Rohan Gandotra opens up on loosing projects for not having enough followers on social media; says, it’s very discouraging

During this ongoing pandemic, social media has emerged to be the handiest tool for people especially the actors to stay relevant and keep their fans engaged with updates from their life. However, there is also a downside of this as nowadays an actor’s popularity is gauged only by the number of followers they have on their social media handle. TV actor Rohan Gandotra talks about it in an interview with BT and says, “In the past, I have lost a few projects because I didn’t have enough followers on social media and it’s very disheartening and discouraging. This has been happening in the industry even with experienced artists.”

He further adds, “I’m not very active on social media and have always believed that an actor’s talent must define him and not by the number of followers on his/her social media handles. Now, I have started pushing myself to be active on social media. Initially, rejections on this basis would disappoint me but now rather than fighting it, I’m trying to adapt with these new norms.”

Rohan has been a part of shows like Qubool Hai, Naagin 2, and Dil Se Dil Tak. He was last seen in Silsila Badalte Rishton Ka in 2019 post which the actor was only seen in a web series on an OTT platform. Talking about his return on the silver screen he said, “After my last show ended in 2019, I wasn’t getting any interesting TV offers but towards the end of the year I took up an OTT project. However, after the first unlock phase last year, I did get a show but I was scared of working in the new environment and thought of waiting for something. Now I have mentally prepared to get back to a daily show.”
