It’s a fresh bright morning in santorini .

Twinkle is an iyer, and being a tamilian , she desires to have tamil wedding ceremony, while Kunj who grew up in a Rajput family, prefers a rajput wedding .

However , 2 days back ,Dadi had made an important announcement .

Dadi – I respect Mr.iyer ,that you want a tamil ceremony for your daughter. We shall have a kalyanam ceremony in the morning . done.

Ashish – this means the rajput baraat will take place in the evening ?

Dadi – no..there will be no rajput wedding.

Anahita –but why Mom ?

Ashish raises an eyebrow..

Dadi – because Kunj is ..punjabi….

Suhana – what ? but maa ji, you had said you didn’t know from where kunj belonged.

Dadi – I know from where Kunj belongs . only you all don’t need to know. That’s what I had said .

Dadi walked away. She opened her gallery and saw a photo. Dadi choked her tears. Akshara’s photo is shown .

The rituals begin.

@Twinkle’s suite

Twinkle is shown fiddling with her ring. She is shown disturbed with various thoughts. Why is kunj marrying her ? he loves her sister doesn’t he ? he was the one who rejected her ..he was the one who gave her the idea of a contract marriage . now why was he suddenly so interested . Twinkle couldn’t concentrate . and even though till now she was unsure of the wedding herself., she found herself getting ready .

Ragini had pins her lips, a comb in one hnd , mogra on the other, and struggled keeping her balance In a 9 yard saree with her baby dancing inside her womb.

Ragini – god these tamilians. I swear I had always  hated the tamil clients at my parlor. 9 yard saree kaun pehenta hai yaar ? I can barely handle 6 yards. Our lehengas are so much easier.

Ragini fumed.

Meanwhile , swara tried to pin her saree perfectly around twinkle’s slim body which curved at the right places .

Swara – but this is fun naa..i am tired of the same rajput rituals. This is good for a change .

Twinkle snapped out of her thoughts when swaragini screamed in unison.

Swara – ayyo murugan…I mean hey bhagwan ! god..god god god..you are looking so beautiful Twinkieeee !!

She twirled her around…

Ragini – really..look at you.. gorgeous. If my brides would look this beautiful, I wont really mind wrapping 9 yards for them..totally worth it.

Swara – kunj will faint on seeing you !

Ragini – oh yes !

Twinkle glanced at herself in the mirror, in those 9 yards of perfection, she wa a delight to watch. Being a bride wasn’t that bad at all ….?  She blushed . but she shooed her thoughts away when she found herself blushing thinking what kunj’s reaction would really be. She couldn’t fantasize . her sister was dead.  And he was getting married to her. But he couldn’t be her hubby. He was still her jiju, and she couldn’t fantasize about him. Period !

Shivaay – so…as far as I have read…In this ritual, the groom pretends that he does not want to marry, and is going away a holy pilgrimage to Kashi. He is given a walking stick and a few bare essentials like an unbrella, slippers etc. for his journey. At this time, the bride’s father stops him and tries to persuade him towards married life, and offers to have his daughter married to him. The groom then agrees and is taken to the mandap.

Kunj rolls his eyes – what the f**k ! if we have come this far in Greece to get married then how can I say I don’t want to marry ?

Sanskar – exactly..itne mushkil se toh shaadi ho rahi hai bhaiya ho jane do na ..

Laksh – wow…tamil rituals . and the best part is u get to flash your abs and woo Twinkle .

Kunj – no

Kunj- I will be shirtless throughout the wedding ?? what the ….

Sanskar laughs – yeh jo hamari biwiyaan kehti hai ki shukr karo unse shadi karne ko mila hai…ab samajh aa raha hai kyun kehti hai !

Ranveer laughs – coz they are not tamil

Laksh – lol ..Kunj..imagine what your kids would be named..ram Chandra devam venkantam rudra prakasham iyer !

Kunj throws a pillow at him – bhai please, you yourself wore a manish malhotra. Don’t make fun of me .

Shivaay – areh guys calm down. And kunj , being shirtless is only a virtue .

