Ragsan — Cross Connection (Part 6)

A few weeks went by, as always Sanskar would annoy Ragini, leaving her absolutely aggravated. But she enjoyed the feeling. The teasing, the flirting gave peace to her. It made her feel the presence of someone special. She didn’t know why, but she enjoyed being with him, fighting with him. Being the stubborn person she as she never admitted her attraction.

There was a week left for the wedding. Ragini as always protested when everyone forced her to take the two weeks off, but she gave in after so much of forcing. Sanskar had taken a week off, since he didn’t really organize the whole thing. Ragini didn’t but her family made her.

Sanskar missed her. It was only a matter of two weeks, but it seemed like tow lifetimes. He knew deep inside, Ragini was also attracted to him, she would never admit it, but he just knew it.

It was the day of the sangeet and the start of the wedding. Th nanda family were goign to Khanna house to celebrate the sangeet. Nikhil was very excited, if it was in his hands, he’d marry Uttara right then.

Nikhil paced the living room impatiently. He had been ready for the past three hours, although there was an hour till the sangeet started.

“mom, maasi, Ragini, hurry up will you” he shouted impatiently

Surekha walked down, ready ” Nikhil, Uttara wont run away. stop shouting, you’ve been shouting for the past two hours”

Ragini walked down, half ready “bhai, stop getting impatient,. If you stop shouting we’ll be ready”

“but why aren’t you ready yet”

She hit her palm to her forehead “Bhai, stay quiet, I’ll be ready in half an hour”

“make sure its half an hour, no longer” ordered Nikhil

“don’t worry, stop pacing, it will help”

Ragini dressed into a metallic green lehngha, with light silver embroidery, whilst Nikhil wore a metallic purple kurta, with dark blue bead work, and a scarf to go around the neck.

To Nikhil’s wish, everyone was ready half an hour before. They reached khanna house fifteen minutes earlier.

Soon, Uttara descended down the stairs with a hot pink lengha, embroidered with light blue Dana work and purple beads spread out. Nikhil was ,mesmerized, watching his lady love descend down the stairs.

Sanskar himself couldnt help but notice how beautiful Ragini looked and seeing her smile so widely did nothing but enhance her beauty.

Ragini felt his piercing gaze. she looked up and couldn’t help but blush. The more she tried to control, the more she blushed. She knew deep inside she liked him, but she was too scared to admit it.

Sanskar stood to a corner, leaning on the wall, watching Ragini enjoy herself, dancing with others, teasing the host couple. She looked adorable. He caught her stealing glances, making him smile. Sanskar was stuck to his corner admiring her beauty when bauji patted his shoulder, taking him out of his trance.

“come on Sanskar, we need your help”

“for what?” Sanskar asked
antakshri, its men against women, and your standing here staring into space”

“ok, come on”

Sanskar sat next to Nikhil, who was accompanied by Sahil and other colleagues of angad, Ram and his colleagues and bauji.

Whilst Uttara sat directly in front of Nikhil, accompanied by Sanskar’s colleagues, Nisha’s friends and her own friends.

Sanskar looked around and saw Ragini standing in a corner “aren’t you playing Ragini”

“nahi” Ragini replied

“why, scared to lose” said Sanskar teasingly

“sacred, please, no way” Ragini answered back

“but it seems like it, isn’t that why you’re not playing” asked Sanskar

“I’m not scared” Ragini retorted

“Prove it” Sanskar challenged

“I will” Ragini said sitting next to Uttara, directly in front of him, whilst Sanskar gave her a challenging smirk.

“Ok, we will start” Sanskar announced

“very rude” Ragini muttered

“what’s so rude about that?”

“There’s a rule, ladies first”

“well, I don’t want that rule”

“but I want it”

“well I don’t care”

“but–”

Ragini was cut off “we are starting and that’s final”

“no, we are”

“we are” he argued

“I said we are”

“no, we are”

“cut it out will you Nikhil exclaimed. The two would start fighting anywhere.

“this is our sangeet, if you want to fight, go somewhere else”

“sorry” they apologized in union

“we’ll start” Nikhil announced, whilst Sanskar gave Ragini a smirk, showing he won.

teri aankhon ke matvaale kaajal ko mera salaam
Nikhil started

zulfon ke kale kale baadal ko mera salaam
Uttara replied

Gore Gore Yeh Chore
Gore Gore Yeh Chore
Yeh Ishq Ishq Chilaatein Hai
Oooh Yeah
Yeh Gali Gali Mand Raatein Hai
Oooh Yeah
Yeh Ishq Ishq Chilaatein Hai
Oooh Yeah
Yeh Gali Gali Mand Raatein Hai
Oooh Yeah
Shaadi Ki Degar Na Jaaye Magar
Yeh Gore Gore Se Chore
Yeh Gore Gore Se Chore
Yeh Gore Gore Se Chore

The game went quite well. At one point only Ragsan were competing, without giving anyone a chance. Nikhil and Uttara watched them, understanding there strange bonding. Sujata watched as well, noticing there comfort, there comfortable in an awkward way, always fighting, messing about like a couple.

She liked Ragini and would love to have her as her daughter in law but she wandered why they fought so much, although there love was clearly evident to her.

After the game, which seemed like the world war three in between Sanskar and Ragini, drum beats played, starting bhangra music, with people dancing everywhere, enjoying themselves.

Ragsan didn’t realize when they started dancing and when there dance became close.

Ragini loved the closeness but she was scared. She was scared to love any one because if she fell in love then she would want to marry him and if she married him she would have to leave her parents and live with him. She would leave her family and that’s what stopped her. She loved her family too much, she couldn’t leave them. She knew she had feelings for Sanskar but infront of her family she would reject the feelings. Her feelings were slowly taking her over which scared her.

she looked up to see Sanskar close enough to her and jerked back. she stepped back, whilst Sanskar watched her eyes glint in a mixture of emotions.

“what’s wrong?” he asked, taking her hand

She pulled her hand away “nothing”

“sure”

“yeah” and she walked out of the crowd to a corner leaving Sanskar confused.

The nanda’s were leaving, with the late night sangeet finishing a few moments ago. Ragini’s eyes were lowered, whilst Sanskar looked at her pleadingly, wanting a chance to talk to her, to know what she felt, whilst Sujata observed them.
