That night became darker with sadness and sorrow all over..ragini was still sitting there putting her head on her folded knees and was crying silently.. But then she realized something and looked up..she then wiped her tears and got up..She opened her door and went straight towards laksh's room.. And knocked at his door..laksh who was sleeping peacefully in his bed got up.. In a dizzyness with his half closed eyes…
Laksh: (looking at the clock confusingly) Raat ke 1:30 baje hain..iss waqt kaun hoga..?
She knocked again..
Laksh: (irritated) Arey khol raha hu yaar…
He came forward..opened the door and saw ragini..he got surprised and smirked.. she frequently came inside and shut the door and turned back..
Laksh: Arey ragini tum? Is waqt yaha? Kya baat hai? Shaadi ki baat ho jaane ke baad wait nahi ho raha na? (Smirked) mujhse bhi nahi ho raha.. To aao phir.. (Started coming closer) thoda kareeb se..
Just then ragini stopped him putting hands inbetween them..
Ragini: Ek minute… Kisi galat fehmi me mat rahiyega aap.. Humare liye ye koi shaadi nahi hai.. Ek samjhauta hai…jiske mutabik humari shaadi ho jaane ke baad aap humare bhai ko chhod denge.. Par ussey pehle aap hume humare bhai se milwayenge..
Laksh: (confused and shocked) main tumhe tumhare bhai se milwaunga? Apni trah bevakoof samjhti ho mujhe..?
Ragini: Hume aap par koi bharosa nahi hai.. Hum ek baar apne bhai ko apni aankho ke saamne dekhna chaahte hain.. (With teary eyes) Unke gale lag kar rona chahte hain.. Unko apne saamne khada hue dekhna chahte hain hum…
Laksh: Ok… Main milwa dunga tumhe tumhare bhai se.. Lekin uske liye tumhe parso hi mujhse shaadi karni hogi..
Ragini: (shocked) parso?
Laksh: Haan ragini parso.. Ab jab tumhe mujh par bharosa nahi hai to main tumpar bharosa kaise kar lu? Aur ab agar ye samjhauta hai to phir aise hi sahi… (Smirked and moved forward crossing her and turned back) Tum meri baat maano.. Main tumhari baat manunga…
Ragini: (determined..she turned back and looked into his eyes) theek hai.. Hum taiyaar hain..
Laksh: Ok then.. Kal subah taiyaar rehna.. Aur haan.. Apne bhai ki baato me aake apna iraada badalne ke baare me sochna bhi mat.. Warna tumhare bhai ko to main… (Grinded his teeth) khair tum samajh hi gayi hogi..
Ragini: Theek hai…
Then she was about to go out when laksh came in her way.. She looked at him in shock.. Laksh came closer to her..
Laksh: itni bhi kya jaldi hai jaane ki.. Mushkil se to aise mauke milte hain.. Aur waise bhi ab to humari shaadi hone wali hai so let's know eachother from a bit more closer..
He smirked and brought his face near hers..she got irritated.. and looked at him with determined red teary eyes..and stopped him putting hands on his chest..
Ragini: Shaadi hone wali hai.. Hui nahi..
She pushed him a bit and went aout of his room.. Laksh grinded his teeth but then he smirked and said to himself…
Laksh: Bass.. Iske baad ek aur raat hai ragini.. Aur phir uske baad to sirf tum..main aur humari suhaagraat.. Ab to tum poori trah se meri ho…bass meri ho..
Next day..
Ragini came out of her room and saw that the whole house was decorated.. Anpurna and sujata both were busy in there works..none of the males were at home.. Swara was sitting on the sofa and was avoiding everything that was happening…ragini saw swara and came towards her..
Ragini: sw…swara…
Swara looked at her..and started going from there without saying a word to her.. She completely ignored her.. Ragini still tried to talk to her.. So she stopped her holding her hand..
Ragini: Swara please… Please humari baat to suno..
Swara: (angrily but without looking at her) leave my hand.. I said leave my hand.. (She suddenly pulled her hand) Jo tum chahti thi wo main hone de rahi hu ussi me khush raho..( in a lower voice) aur ye sab bhi maine sirf isiliye hone diya kyunki tum sanskaar ki behen ho.. Ek bewafa..matlabi behen.. (Her eyes got red and teary)
Then she went from there.. And tears rolled down from Ragini's eyes..she wiped her face and came forward..she saw an old man with his hands full of two heavy baskets filled with flowers..he was weak it was really hard to carry those baskets for him..so she came to him
Ragini: Baba laaiye hum madad kar dete hain aapki..
