Shadain Ki Lafandar : A FaTejo FanFic (Episode 1)

Set after Tomorrow’s episode where Fateh takes Jasmine to prove their love and Tejo sees them leave…

“Tejo Ji.” Amrik called out, his head peering from his cars window, “Let’s go.”

I frowned, unsure of why he was twlling me to go with him. My eyes remained on the gate that Fateh and Jasmine had left from. Where did they go? What did Jasmine need to tell me?

“Tejo ji come on. Fateh Veer is leaving.” He said, opening the passenger door as I slipped into the car. “Do you know where they went?”

I shook my head. “No. Amrik, why are we following them?”

“I should’ve said something earlier but I thought I might be wrong because Jasmine-” His eyes widened as he shook his head, chuckling humourlessly he whispered, “Jasmine, of course.”

“Amrik I don’t understand.” I said, as he turned left and I noticed the sign board that said we were out of our village. “And what are we doing outside our town?”

His eyes remained forward and I looked at what he was looking at. Fateh’s car was parked under a large tree but there was no one inside.

I looked around trying to spot Fateh or Jasmine but there was no ine here. Where could they have gone? There was nothing here but open space and rocky edges.

“Amrik?”

“Tejo ji stay in here.” He said, opening his door and walking towards his brother’s car.

“Amrik…” I whispered before leaving the car as well but something stopped me from following him.

My eyes moved towards the other side of the huge land and a feeling stirred inside me. My chest tightened as I walked towards the edge, somehow I felt it before I saw it.

As I neared the edge, a faint buzzing filled my eaes and slowly it turned into voices. The voices of my husband and sister. From where I stood, they were clearly visible though they were unable to see me

“You want to die right? You can give your life for me? Then die. Jump right now.”

What was I hearing?  Fateh was telling my sister to sacrifice her life for him. Anger filled me and I opened my mouth ready to speak but what Jassu said next shocked me to the core.

“Die for you? Fateh, I can do anything for you. I broke my engagement for you. I cut my finger for you. I ruined Gippy’s character for you. I lie to Tejo everyday for you but if you still want me to prove my love by doing this then so be it. Fateh Singh Virk. I love you.”

I froze.

All movement had been knocked out of me. I prayed that what I had heard was not true and my mind was playing games with me but when I saw Jasmine turn her back to the edge a smile on her face I realised that she was teling the truth. She did all of thise things in Fateh’s love and now she was going to die for him.

“Jas-”

“Jassu nahi.” Fateh’a voice yelled out as he pulled her into his embrace. “Don’t even think about doing anything stupid. I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said anything. I’m so sorry.”

Her arms wrapped around his as they both wept.

“Kyu? Why can’t we be together happily?” Jasmine asked him.

Fateh pulled away from the hug and wiped her tears. I looked away, feeling as though I was invading their personal space even though I was his wife.

“I’m sorry Jassu.” He whispered, “But Tejo is my wife. I married her, she is my responsibility and my best friend. I can’t cheat her.”

“Tejo. Tejo. Tejo. Jab dekho sirf Tejo.” Jasmine’s hands flew around, “Fateh you love me then why do you always bring up Tejo.”

“Tejo wife hai meri. She is my present and my future.” He said, his words sounded rehearsed as though he had practised them before saying them to her. “Jasmine, what we had was beautiful but it’s in the past. Shayad yeh hi better hai.”

“I wish Tejo meri behen nahi hoti. I wish that Tejo was never in our lives then maybe we would be happy together. I wish Tejo di-”

“Jasmine!” Fateh shouted at her, grabbing ahold of her wrist but she ignored him.

“I wish she…” Her words broke off as she cried.

Fateh looked at her, his eyes showing the pain he was in at her state. He moved his hands towards her slowly hugging her as she cried into his chest. Mumbling an apology he caressed her head.

My pulse hammered inside my chest as I watched the scene play out infront of me. My own sister and husband. The two people who I loved unconditionally.

No.

No.

This wasn’t real.

It couldn’t be.

Fateh told me he loved me.

He…we…that night.

No.

No.

I needed to get away, my legs moved until they gave out completely making me kneel down onto the ground.
