SHADOW IS YOUR GIFT – CHAPTER 1 – STARTING POINT

“I think we have to leave this house” said Andrew , while having breakfast early in the morning. Frank looked surprised.

“Are we leaving because of that note?” He asked.

“Not really. But we have to do it. Because we don’t have the house papers with us anymore!” Andrew explained.

“What? How could that be?” It was Frank’s mom, Linda.

“Actually honey, I thought they were with Dad but now I don’t think they are with him. I asked from lawyer and he didn’t have a good answer for it.”

“Then we have been living in this house just even without a single right?” Frank remarked.

“That’s such a bad idea son. It’s not so. Your grandfather did have them but now we don’t have them. That’s all. I’ve found a good home near your college. We will shift there” , replied Andrew.

“When?” Frank asked.

“After couple of days” he replied and left after washing his plate. Now Frank and his mom was only there in the dinning room.

Frank now saw how the sun rays got in to the house slowly. The window was a little open by his mom. He was sitting facing to the opposite direction of the window so the sun rays directly covered his back.

He saw how slowly the sun rays made his shadow, first his body then neck and head. The shadow was now on the table. Frank was glaring at his own shadow.

“It’s not much clear!” Frank suddenly noticed. The shadow started moving towards the door. Frank was surprised of what’s happening. He didn’t utter a word . Slowly the shadow moved to the door bell and the door opened!!

“Dad!!”

It was Frank’s dad. “Oh Frank I forgot to pick my lunch box. So came back.” He came in grabbed the lunch box and left.

Frank tried to spot the shadow. “Where did it go?” Now he was getting late for college so his mom interfered and said, “go to college Frank. Hurry!”

Frank dropped the idea of finding the shadow. He left to college quickly.

After college..

Frank was walking towards his home. He normally sees his mom working in the kitchen from the front window at this time. So does today.

As he approached the house he could see his shadow on the door . He stopped for a while. Is this the same shadow?

“No no it can’t be” he muttered and opened the door to go in. But the door didn’t open. Seems like it was locked.

“Mommm open the doorrrr I’m home!” He shouted loudly. Suddenly the door opened. “Mom” Frank said .

But there wasn’t his mom. The door had opened by itself. ” Oh what’s this ..” Frank thought. Then his mom came there and tells, ” Why did you shout ? Can’t you open it by yourself? ”

“Yes yes I can. ”

“Then why shouting?”

“Nothing mom” Frank went straight inside his room.

“This is too much. I’ll find this by myself” he thought.

After having meals he went to his late Grandfather’s room. It was locked. Frank had to find the key somehow.

“Who uses keys to open a room nowadays?” He thought and opened the door with a hair clip of his mom. Frank felt a innocent happiness in having such a kind mom. She’s helpful in many ways. Frank thought and smiled.

Now he looked inside the room. Everything was as it was before. Nothing was changed.Frank was standing infront of the  threshold  “From where will I start?” He thought…..