Man: Nahi beta rehne do main kar lunga..
Ragini: baba deejiye..
She took a basket from his hand and followed him.. Suddenly her foot slipped and she was about to fall just then someone held her from behind.. It was aditya.. And all the flowers showered on both of them.. They both looked into eachother's eyes and got lost in them.. Aditya wanted that moment to stop there forever..but after sometime they both realised something and removed their eyes and got seperated.. Both of them got their eyes filled with tears.. Then aditya went from there.. And sujata came..looking at the flowers lying on the floor..
Sujata: Hey bhagbaan…je kya kar diya?
Ragini: (nervous) wo…wo..galti se…
Sujata: Arey thaare ko ke jarurat hai je sab karne ki? Tu to dulhan hai na?
Ragini: wo hume maaf…
Sujata: Rehne de… (Going from there) ke din aa gaye hain je ghar ke… Ek naukrani je ghar ki bahu..
Ragini got sad and tears filled her eyes.. Her life was getting spoiled and she couldn't do anything.. She was helpless.. The house was being decorated for her wedding..her wedding with the person she hated the most..Laksh… she turned back and bumped with someone who was standing just behind her.. She looked up..and he was none other that laksh.. He smirked looking at ragini.. He took a tear of her on his finger and sprinkled it away..
Laksh: In logo par in aansuo ko waste mat karo.. Ho sakta hai tumhare bhai par..
Ragini: (shocked) Humne bharosa kiya hai aap par…
Laksh: Isliye hi to meri jaan..isliye usko zinda rakhna pad raha hai.. Warna tumhe to main usko maarne ke baad bhi haasil kar leta…
Ragini: Aap hume humare bhai se milwane ke liye le jaane wale the..
Laksh: (giving clueless expressions) Really? Is that so?
Ragini looked at him angrily..He chuckled.. He held her hand.. And dragged her to anpurna..
Laksh: maa…suna aapne aapki bahu kya keh rahi hai..
Ragini looked at him confused.. Anpurna looked at them and smiled..
Ap: Kya keh rahi hai?
Laksh: keh rahi hai ki humne kabhi saath me waqt nahi bitaya.. To maa se ijaazat lo aur baahar ghumaane leke jaao.. (Smirked at ragini)
Anpurna looked at ragini and smiled.. And ragini also faked a smile..
Ap: to le jaao…
Laksh: dekha main keh raha tha na maa mana nahi karengi.. (Smiled at ragini) chalo..
Ap: accha suno ragini laksh… Jaldi aa jana beta.. Ab shaadi kal hi hogi to saari rasme aaj aur kal me hi poori karni hongi na.. Isliye..
Laksh: Aap chinta mat kijiye.. Hum jaldi aa jayenge..haina ragini? (Looking at her)
She faked a smiled and nodded in yes..then laksh held her hand and they both went out of there.. They both sat in the car..and laksh drove out….ragini was carefully looking at the places from where they were going.. Laksh took a look of her..
Laksh: Raasta yaad karne ki koshish kar rahi ho? (Smirked) but sorry baby beacuse….ab tum aisa nahi kar paogi…
Ragini looked at him..amazed.. Laksh stopped the car..
Ragini: (Confused) aapne gaadi kyu rok di?
Laksh didn't say anything and got out of the car..ragini looked at him and then all around.. She saw that it was an empty road between and there was a jungle on either sides of the road.. Ragini got scared.. Then laksh came to her side.. He opened the car's flap of her side and took her out..
Ragini: (scared) hum..hume kyu nikaal rahe hain baahar..? Kya kar rahe hain aap?
Laksh put his finger on her mouth..
Laksh: Sssshhhhh……
Ragini stopped and her eyes got bigger… Then laksh smirked..he took out his hankerchief.. Folded it making a long strip and place it on her eyes.. And came closer to her to tie a knott behind her head..ragini got surprised and nervous.. Laksh was that close to her that she could feel his warm breath on her face.. The she got seperated from him and said…
Ragini: (in a bit angry way) ye kyu kiya aapne?
