Despite this recent success, Shekhar Suman’s legacy on television cannot be overlooked. He gained immense popularity with Jaya Bachchan’s sitcom “Dekh Bhai Dekh” and became a household name with the late-night talk show “Movers N Shakers.”
Recently, in an interview with a media portal, Shekhar Suman hinted at the potential revival of “Movers N Shakers” and even suggested that “Dekh Bhai Dekh” might return as well.
Is “Movers N Shakers” Returning?
In a conversation with News18 Showsha, Shekhar Suman discussed his popular television projects. Regarding “Movers N Shakers,” he mentioned that there’s been significant pressure from fans to bring the show back. He frequently encounters people at the airport and other public places asking about its return.
Shekhar revealed that discussions have already begun, and “Movers N Shakers” is slated to premiere on an OTT platform. He mentioned that advanced talks are underway, and the team is working on bringing the show back in a big way to honor its legacy. “I’ve to put the team together and get all the great writers. It will be very exciting,” he added.
During the interview, Shekhar also reflected on the changing times when television took a back seat, and OTT platforms had not yet embraced non-fiction content. Commenting on the 2012 revival season of “Movers N Shakers,” he said, “I felt like television wasn’t the right place for Movers And Shakers to be back as no one was watching it, and it receded into the background. I just waited for the opportune moment. I think now is the time to bring it back.”
Teasing the Return of “Dekh Bhai Dekh”
In addition to “Movers N Shakers,” Shekhar Suman discussed reviving his other iconic show, “Dekh Bhai Dekh.” He shared that both shows are in the early stages of development. “It’s too early to talk about them because they’re both at a nascent stage. But it will and should happen,” the actor added.
For those unfamiliar, “Dekh Bhai Dekh” first aired in 1993, while “Movers N Shakers” started in 1997 and ran until 2001, featuring Shekhar Suman interviewing numerous celebrities.
