BECOMING MRS. RAISINGHANIA – EPISODE 6: MAHABALESHWAR

A FEW DAYS LATER,

The rays of the morning sun had just begun filtering through the mist and fog of the December month and the cold weather had begun enveloping the climate of Mahabaleshwar. As the temperature continued to drop for the third day in a row, Vansh tightened the jacket around himself and walked out of the mansion.

He didn’t want to, initially, because his room felt cosy with the warmth of the fireplace, but every December he came here, he ensured he trekked and walked around the district, just to see how things had evolved in the span of a year. There were subtle changes, but they weren’t invisible and despite its development, he wished this place would’ve continued to remain as unknown as it’d, when his grandfather had discovered this place.

He hadn’t seen his grandfather for too long, but he’d heard from his Dadi about how wonderful of a man he was. This was where the two of them had met and fallen in love, after his grandfather had hosted a ‘swayamvar’ for a prank with his friends. It was funny because despite how stupidly it’d begun, their family was still continuing to host it. However, it had now turned into an annual family and friends’ reunion.

Although, he believed in miracles and he believed in love. If a miracle was to happen, and if he was bound to fall in love, he would. Of course, the place didn’t matter. The person did.

As he continued trekking, he saw a silhouette through the morning mist and a wave of shock repulsed within him. In all these years he’d been around the city early in the morning, he’d never seen anyone around. H’ll, people didn’t even bother getting out from the comfort of the mansion and with a surge of curiosity, he ran up the hill to catch-up with the other person.

Vansh: Hello!

She turned around and looked at him, as his greeting echoed in the surrounding. He saw several emotions surpass on her face and he was sure, she could say the same too. Out of all the people, he definitely hadn’t expected Ms. Goenka to be trekking early in the morning.

Riddhima: What’re you doing here?

Vansh: I could ask you the same.

Riddhima (puffing): I asked you first!

Vansh laughed at her childishness and grounded his trekking pole into the ground to seek support. Despite what lay under the surface, being around Riddhima had always seemed fun to him. Especially because, how easily he could irritate her.

Vansh: Don’t you think it’d be a little weird if you’d gotten an invitation from us, but we hadn’t been here?

Riddhima: Your sense of humour is so tragic, Mr. Raisinghania.

She turned around and began walking away, intending to finish her activity of trekking before her mother and sister woke up. Perhaps, they wouldn’t wake up too early. After all, they’d reached here only a few hours ago – during dawn – and the two of them had immediately retired to their beds, but she’d wished to go around the place while they were here.

Vansh: So is yours, Ms. Goenka!

Riddhima: That is why I never try being sarcastic.

Vansh sped up, trying to match his speed with hers and smiled at how she always had her arguments ready. No one had ever argued and bickered with him as much as she had, and he really loved the confidence she held. True, he wanted to break her and sounded like an absolute hypocrite, but it was just one of her traits he couldn’t ignore.

Riddhima: Why are you following me?

Vansh: I’m not following you. I’m just walking beside you.

Riddhima: Can you please not rub your humour on me? That too, early in the morning.

Vansh stopped and held her elbow to turn her toward him. He’d been very diabolical and regardless of how much he wished he hadn’t behaved the way he had; he didn’t want to accept that he was beginning to regret it. After all, he was doing it for his family – his sister.

Vansh: Can you forget what’s happened between us for a while? It’s a pleasant morning and the two of us can just be nice to each other.

Riddhima: Do you think this is a joke? (pointing her finger at him) You’re planning to ruin my life and you want me to be nice to you? And that too, why? Because it’s a pleasant morning.

Vansh: Your arguments are very suffocating. Do you know that?

Riddhima (rolling her eyes): At least, something is suffocating you too. See how I’ve feeling since the past couple of days.

Vansh: Is it really necessary to do this here? I thought I’d found myself some good company.

Riddhima (beginning to walk away): Well then, I apologise to disappoint you. And I hope, that gives you a reason to leave me alone. (craning her neck over her shoulder) I don’t want to upset myself early in the morning.