Laksh: (smirked) kyunki ragini… Main stupid nahi hu jo tumhe sanskaar tak pahonchne ke poora raasta dikha dunga.. Chalo ab car me baitho..
He made her sit in the car.. But while getting back he touched her waist and belly.. Ragini got irritated and removed his hand immediately..And he smirked.. Then he also sat in a car and drove to a place where sanskaar was kept.. He took ragini out and took her to a room..she couldn't see anything..she could only hear the echo of their steps… Then laksh opened her eyes and ragini was infront of a window from which she could see sanskaar.. Sanskaar was very weak.. He was sitting on the floor his feet and hands were tied in ropes.. Ragini got emotional seeing her brother like that..and tears started flowing from her eyes.. Laksh saw her crying and smiled..
Laksh: baby.. Abhi zinda hai wo..
Ragini looked at him angrily..with her teary red eyes.. Laksh gave an expression to a man sitting outside of the room.. Ragini looked at the man..The man went into the room and started opening ropes from sanskaar's hands and feet.. He was doing so harshly so sanskaar cried…
Sanskaar: Ahhh…
Ragini got tensed and was about to go to him but then laksh held her arm..
Laksh: Ruk jaao ragini… (She turned to him) Tumhare bhai ko pata chala ki tum ye shaadi kyu kar rahi ho to wo ye shaadi kabhi nahi hone dega.. (Grinded his teeth) aur phir majboor hoke mujhe abhi usey maarna padega.. I hope ki tum sab sambhaal logi..
Ragini didn't react.. And went inside ignoring him… Sanskaar looked up and his drooling eyes got sparkled..he smiled and cried at the same time.. And same does Ragini.. She ran towards sanskaar and hugged him.. Sanskaar also hugged her back and both of them cried hugging eachother..
Ragini: (crying) bhai.. Aap kai..kaise hain? Kya haalat ho gayi hai..
Sanskaar: (weakly and crying) Main..meri chhod..tu..tu kaisi hai? Au..aur ya..yahaa kaise aayi?
Ragini: wo..wo hum..
Laksh came from behind..
Laksh: apne hone wale pati ke saath aayi hai.. (Smirked)
Sanskaar looked up and ragini kept quiet..sanskaar got shocked to see laksh standing there folding his arms on his chest with a smirk..
Sanskaar: (looking at ragini) k..kya?
Laksh: (coming forward) yes..mere hone wale brother-in-law.. Kal meri aur ragini ki shaadi hai.. Ye hi btane aayi hai ye tujhe..
Sanskaar: (shouted at laksh) tu chup kar.. Main apni behen se baat kar raha hu..
Ragini wasn't looking at him.. Only her tears were rolling down…
Sanskaar: Laado? Ye sab kya hai?
Laksh: Haan baby.. Batao apne bhai ko ki ye sab kya hai..ki main tumhara kaun hu aur (grinded) isey mujhse kaise baat karni chahiye.. Batao isey..(looked at ragini)
Sanskaar: (angrily) Laksh main tujhe jaan se..
Ragini: (without looking at him) bhai please.. Ye..ye humare hone wale pati hain..inse iss trah se baat mat kijiye..
Sanskaar got hell shocked hearing this.. He left ragini's hands..and laksh smirked at him..
Sanskaar: (got up in a rage) ye tu kya keh rahi hai.. Iss aadmi se shaadi karegi tu? Issey? Jis insaan ne apne matlab ke liye apne baap tak ka istemaal kiya ussey?
Laksh got angry on this and held sanskaar's collars..ragini got tensed and panicked.. She got up.. And started trying to remove laksh's hand..
Ragini: (tensed and crying) ye kya kar rahe hain aap.. ? Chhod dijiye humare bhai ko please..
Laksh: (looking at sanskaar angrily) to samjha lo apne bhai ko ragini… Ye shayad bhool gaya hai ki mere ek hi ishaare par ye iss duniya se jaa sakta hai..
Ragini: hum..hum baat kar rahe hain…chhodiye…
Laksh left him pushing him a bit..but looking at him with fires in eyes..
Ragini: bhai…bhai ye jo.. (Wiping her face) jo kuch bhi keh rahe hain wo sach hai.. Hum inse shaadi kar rahe hain..wo bhi kal hi…hum bass ye baat aapko batane aaye the..
