The Episode starts with Sita speaking to Sumitra and Kaushalya about her forest stay. She comes to Ram and says I can understand your worries, you aren’t able to rest due to the tension, your tension isn’t bigger than my faith. They light the diyas in the room. Sita says there is always a hope, Ram Rajya is a big hope, one diya is enough to end darkness. Ram comes to the Sabha. Vastak is called there. He asks why am I called here. Ram says for justice. Vastak says I didn’t ask for justice, what crime did I do. Ram asks isn’t it a crime to abandon a wife. Vastak says its not a crime in my eyes, why is my personal matter brought to the darbar, isn’t there freedom given to people on your Rajya. Laxman gets angry. Ram says the lady has asked us for help and justice, it’s a duty of a king to do justice. Vastak says you don’t get partial that she is a woman. Laxman asks him to be silent. Vastak argues.
Ram asks why did you abandon your wife. Vastak says she didn’t come home all night, she was with the boatman, I doubt her purity. Ram says its just a blame. Vastak asks do they have any proof. Ram says you should trust your wife and this boatman, you know them since many years, did you see this man misbehaving with any woman, do you have any proof that makes you doubt. Vastak says she is accepting that she was with that boatman, what’s the proof that nothing happened between them, its not about me, I can trust my wife and friend. Ram asks then what’s the problem. Vastak asks what about the society, it will taunt me on my relation, it will insult my children, a man marries to stay happy, why to keep the marriage if there is no happiness, how can I live a stained life. Ram says you are having an illusion. Vastak asks why, ask the boatman, what would he think if I had stayed with his wife all night, would my wife believe me, ask the people if they will accept their wives in this situation, would the society not stain them.
Ram says love is the basis of faith, if love is true, then there shouldn’t be loss of faith. Vastak says sorry, society’s taunts attack joy first and then love, I m not any rich man that people stay quiet by fear, I m an ordinary washerman, maybe my wife is pure and I m wrong, but I…. Ram asks him to say. Vastak says I m not Maryada Purushottam Ram, I won’t accept a woman who has stayed with another man. Ram worries and leaves. Ram recalls everything and worries. Sita comes. He says people follow the king’s path, if you give proof again and again then every husband will expect the same from his wife, not everyone is pure like you, we won’t take any decision that presents a wrong example in front of the society. She asks what’s the solution. He says education, good behavior can make thoughts good, I don’t know how to stop the people’s questions. Sita says we don’t think about the thing we don’t see. Ram says you said right, there is one way now, sacrifice, we will leave the Rajya, then there won’t be any questions on us.
Sita says not us, just me, you can’t run away from these problems, you will leave me and all the problems will end. Ram says no, never.
