Resolving: The Legend of Confused and Tangled Lives Part 3

IMLIE’S HOME, NOIDA 

Imlie is searching for Meethi, yelling, ”Ma, ma”. She walks towards the main road, looking left for a second and then right for another second. Suddenly, she sees Meethi getting down from an autorickshaw. She rushes towards her, “Ma, where had you gone, why didn’t you inform me? Why didn’t you take your phone along?” She asks all her questions at once, breathing heavily. Meethi pats her back, and tells her, “Imlie, my gudiya, come with me, I will unfold this secret for you.” Imlie gives her a confused look and walks away with her.

“Ma, tell me the truth, you never go anywhere without informing me , then why today? Where had you actually gone? And why do you appear to be so nervous to me?” Imlie asks.

Meethi looks at her, “What shall I tell my Imlie? How can I tell her where I had actually gone? How will she react? Will she ever accept it?” All these thoughts storm in her mind.

Imlie again asks, ” What happened Ma? Will you please tell me? Where actually did you go?” She looks at Meethi who is listless and isn’t responding at all. She holds her hand, “Ma?”

Meethi somehow gathers courage, to speak up, her lips tremble, but she manages to say, ” Imlie, beta, I- I had actually gone to seek help. Help for you.”

Imlie is surprised, she asks ” Help? What kind of help? From whom? We don’t need anyone’s mercy, we can be each other’s support. Whose help did you seek?”

Meethi just looks at Imlie, unable to say a word, tears roll down her cheeks, she stares at Imlie desperately. Pushing all her thoughts away, she somehow tries to speak, ” I- I went to your father, Dev”

Imlie is shocked, she looks at Meethi, then she looks up, then down, she falls on the ground, but she sits up, looking at Meethi she yells, ” Dev! Dev Sharma! How dare you go to him ? Ma how can you even take the name of that ruthless cheater here! You don’t remember what he did to you? What he did to me? What he did to his other family? And what did you say? My who? My father? My father? That useless mistake of a human being doesn’t deserve to be ANYONE’S FATHER, and you are calling him my, my father? How dare is he to try to be my father? He is my no one. He is not a human, he is a rascal, a monster, he has no authority, no rights over me or you! He is a coward, a liar, a cheater………” Imlie breaks down, giving a loud cry and continues yelling, ” I don’t have a father, I don’t have a father, how can you go to him Ma? How can you seek his help? How ????” She again falls down in hysterics and cries bitterly holding her head.

Meethi tries to go near her, but Imlie signals her to stop, to stop and to leave her alone. Meethi also weeps.

(Tujhe sabkuchh pata hai na ma) plays in the background.

CHATURVEDI HOUSE, HAUZ KHAS 

Asmita has come to visit Anu. Anu looks at the clock and says, ” Oh! We have gossiped for so long! And……. Asmita ji, shall we go to Malhar’s home once? Yesterday he had told that Sampda was feeling a bit uneasy and was unwell.” Asmita says, “Yes, why not? I think we must visit her once.”

MALHAR’S HOUSE, HAUZ KHAS

They walk out together and reach Malhar’s home. They knock, Sampada excitedly opens the door and says, ” So you finally came! ”  but as she looks up, she gets a bit off. Anu and Asmita smile. She greets them and welcomes them inside. Anu and Asmita sit on the sofa.

Sampada offers them some snacks and asks for coffee. They refuse politely and ask her to rest.

Anu says, ” Sampada, Malhar told that you were unwell. What had happened? Are you fine now?”

Sampada looks on nervously, she says, ” Unwell, when, no I wasn’t” She then realises something and says, ” Yes yes aunty, I was, I was unwell yesterday, I had some vomiting tendency and weakness. But I am fine now after taking medicines. ”

Asmita asks, ” And had you gone for your monthly checkup this month? You must take very good care of yourself as well as your little baby. The doctor has given you delivery date of after two months, right? ”

Sampada is thinking something, she doesn’t answer. Anu says, ” Sampada!” Sampada nervously nods and says ” Yeh yes aunty, what did you ask date yes date is of after two months. And checkup, yes Malhar had taken me for monthly checkup.”

Anu says, ” Ever since his mother’s death, Malhar has always considered us as his mothers, whenever you face any problem, we are always there for you. Afterall we are like your mothers as well……”

Sampada gets a call, she panics and disconnects it. Anu asks, ” What happened Sampada? Why did you disconnect the call? Maybe it’s something urgent. And why are you looking so stressed out? Are you alright?”

Sampada says, ” Yes, yes alright aunty, don’t worry, I am fine. Perhaps I just need some rest.” Asmita says, “Okay, take care of yourself Sampada, I and Anuji will leave now, we will come to meet you again. ” Anu says, ” Once again take care and very good care. Call us if you have any problem at any time of the day. Don’t hesitate. ” They smile at her and leave.

Sampada gets relieved and relaxes. She calls on the same number again which she had disconnected earlier and smiles.

Precap: Imlie throws all the things in her house here and there, cries and rushes out angrily, she is hit and falls back….