Sanskaar: (shouting) kyu? Kyu tu issey..(pointing at laksh) issey shaadi kar rahi hai tu? Nahi ragini.. Tu zaroor kisi majboori me aisa kar rahi hai.. Par main tujhe aisa nahi karne dunga..
Ragini: Nahi bhai.. Hum apni marzi se inse shaadi kar rahe hain..(her eyes got teary but she still faked a smile) Ye hume chaahte hain.. Aur..aur hume wo sab kuch de sakte hain jo aap kabhi nahi de paaye.. Rani bankar rahenge hum shaadi ke baad..ye hi to chaahte the na aap bhi?
Sanskaar: Haan chaahta tha.. Main chaahta tha ki tu rani bankar rahe.. Par kisi jallaad se shaadi kar ke nahi… Ye shaadi nahi hogi..tu issey shaadi nahi karegi..
Ragini: bhai.. (Looked at him with determination) hum faisla kar chuke hain.. Shaadi ki sabhi taiyaaria'n bhi ho chuki hain.. Aaj shaam ko hume haldi aur mehndi lagne wali hai.. Aap bass apni laado ko ashirwaad dijiye.. (She sat in his feet touching them)
Sanskaar: (smiled with teary eyes) oh…. aaj meri chhoti si laado itni badi ho gayi ki apni shaadi ka faisla bhi le baithi.. Toh ab jab tune faisla kar hi liya hai to tu mere paas kyu aayi hai ragini…? Jaa apne pati ke saath.. Jaa..
Ragini got stunned looking at him.. Her tears dropped down..
Ragini: (crying) bhai..bhai please…
Sanskaar: (shouted) marr gaya tera bhai… Ab jaa yaha se.. Chali jaa..
He turned back saying this.. He was crying but didn't wanted to show her…and ragini was stunned.. Her brother for whom she was spoiling her entire life was not even looking at her.. She was completely broken now and was crying like hell.. Then laksh came forward to her..and made her stand up..
Laksh: ragini utho..main jaanta tha..ye iss layak hi nahi hai ki..anyways..chalo…
He raised his hand to wipe her face but just then ragini removed his hands away and looked at him with hatred.. Laksh smirked… He held her hand.. And took her out of that room… Then he again took his hanky out but then..
Laksh: I don't think iski koi zarurat hai ab..
He then put his hanky back in his pocket and they came out…ragini was still in shock and was still crying silently.. Then they both sat in the car and laksh drove back to maheshwari mansion…he came out of the car and opened the flap for ragini to come out too..she was still crying silently..she came out and was about to go inside just then laksh held her hand.. She stopped but didn't look at at him..
Laksh: Ragini.. I know tumhe iss time bohot bura lag raha hai.. But I promise (he lifted her face up.. made her look at himself and smiled) shaadi ke baad main tumhe itna pyaar dunga ki tum ye sab bhool jaogi..Aur haan..aaj ek baat bilkul sach kahi tumne.. (Cupped her face with both of his hands) Bohot chahta hu main tumhe..wo har khushi dunga jo tumhara bhai nahi de paaya tumhe.. Sach me rani bana kar rakhunga main tumhe..
Ragini was looking at him with her red teary eyes..and then she smiled in a satire..
Ragini: Hmm.. Aur ek baat humare bhai ne bhi bilkul sach kahi aaj.. (Her expressions changed into anger) jallaad hain aap…
Laksh's smiled slowly changed into a kind of anger..Then she removed his hands from her face and walked in..laksh looked on at her from behind angrily..
Laksh: (grinding his teeth) ek baar shaadi ho jaane do ragini..uske baad main btaunga tumhe ki jallaad kaisa hota hai..
Ragini came inside crying silently.. And was rushing towards her room..just then anpurna called her from behind..
Anpurna: Ragini? Ghoom aaye tum log?
Ragini didn't turn back..
Ragini: J…ji…
Then she went directly to her room..anpurna found her behaviour very weird.. Just then laksh entered.. Anpurna saw him..
Ap: (in a suspecious way)Laksh?.
Laksh: Haan maa..
Ap: sab kuch theek to hai na? Mera matlab hai tumhare aur ragini ke beech me…
Laksh: Uhhh…haan.. Sab theek hai.. Par aap aisa kyu puch rahi hain?
Ap: nahi wo ragini iss trah se andar gayi to..
