian Idol judge Sonu Nigam has lent his support to Amit Kumar, who had appeared on the singing reality show some time back.
Amit’s statements about not enjoying the show and his comments on the singers and judges alike didn’t go down well with the makers. Some from the Indian Idol team gave statements in public against Amit Kumar and this has made Sonu Nigam jump in and defend Amit Kumar.
In his video message, Sonu shared that he has been following the controversy for quite some time but now he can’t bear it anymore. He declared at the outset that no one can become Kishore Kumar and not everyone can do justice to his songs.
Praising Amit Kumar, Sonu said, “Woh bahot bade aadmi hain. Pehle baat toh woh Ustad Kishore Kumar ke bete hain. Phir he is a man who has seen the industry much more than us. Humse bahot zyada duniya dekh chuke hain woh. Industry mein kis kis ke saath kaam kar chuke hain aur kab se kaam kar rahe hain. Bahot seedhe aadmi hai, bahot shareef aadmi hai. Kuch bolte nahi hai. He has been quiet and maintained a dignified silence uska aap log undue advantage le rahe hain. (He is quie a big man. He is the son of Ustad Kishore Kumar. He has seen the world much more than us. He has worked with the biggies in the industry. He is simple, innnocent, and doesn’t like to speak much. But his silence is being taken advantage of).”
Addressing the makers, he added, “You should end this controversy.

Sonu further added, “I request everyone to please, please leave Amit Kumar ji alone and Indian Idol is a great platform. I listen to what the kids are singing on the show and they are great. I request everyone to stay quiet.. Ek admi shant baitha hua hai, chup chaap baitha hua hai…kishore kumar ji ke bete hai woh.. do not take advantage of his dignified silence.”

Abhijeet Bhattacharya also commented on Sonu’s post and while supporting Amit Kumar said, “Well said Sonu…I’m coming for the 1st time on @indian.idol2021 this week…found super talented singers there, no idea what Amit ji commented, but let me reveal that I learned a lot watching his performances, he is one of the greatest showman.. love and respect for Amit Dada.”