Vansh (following her): Are you always this annoying?

Riddhima: And are you always this demanding?

Vansh: It’s not a lot I’m demanding for, though.

Riddhima turned around and looked at him, an expression of disbelief fleeting on her face. This man had demanded to control her entire life as per his wishes and he was telling her that he wasn’t demanding for a lot. If not for her mother, she could’ve sworn she’d throttle him and push him down the hill. His chapter would’ve ended and she would’ve been able to breath in relief.

Riddhima: What else do you want to demand from me?

Vansh: Can you live in the moment for once?

Riddhima exhaled harshly and turned around, trekking further. She was going to live in the moment and ignore the hate that spewed within her for this man. She wasn’t going to allow his presence spoil the beauty of this morning.

Vansh: Can you?

She continued trekking away from him and let his voice echo in the surroundings. She didn’t want to answer him and she held her silence, willing to ignore him, but as he began following her again, she surrendered and looked at him, her gaze turning sharp.

Riddhima: Fine! Can you please be quiet now?

Vansh: Can we be friends?

Riddhima faked a smile at him and folded her arms across herself. She had no idea how this man thought of him so greatly, but she didn’t. And she was going to ruin that stupid confidence of his.

Riddhima: Take it slow, Mr. Raisinghania. I just agreed for not talking about your stupid marriage proposal, sorry demand.

Vansh: Yet, you are talking about it.

Riddhima (inhaling deeply): How the h’ck are you this annoying?

Vansh smiled and hit his shoulder against hers in a friendly manner. Riddhima stepped away and stared at him pointedly, before brushing away her shoulders. How dare he touch her again and again?

Vansh: Learning from the best!

Riddhima (mimicking a face): Hasna tha? (Was I supposed to laugh?)

Vansh: Nahi, tum nahi has paogi. Tum rehne do. (No, you won’t be able to laugh. You let it be.)

Riddhima: Are you here to die, Mr. Raisinghania?

Vansh: Why do you keep calling me ‘Mr. Raisinghania’? You do know that I’ve a name, right?

Riddhima: ‘The eligible bachelor’ is too long.

Vansh: You think, you’re too funny, Riddhima?

Riddhima: No way! I was just told I have a very plain sense of humour.

Vansh: Which you certainly do.

Riddhima: Which I certainly didn’t disagree about.

Vansh (exhaling a deep breath): Has anyone ever told you how difficult you are to handle?

Riddhima: I’m surprised that’s coming from you. Has no one told you that you’re difficult to handle too?

Vansh: Why are you here, Riddhima?

Riddhima: Because we got an invitation from your side, Mr. Raisinghania. And apparently, my mom has fallen in love with your family, so she couldn’t let go of it.

Vansh: You know, you can call me Vansh, right? Mr. Raisinghania is too formal for friends.

Riddhima: But we aren’t friends. I don’t make friends so easily. And for you to be my friend, I’ve to think some thousand times. Especially after that day. You might as well ask us to be friends with benefits.

Vansh: You never stepped away, if I’ve to remind you. In fact, I was the one to walk away.

Riddhima: Because exerting power is your trait, not mine. Anyway, regardless of anything, we can’t be friends. There’s no way I’m going to be friends with you.

Vansh (stepping closer to her): Two days, Riddhima! You’d say it yourself.

Riddhima (smirking): Come back to reality, Mr. Singhania. Forcefully, I might agree, but with my own choice, there’s no way I’m being friends with you.

Vansh: You will agree with your own choice, I challenge you. And Vansh Raisinghania never loses!

Riddhima: In that case, you must be ready to lose, because this time, you will lose.

Vansh: We’ll see, Ms. Goenka!

That’d be it for this episode. Probably, not the best idea or episode, but I hope it isn’t too bad to discontinue reading the FF. Please let me know what you think of this episode and also, if any changes are needed, do suggest. Thank you for reading!
