The corona outbreak might have locked us inside our homes but there’s one good things which it has brought with itself. The channels are re running the old shows and there’s some brilliance with which it was all planned. Who ever thought of the idea to re run Ramayan and Mahabharata at this time, must be gloating with joy as there has been, for the first time in history, record breaking views of a show.
Ramayan began its re-run on the small screen from March 28, 2020 and garnered million of viewers in just first four shows. Ramayan is currently being telecast on DD twice in a day. The broadcasters are showcasing one episode in the morning and the followed up episode in the night. i.e at 9am and 9pm. Prasar Bharati’s CEO Shashi Shekhar shared this news on his Twitter account, of being thrilled to watch this mythological show get tremendous positive response.
Shashi Shekhar tweeted, “Thrilled to share that the re-telecast of RAMAYAN on @ddnational has garnered the highest ever rating for a Hindi GEC show since 2015 (source: @BARCIndia)”
This is the highest ever rating a Hindi language show since 2015 mentioned BARC. BARC’s chief executive Sunil Lulla also applauded this move of Prasar Bharti, terming in it as a ‘Brillant’ one and was left surprised how it was received positively by the viewers ever after so many years.
While opening episode garnered 34 million viewers with TRP rating of 3.4, the followed up episode on the same day spiked it viewers to 45 million with further rise in TRP rating to 5.2% . Amazing right?
