Rutuja Sawant on entering  Choti Sarrdaarni as the new Devika

After considering Farah Khan and Nidhi Bhavsar for the role of Devika, the makers of the popular show Choti Sarrdaarni have now locked in Rutuja Sawant to essay the role. Rutuja who was last seen in Mehndi Hai Rachne Waali, will now be seen as Devika on the show. The actress will be paired with Param Gill who is essayed by Vineet Raina.

In a recent interview, Rutuja talked about it and shared, “This is a big project for me and I am sure that things will turn in my favor from here. Two girls were cast for the character of Devika before me and finally, I have been brought on board. There is added responsibility and pressure on me to perform to the best of my ability. I have to prove to them that I am a perfect choice and not let them down.”

She adds, “I had planned to work at an MNC. However, a casting director from the South saw my pictures on Instagram and approached me for a film. At first, I first thought it was a scam. However, it turned out to be a genuine casting call and I left for Hyderabad for the project. While shooting, I realized that I can give acting a serious try. In real life, I am not very expressive but I happen to shed my inhibitions in front of the camera. I shot for two Telugu films, but their release has been postponed because of the pandemic. Since then, I have been striving to make a mark as an actor. Finding work in this industry is very difficult because there are thousands of talented actors vying for good projects and you have to shine among them.”

When asked about her parent’s reaction to her choosing acting as a profession. She says, “They were worried about how I would manage in this industry but they are fine now. They still worry about my safety. Whenever I am at the shoot, my mother checks on me whether I am doing fine. They want to ensure that I don’t feel bogged down and not get into the wrong company. They are very supportive of what I am doing.”
