RIANSH: Lost Time – 2.1 of 4

Hi y’all! After I began writing this story further, I realized in order to cover everything in detail, each of the 4 parts might turn out to be very long. So instead, I figured I’ll break the parts further into 2/3 parts and make it more readable. Anyhow, here are the responses from the previous episode:

LOST TIME – PART 2.1

Riddhima rested against the pillows and looked at Vansh as he blew air into the soup. In the past few days, ever since she’d returned home, Vansh had tried being around her as much as possible. She knew, it was difficult for him. After all, he had all the work in the hospital too and his schedule had seemed to pick-up pace all of a sudden.

Riddhima: Not a busy day today?

Vansh (feeding her): Not really. I’ve called Dr. Mehra home since I’d a meeting scheduled with him, but besides that I don’t think I have anything important for the day.

Riddhima: You do know I can take care of myself, na? You needn’t worry so much about me. Please go to the hospital.

Vansh: You know I don’t trust you with that. (looking at her) You’re such an opportunist that as soon as I’m out of the room, you’ll find out ways to roam around the house.

Riddhima: Did you just call me an opportunist?

Vansh: I did. Now, finish off this soup. I’m tired of feeding you, Take!

Riddhima pushed her hands inside the comforter and laced them together, before shrugging at Vansh and smiling geekily.

Riddhima: Then let it be. I don’t want the soup anymore.

Vansh shook his head and continued feeding her, an expression of surrender engulfing his features.

Vansh: Tumhare iss zidd ki wajah jaan sakta hoon main? (Can I know the reason behind your stubbornness?)

Riddhima: Nahi. (No.) Vaise Vansh, I needed to tell you something. (holding his hand) I know the last few days haven’t been the best for our family, but our family really needs to forget that, and I think it’s about time that we tell them that I am…

Vansh quickly fed her another spoonful of soup and stiffened at the words, pressing his lips into a thin, straight line. He knew, this topic would be broached upon very soon, but he hadn’t prepared himself for the confrontation yet. After all, the confrontation wasn’t going to be easy. It was going to be painful, hurting, tragic and so much more, that he couldn’t even bring himself to think about it.

Riddhima (laughing softly): Arey, let me finish off what I was saying. So, what I was saying is…

Vansh: I think, you should take some rest now. I’ll leave you alone for a while, call me if you need anything.

As he stood up from the stool, Riddhima wrapped her fingers around his wrist and he turned around to look at her.

Riddhima: Everything is okay na, Vansh? Are you keeping something from me?

Vansh (shaking his head): Why do you ask?

Riddhima: No, it’s just…

Riddhima paused mid-way as they heard the commotion downstairs and the two of them looked at each other, quizzically. As a few seconds whirled by, both of them hurried down the stairs worriedly to check what the commotion was about.

Ishani: Why haven’t you informed the police yet? You know where Kabir is, then what are you waiting for?

Angre: I’ve to talk to Boss before that. This isn’t my decision to…

Vansh (while descending down the stairs): Get him arrested, Angre. He shouldn’t have tried to harm my family and my wife. No one dares attack my family.

Angre: Boss, but he’s a police inspector. It wouldn’t be so easy to get him arrested.

Anupriya (from behind, faking concern): Exactly that’s what’s worrying me, Vansh. We can’t get him arrested and he can try harming our family again.

“Really, Mrs. Raisinghania? Oh, sorry! AKA, Kabir’s mom?”

All of them turned around as Sia walked into the living room, her voice echoing in the space. As she stood in front of her stepmother, everyone looked at her in shock while Anupriya stared at her, dreading in fear.

Anupriya (thinking): Sia was the only one who knew the entire truth. But I’d made sure she wouldn’t tell it to anyone. But now… How the h’ck did she come out of coma?

Dadi: Sia, you…

Sia: Dadi, I’ll tell you about that later. But for now, we need to deal with Kabir and his beloved mother – Mrs. Anupriya Raisinghania.

Vansh: Sia, what’re you saying? Why are you calling Mom as Kabir’s mother?

Sia: Because that is the truth, Bhai. She’s the one who’s behind all this that has happened to our family in the past few days. (wiping her tears) No! Actually, since the past few years. She was the one who murdered our mother.

Sia narrates the sequence of events about how she’d overheard Anupriya’s call with Kabir and then how, despite her will to share everything with Vansh, she hadn’t been able to because Anupriya had tried murdering her. She finishes off saying that she was forced to enact being in the state of coma, so she could help Vansh foil the plan of the mother-son duo.

When Vansh turned around toward Anupriya to say something, he saw Dadi taking furious steps toward her and in the spur of the moment, she raised her hand and slapped her.

Dadi: You! We trusted you. I trusted you with my kids and my family and you’ve been deceiving us for all these years? How dare you attack my children and try harming them? I wouldn’t leave you. God wouldn’t leave you for what you’ve done to us.

Anupriya (smirking): Oh please, Mummy ji! If your God really could do something, he would’ve saved you all long ago, but see – All these years, I’ve successfully planned and plotted against you all, without any of you knowing anything. Today, it is only because of this girl that my plan has been spoilt. I wouldn’t leave her.

She tries stepping forward and attacking Sia, and Vansh in reflex stands before her. However, Dadi pulls Anupriya back and slaps her again.

Dadi: Don’t you dare! If you try harming my children again, I wouldn’t spare you.

Moments later, when the Police arrives, they handcuff Anupriya and drag her away, ignoring her protests and screams. Sia hands-over all the proofs to them, while Angre walks out with them, telling the Police about Kabir’s whereabouts.

Inside the mansion, the three siblings hug each other and Riddhima, Dadi and Chanchal look at them in awe.

Aryan: Can I get some screen-space too? Like, I was helping Bhai throughout.

Vansh (smiling and forwarding his arm): Come on!

The four shared a group hug, enjoying the tranquility and peace they’d gained in their lives now. When Ishani looked at Riddhima staring at them, she walked toward her and held her hands between hers.

Ishani: I’m sorry, Riddhima. I’ve always misbehaved with you thinking you were here to harm Bhai. But that day… (holding back her tears) Thank you for saving Bhai!

Riddhima: Arey, why are you apologizing again? I told you that day na, that misunderstandings happen! All’s good between us now.

Ishani smiled and gently pressed onto Riddhima’s hands. Riddhima looked down at their laced palms, before looking up and smiling at her in assurance.

“Excuse me, Sir!”

The entire family turned toward the door and looked at the visitor, but Vansh stiffened as his gaze fell across the door.

He’d completely forgotten his meeting with Dr. Mehra.
