My fingers itched my skin as I recalled that night Fateh and I spent together. A night filled with lies and deceit. A night where he used me for his needs. A night that I could never forget even if I wanted to. I scratched my arms, the arms he had caressed so lovingly, trying to rid myself of his touch. It was only when it started to burn did I stop my antics.

I slumped onto the floor, my hands gripped my salary as I wept, tears flowed down my heels with no intent to stop.

“Tejo bhab-” Mahi’s footsteps.stopped as she reached my door, shocked at the sight infront of her. “Bhabhi!”

I looked up at her, eyes rimmed with tears as she rushed over to me, wrapping her arms around me.

“Bhabhi what happened? Should I call Fateh Veer?”

I shook my head, crying onto her chest as she held me. Her fingers combed through my hair, comforting me as she let me cry. We sat there like that without either of us saying a word.

“Bhabhi?” Mahi asked, “Are you okay?”

I wiped my tears and smiled at her, “Sorry, I just.. I don’t know why I felt like crying.”

She smiled, “It’s fine Bhabhi, you can cry to me whenever you like.”

I looked at the clock on the wall, rushing to get up, “I’m late, I need to go teach the girls.”

“What. No. Fateh Veer said you should rest and not work.”

“Where is Fateh?” I asked her, already knowing the answer.

“He went to the academy, he had some important work.”

I nodded, hiding a scoff. Important work. More like cheating on his wife with her own sister.