He wraps his arm aorunf Kunj’s shoulder .

Kunj  innocently – really ??? and how ??

Shivaay – raat ko waise hi shirt utaarne me 2 min waste honge toh isse accha abhi se….

All broke into laughter . Kunj faked crying .

Kunj is shown in a   Veshti and Angavastram  made of silk. He is shown in a special headwear known as Thalaip on his head. A long gold chain hung on his neck. Kunj, all shirtless , glimmering in his tanned abs looked no less than Adonis himself .

He is shown outside the venue, with an umbrella and a basket, walking away to the opposite direction.

Kunj – kaha phas gaya ? what if iyer uncle doesn’t stop me ? what if no one stops me ? what if …what if the wedding doesnt happen. God. This twinkle had to turn out south Indian. Wah ji wah. God knows how tamils get married. I should have called Subbramaniam and ….

He then spotted Mr.iyer coming towards him.

Kunj sighed dramatically.

Mr.iyer – MaruMagan !

Kunj – ji nahi. Kunj . Kunj Desai.

Mr.iyer – oho kanna. That’s what im saying. Marumagan means son in law .

Kunj – oh..sorry uncle.

Mr.iyer – I am your appa from now.

Kunj nodded embarrassed – ji..appa…

Mr.iyer – so..kanna where are you heading ??!!

Kunj  clears his throat – kashi..kashi yatra …I am going for a pilgrimage. From now, I shall engage my entire life into worshipping god, out of this..worldly mess….

Mr.iyer – you don’t want to get married ?

Kunj –  yes I do…no…I mean I don’t….

Mr.iyer chuckles –  son… the true path to God, salvation and Moksha, the right path is by taking up the second stage of life – the Grishtha Ashram..i offer you a deal of to marry my daughter who’d make an excellent match for you. my daughter would be your  soul mate and partner for all of your Vedic rituals and would bring you the spiritual enlightenment.

Kunj smiles – dekhiye..i know im supposed to show attidue and all , but appa, this makes no sense to me..im dying to marry your daughter. Can we just go and start the kalyanam ?

Kunj says in one breath. Mr.iyer laughs and nods.

Pandit ji – As a part of this ritual, the bride’s mother washes groom’s feet with water, chandan and kumkum. After which the bride is called into the mandap.

Gopi – but pandit ji. Bride’s mother is no longer alive ….

Dadi nods.

Loveleen – no issues. Im her chitti (maasi) na..i can do it.

Anahita stuns- now multimillionaire loveleen ahuja shall wash a care taker’s feet wow.

Suhana – shush bhabhi . maa ji will over hear you.

Kunj – maasi please. No need. Im not used to all this…

Shivaay mocks – wah bhai..this is nice. You tamil grooms get all the respect . and us, our mother in laws scold us and pull our noses .

Loveleen smiles and goes forward to wash kunjs feet . dadi smiles.

Dadi in her mind – “are you happy now…see your son . he is getting married . you don’t hate me anymore.  do you?”

Mr.iyer – maalai matral is the garland exchange ceremony. It announces the union of the 2 souls.

Dadi – please bring the bride .

twinkle looked like a symbol of beauty and elegance. Draped in beautiful and traditional 9 yard Kajeevaram Silk saree paired with gorgeous-looking jewelry, The saree was worn in the traditional Madisar style. She wore her hair in an elaborate plait and bun combination around which flowers are draped in white and other colors. She wore special gold and precious stone set jewelry known as Jadainagam in the shape of a cobra over her plaits, which is believed to be symbolic of the bride’s fertility. On her hair, along with the traditional tamilmangtika made of gold, stones and pearls,she wore number of necklaces in multiple layers around her neck, gold bangles, and diamond nosepins.

Twinkle walked down the aisle, holding her father’s arm slowly. As kunj looked at her , he couldn’t look away. Suddenly, te decision to marry in tamil brahmin style didn’t make him regret anymore. It was all now all worth it . infact , he couldn’t have made a better decision . kunj smiled and counted each second as she walked towards him to finally enter in his life after so many turmoils.
