Shubhaavi Choksey who is known for her role in shows like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Teen Bahuraaniyan and Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki cannot compromise on one thing. Though the actress loves her work, she will not compromise on her Sunday off.
Shubhavi, who is currently seen in the show Bade Acche Lagte Hain 2, talked about it in a recent interview and shared, “When I had just started working, I would work on Sundays. But after I gave birth to my son Aarav and took a sabbatical, I was sure that once I resumed work, I would take a day off to spend time with my son and husband. It’s very important for me to spend time with my family and friends. So, I started doing this in 2012.”
When asked if she faces any resistance from makers, she replied, “Yes, of course. When I would tell people about wanting a Sunday off, they would tell me ‘Ma’am yeh to nahi ho sakta’. But I would insist and ask for it to be included in my contract. Initially, they hesitated, but later people understood my point and agreed to my demand. Many makers understand my point.”
However, the actress did lose out on a couple of projects. She revealed, “I lost out on two shows for asking for an off on Sundays. I understand their point, but I need it because I have a son to take care of and I want to spend time with him. So on Sundays, we go out for a movie or we do different outdoor activities together. I also spend time with my husband.”
Shubhaavi concluded by saying, “People should get their weekly offs. Ideally, everyone should get a sunday off.”