Laksh: Haan…wo…wo baato baato me usey apni family ki yaad aa gayi..isliye shayad..
Ap: To kya uska iss duniya me koi bhi nahi hai?
Laksh: Nahi… Accha maa main apne room me rest karne jaa raha hu..
Ap: haan theek hai.. Tum araam karo…
Then laksh smiled and went towards his room.. On the other side ragini was crying in her room.. Sitting on her bed…just then her door knocked..
Ap: Hum andar aa sakte hain..?
Ragini immediately wiped her face..
Ragini: (nervous) maa aap puchh kyu rahi hain? Aaiye naa..
Ap: (smiled and entered) Ro rahi thi?
Ragini: N…nahi to… (Her eyes again got filled with tears..so she looked down)
Ap: (lifted her face up) maa bolti ho na hume? Phir apne aansu kyu chhupa rahi ho apni maa se?
Ragini burst into tears and hugged her..
Ap: (cried) bass beta..hum jaante ye pal kitne naazuk hain tumhare liye.. Shaadi ka din ek ladki ki zindgi ka sabse bada din hota hai.. Par iss waqt tumhare apne maa baba nahi hain isliye tumhe bura lag raha hoga.. Par ek baat humesha yaad rakhna beta..hum saas nahi.. Maa hain tumhari..koi bhi baat ho..bejhijhak bata sakti ho hume..
She cupped her face in her hands and wiped her tears..
Ap: aur koi khush ho na ho.. Hum bohot khush hain tum dono ke iss faisle se.. Ab ye rona dhona band karo aur araam karo.. Phir shaam ko tumahari haldi mehendi ki rasam bhi hai..
Ragini nodded in yes..and anpurna went from her room..
Ragini: (thinking) kaash..kaash hum aapko bata paate maa ki… (Crying silently)
In evening…
Everybody were in the main hall including all the family members..laksh was wearing a white kurta with golden border and white payjami..he was standing with his friend amar and was talking…
Amar: Bata naa yaar kaun hai wo?
Laksh: just wait and watch..
Amar: Please naa yaar..
Laksh smirked..Then a lady said to anpurna..
Lady: arey anpurna ji..kaha'n hai aapki bahu? Bulaiye usey bhi…
Ap: (smiled) ji..hum abhi laate hain usey..
Then anpurna walked from there..and after sometime she brought ragini to the main hall… She was looking extremely beautiful dressed in pinkish saari and jewels made up of pinkish flowers..laksh's eyes fell on her..and he got mesmerised by her beauty.. She was looking like the most beautiful girl ever… He now.. unknowingly smiled being mesmerised.. Aditya who was standing there on the otherside being broken looked at ragini.. And his eyes got stuck on her.. His heart started beating faster..but hen his eyes got filled with tears.. He removed heis eyes and looked down to avoid her..
Amar: (shocked) Abey lucky…ye to…ye to wahi..wo sanskaar ki behen hai na? (Laksh was lost) Lucky?
Laksh: (came to reality) k…kya hai?
Amar: Ye wo to sanskaar ki behen rag..
Laksh: Shhhh…chup reh Yaha'n kisi ko pata chal gaya to humgama ho jayega…
Amar: yaar lucky..tu sachme bohot lucky hai.. Finally tujhe ye mil hi gayi..haan? (Smirked)
Laksh also smirked…
Anpurna made ragini sit on a seat that was especially placed for her..ragini was sad.. and expressionless..then the ritual got started.. They applied haldi on her face and hands.. Then every lady came forward and applied haldi on ragini's face.. Then anpurna called swara..
Ap: swara..aao beta..tum bhi haldi lagao ragini ko..
Swara who was standing beside aditya was about to deny…but just then aditya held her hand.. She looked at him and he nodded his head in no to tell her not to do so… Swara agreed to that and came forward to ragini.. Ragini looked at swara.. And her eyes got teary.. Swara was angry and her eyes were teary to but she ignored looking at her.. She frequently applied haldi on her face and got up..then she went from there.. Ragini's tears rolled down out of her eyes but she immediately wiped them and faked a smile…
After some time all the rituals and customs were done and ragini was sitting in her room looking at hands covered with mehendi.. Tears were continuosly falling from her eyes.. She just didn't want to get married especially to that person whom she hated the most.. But she had no other option..anything she could do was.. Marrying laksh…she was completely helpless…
