He slowly removed heavy maroon curtains,pushed open grand window to embarce the new morning He deeply inhaled fragrance of sweet flowers which cool breeze brought with it He enjoyed warmth of sun on his muscular wet body which was only wrapped in white towel He turned his back as music of bangles echoed around For a moment,he felt ocean of beauty emerged in centre of his king size bed Her delicate skin shining like gold in rays of sun which were spoiling her peacefull sleep He pulled the curtains back watched her continuous till all frowned vanished from her angelic face He didn’t knew what & why his heart whispered. .He just follow it by removng the curtains again As the sharp sun ray fall again on her face,she stires tried to covered her eyes wid back of her hand
He pulled the curtains back but only till her breathing returns to a delicate rhythm Her hand slipped back to its position cause her bangles to create enchanting music Still his eyes on her,he removed the curtains Her nose twisted in the cutest way This time she turned to other side left her back for his view Urge to saw the flawless beauty made him walked toward the other side of bed He went closer to queen who own the whole universe or a butterfly who doesn’t belong to this universe He came to senses, stepped back as drops of water fall from his hairs on her face She sat up rubbing her eyes while he quickly moved to dresser,turning his back She looked around found him busy in dryng his hairs Noticing him all wet her hands automatically reached to her cheeks for wipping water from it She fixed her pallu was about to step down,paused noticng pillow & sheet on couch.
Ragini ( nervously ) : mujhe pata hi nahi chala kab meri aankh lag gai..mein yahan bed par so gaii.( I don’t know when sleep took over me nd I slept here on bed )
He was selecting his suit from closet,without looking at her he replied
Laksh : tumhare liye neend puri karna bohut zaruri hai doctor ne tumhe neend ki goli di hai.( U should complete your sleep well doctor prescribed sleeping tablets to u )
He again added noticing her face embarassed
Laksh : is haal mein tumhara bed par sona hi theek hai,men couch par theek hun.( Nd in this condition u should sleep on bed nd I’m ok with couch )
She looked up at him,he was about to wear his clothes but paused The growing heat of awkwardness forced them to looked away Well,nothing much left hidden between them but as somethings are difficult to admit in day light She slipped out from bed,turned her back from him She kept herself busy in folding sheet till then he passed infront of her completely dressed He unlocked the door started arrangng his files,mumbled to himself
Laksh : koi breakfast bhi nahi laya mein late ho raha hun
Ragini ( hesitately ) : mein lati hun.
She headed toward door but stopped as maya entered with breakfast laksh quickly took her blessings nd says
Laksh : aap ne kyun takleef ki kisi aur ke hath bhijva deti.( Y have u taken this work u could have sent it with any worker na ??? )
maya ( lovingly ) : sara din to tum kaam men lage rehte ho,is bahane mene tumhe dekh to liya.( Full day u will be busy with ur work na so I take it as a chance to see you )
She took sigh of relief noticing separate sleeping arrangements distance between them mean less chances of revelatn of her truth She smiled at ragini nd says
Maya : jaldi se nashta karlo,phir dawa leni hai. ( Take breakfast fast nd u should take medicine too )
He looked at breakfast tray which include all western mean nothing according to her taste
Laksh : jao tum neeche ja kar nashta karlo.( Go nd take breakfast at down )
Maya ( interrupting ) : nahi ye bahar nahi jaey gi.( No she won’t go out )
By listening to this They both looked at maya confuse.
Maya ( continues ) : sara din haveli mein logo ka aana jana laga rehta hai, abhi gaoun mein sab ko bacche ka nahi pata mein chahti hun kuch din aur pata na chale. . .jab tak ye yahien isi kamre mein rahe gi ( Full day in havelli people will come nd go nd no one knew about her pregnancy till now nd even I too want people to not to know about her pregnancy for some more days nd till then she will stay here in room itself )
He could read her face shows how much disappointed she was by this maya was about to left but laksh stops her nd says
Laksh : parathe aur achar bhijva di jye.( Please send parathe nd pickle here )
By listening to this maya looked at him in surprise but soon controls her facial expressions nd says
Maya : bhijvati hun.( Ok I will send )
By saying this She left them alone Eating a single bite more became difficult for him after sensing her beautiful face pale in sadness,Loneliness,disappointment,helplessness…all emotions filled in her silent eyes He got up,took his files,finally spoke to her
Laksh : ye books aese hi rakhi hein,tum ne parhi nahi? ( These books are here like this didn’t u studied ??? )
She remains silent so He again continues
Laksh : doctor ne dii hai to kuch soch kar hi dii hogi,parho aur ye cds bhi dekhna tumhare liye acha hai.( These were given by doctor so that means it’s worthy to read na even there are CDs be there see them they are good for you )
It was a silent help from him but she took it from his hand as order Uttara entered with breakfast(parathas) with confused she asks him
Uttara : maalik aap nashta kar chuke.( Sir ur breakfast completed na ??? )
Laksh : rakh do. .ragini nashta karlo,phir tum ne medicine bhi leni hai.( Keep it there…. Ragini eat ur breakfast nd u should take medicine too )
Uttara kept it down about to went bt he stopped her.
