Yesterday, Indian wrestler Sangram Singh and INdian Telly actress Payal Rohatgi announced that they will be getting married in July. Keeping his promise, Sangram made the announcement. The couple released a quirky ‘save the date’ announcement last night (May 19) on their social media account confirming their marriage in July. In an interview with with Sangram Singh, many deets about their wedding were revealed.
“We haven’t finalized the date for the wedding. We want a date close to my birthday. We are still in the process of locking a date; it can be July 22, 27. My sister is looking after it and she will update us soon. We are planning to get married in either Gujarat, Haryana or Rajasthan. I want to tie the knot in a very simple way with just our family around. I want to get married in a very simple way either Arya Samaj or in a temple,” he said, in an interview with BT.
Sangram is all praise for his lady love and said, “Payal is a very honest and a pure soul, she has never pushed me to get married. She always told me that whenever you are ready for marriage and feel this is the right time, we will do it. We tried to get married in the past but due to some unforeseen circumstances, we couldn’t get married. Now, I felt it is the right time and what better timing to do it then around my birthday. Getting married is just a formality for us, it is like giving a name to our relationship, in our society it becomes important for a girl especially for her respect.”
He also shared the excitement of both the families, “Both the families are very happy because they have been waiting for us to get married. They have grown old, both Payal and my parents, so they are very happy with the news. Payal and I’ve been together for 12 years and everything has been going smoothly between us, so it is the best time to get married. I wanted to keep my promise which I made in the Lock Upp house. Honestly, I don’t think I can get a better life partner than Payal Rohatgi. Mujhe itna Accha nahi mil sakta koi… Payal and I are quite similar in many ways. We both lead an ethical life.”
Sangram shared that he wants to keep his marriage functions a low key affair, “There are many designer friends who want to design for us for our wedding but Payal and I both want a simple wedding. My wish is to get married and then feed underprivileged kids and a lot of animals. They are pure souls and they will bless us with their heart. Their blessings will be unmatchable. But Payal and I are still discussing things and if she feels tomorrow that she wants a lavish affair we will go for it. Payal’s father is unwell so she wanted the wedding to happen in Gujarat so let’s see,” he said.
The former Bigg Boss contestant credited good friend Karanvir Bohra for the quirky pre-wedding and save the date pictures, “We didn’t want to do the regular stuff by wearing designer gowns and suits and holding flowers. We wanted to show our individual personalities in the pre-wedding shoot, so we decided to add the wrestling ring. Payal and I are both very strong and we wanted to show that. I would like to give credit to Karanvir Bohra also for the poster. The reason being during our recent meeting he had jokingly said that our Pre-wedding shoot should happen inside a boxing or wrestling ring. I immediately liked the idea and said ‘arre Waah’. He mentioned that Payal is like a Sherni and you are a Sher so it would be a perfect thing to do. We met Teejay and Karanvir for dinner recently,” Sangram revealed.
