Shailesh Lodha emerges victorious in Legal Battle against Taarak Mehta’s Producer, Asit Modi
In a landmark victory, Shailesh Lodha, renowned for his portrayal of Taarak Mehta in the popular TV show “Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah” (TMKOC), has triumphed in the lawsuit he filed against the show’s producer, Asit Modi, over unpaid dues. The verdict, disclosed in May this year, reveals that Asit Modi has agreed to pay a substantial sum of ₹1,05,84,000/- to Shailesh through a demand draft as part of the settlement terms.
Shailesh Lodha’s departure from TMKOC in April 2022 led him to approach the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) to seek the clearance of his outstanding dues accumulated over the course of a year. The matter was handled virtually under section 9 of the insolvency and bankruptcy code, ultimately reaching a resolution based on mutual consent between the involved parties.
In an interview, Shailesh expressed his satisfaction with the verdict and conveyed his gratitude towards the NCLT. He stated, “This fight was never about the money. It was about seeking justice and self-respect. I feel like I have won a battle, and I’m happy that the truth has prevailed.”
While Shailesh remained discreet about the exact reasons behind his departure, he hinted at encountering challenging circumstances during his exit. He revealed that he was asked to sign certain documents with restrictive clauses, including a media silence clause. However, Shailesh stood firm and refused to succumb to any form of pressure. He firmly believed that there was no reason for him to sign such papers to obtain the money he rightfully deserved.
Remarkably, Shailesh’s fight for justice seems to have had a ripple effect, benefiting another actor associated with the show. Without disclosing the actor’s name, Shailesh shared that this individual had remained unpaid for over three years. However, after the lawsuit was filed, the production house promptly settled the actor’s dues. Grateful for the impact of his actions, Shailesh received a heartfelt thank-you from his fellow actor.
Despite attempts to contact Asit Modi for his perspective, there was no response from him at the time of press.