Laksh : mera room buht ganda ho raha hai,is ki saafai kar do.( My room is becoming so mess so clean it )
Uttara looked around confused at tidy walls nd says
Uttara : jii. .par wo badi maalkin. .( Sir…but mam )
Laksh ( while heading out ) : tum saafai karo mein unhe keh dunga aaj tumhe sara din yahen lage ga.( U clean here nd I will say her there today full u will have to do work here )
He went out while ragini stared behind him in pleasent surprise uttara excitedly hugged her from behind nd says
Uttara : sara din kya mein to shaam kr dungi. .buht sari baaten karenge buht maza aaey ga.( What full day full time I will do …we will talk alot nd will enjoy alot )
Ragini smiled widely by listening to uttara
Evening :
laksh stopped at stairs on Maya’s call.
Maya : beta tum office se kab aaey?( When have u come back from office??? )
Laksh : bs abhi aaya hun.( Just now I came )
Maya : tum fresh ho kar,ragini ke sath thori deyr ke liye neeche aa jao mere kuch khaas mehman aa rahe mein ne shehr se us ke liye saria aur jewellery mangvai hai,dekhna wo theek se tyar ho gai ho me in bulangi to neeche aa jana.( u get fresh up nd come down with ragini actually some important guest are coming I have brought some sarees nd jewellery from city nd asked her to get ready please check that she got ready or not nd when I call u both please come down )
He nodded went upstair She was in washroom so he went to terrace for making an important call After few minutes he headed back to room but paused at entrance seeing her struggling with sari Her creamy skin creating magic in wine colour fabric She gracefully wrapped sari around her perfect figure She was luking same old care free butterfly while drying her hairs He kept staring her reflection in mirror She put kajal in her shining eyes bangles dance on her delicate wrists
She tied her silky hairs in braid In last she put small matching bindi on her forehead & smiled like a little school girl He watched her without blink as her expressions change She curisly looked at her silky arms which were more exposed than usual in baby sleeves of blouse She slightly turned,look in mirror over her shoulder Her knitted brows telling she didn’t like how much the stylish blouse exposing her back She let her hairs fall on her shoulders for covering her back,the way he loved She smiled contently,mumbling something under her breath she tied her hairs in bun She wrapped da silky pallu around her waist,thoughtfully headed toward her stitching stuff She frozed to saw him standing,not only standing but staring at her Her innocent eyes moved between him & locked door so by seeing this laksh thinks to clear her confusion so he says
Laksh : me in tumhare room lock karne se pehle aaya tha,jab tum washroom mein thi.( I have come before u locked the door when u r in washroom )
Her face flushed as her mind registerd his words She straightend her pallu nd stammerd He couldn’t express in words how adoreable she look in these red blush on cheeks & glint of shyness in eyes Sight of her rosy lips digged out forbidden desire in him She passed away from him,unable to bear his gaze which made her feel,thought. . .she never did before He went to washroom She sat on bed,so confused how only his precense brought heat inside her laksh looked for words to change the awkward atmosphere nd says
Laksh : tum ne book parh li? ( Have u read d book???)
She jumped on his sudden question,nd with stammering she says
Ragini : parh rahi hun.( I’m reading )
She open the book which was placed near her,on bed side table He took her confused sentence as ‘she has been readng since morning’ While drying his hairs He stole the glance of page which she was reading His eyes snapped open after reading the title ‘S*x during pregnancy’ He was shocked nd sat infront of her in couch He open his laptop but his clouded mind was still around her The more he look,found her more engrossed in reading He was shocked,confused,puzzled. .he was everything! How can ‘this type of girl’ read this kind of stuff. .so casually that too infront of him? Now the way she looked at him in between made him more puzzled ‘what could all this mean?’
A voice whisperd inside him ‘Maybe she is giving some hint?’
