Savant Singh Premi on up on why he quit the television industry

Savant Singh Premi, who is known for his performance in shows like Jamai Raja and Haasil, quit TV in 2018. During an interview with BT the actor revealed why he quit television.

He said, “With time, I felt saturated and waited for something different to come my way and that prompted me to step out of my comfort zone. That’s how I got into films and did Velle and Jug Jugg Jeeyo. Today, I aspire to work with good directors and take up characters that satisfy me as an artist.”

Talking about the struggles he has to face to get where he is, the actor shared, “After pursuing theatre in Delhi, I felt I was prepared to test waters in Mumbai but I had entered an industry, which is known for cut-throat competition. There were 100 people queued up for one audition. However, the struggle never distracted me from my aim. I would often be told that my looks didn’t resonate with the image of a hero. But I didn’t stop believing in myself. I had full faith in myself.”

He added, “It’s not easy to survive when you are waiting to get a break and it is emotionally draining. My family supported me as much as they could but we had our own limitations. My family moved to Mumbai to save rent in another city and help me pursue my dreams. They know I will make a mark one day and things will only get better from there,” he concluded.