He shook his head in No ‘its impossible’ but then he thought about ‘special problems in these days To confirmed she was not sleepng with open eyes,he asked her
Laksh : achi book hai naa. .mein ne parhi hai ‘accurate’ likha hai.( It’s nice book na I had read it nd it’s ‘accurate’ about it na )
She slightly noded in yes He cleared his throat,sure of his confidence walked to her She looked up at him His words stuck in his throat.. He cleared his throat
Laksh : tumhe koi problem hai? ( Do u have any problem ??? )
She remain silent which asusual he take as Yes
Laksh coughed : mein doctor ko call kar deta hun. .tum apni problem ke liye us se baat kar lena. ( I will call to doctor ….then u can say ur problem with her )
Ragini ( innocently ) : nahi. .doctor se to koi baat nahi karni.( No…i don’t want to talk with doctor )
He sooth the tensed muscles behind his neck,he never felt so helpless before.
Laksh ( hesitatly ) : to phir batao kya baat hai? ( Then say what is your problem )
She quietly looked down.
Laksh ( finally put finger on page ) : ye problem hai? ( Is this the problem ??)
She nodded in yes,before she spoke a word he turned his back nd says
Laksh ( stammeringly ) :aa. .mein. .mujhe samjh nahi aa raha mein kya kahun?. . tumhe jo bhi kehna hai,jo bhi is baat ka hal hai. .mujhe bata do. U know what i mean? . .( Aa…I… I’m understanding what to say ??….what ever u want to say,w hat is the condition of this situation…u can say to me…u know what I mean ??? )
She slowly : aap mujhe dusri book la den.( Can u bring me another book )
Laksh : ‘What???’. .
He was shocked nd he turn to look her
Ragini ( hesitatly ) : doctor ne kaha hai parhna zaruri hai. .to aap mujhe dusri la den ye mujhe parhna nahi aata.( Doctor has told that to read this book is compulsory ….so can u bring me another book I don’t know how to read this )
His jaw dropped,eyes poped out In disbelief he stare in space for minutes He brust into laugh thinking what could happen if this confusion last more five minutes He paused seeing her nose all red
Ragini ( snapped ) : hasne ki zarurat nahi hai. .mujhe hindi parhna aata hai aur hisaab bhi buht acha hai,meri maa ne parhaya tha. Angrezi pharne wala school buht dour tha,mere baba nahi the jo mujhe itna dour le kr jata.( There is no need to laugh….I know how to read Hindi nd I know maths too my mom had taught me English medium school is so far my dad is not there to take me there to study )
Laksh ( shook his head ) : No. .No mein tum par nahi hansa. .is mein jo likha tha. .forget it.( No..no ..I haven’t laughed at u …in this what had written is… forget it)
Laksh ( softly ) : mein tumhare liye hindi men books le aaunga..( I will bring hindi books for u )
He picked the book,close it,kept it back in shelf Unknwngly he laughed again remembering his own stupidty Unable to bare insult anymore she went out annoyed In washroom,her eyes became wet as her stomach ache in vomit She closed her eyes felt too weak to stand Her eyes shut open feeling sooth on her back,full of love & care She recognize him without looking back Because only his touch couldd reach her each cell.
Laksh ( worriedly asked ) : tum theek ho? ( R u fine ??)
She slowly moved away,looked at him nd says
Ragini : mein theek hun. ( I’m fine )
He moved near her about to guide her to room
Laksh : chalo aaram karlo .( Come take rest )
She had feelng of second vomit,
Ragini ( hesitatly ) : aap jaeyn men aa jaungi.( U go I will come )
Laksh ( worriedly ) : tumhari tabyat zyada kharab hai,to hum doctor ke paas chalte hen.( Ur health is worsen we will go to doctor )
Ragini holdng her head, nd shook in No nd says
Ragini : aap bahir jaeyn men aa jaungi.( Please u go out I will come )
She turned on the tap to wash her face,unfortunately wrong one that cause the shower on laksh who was standng infront of it became wet from head to toe ragini looked at him with puppy face laksh sighed nd says
Laksh : ab tum jao,mein aata hun.( Now u go I will come )
Later at night :
He again caught her eyes looking at him desperatly He kept his file down nd asks
Laksh : tumhe kuch chahey?( Do u want something??)
She nodded in no walked to water jug He watched as she drank little from glass She kept glass down walked to door He asked her to stop
Laksh : kahan ja rhi ho?( Where r u going ?? )
Ragini ( stammeringly ): wo uttara. .
Laksh ( got up ) : tumhe thanda pani chahey?. .men le aata hun.( U want cool water???…I will bring )
Ragini ( quickly ) : me in khud le aaungi.( I myself will bring )
Laksh : tum itni siryan utro chro gi. .men le aata hun.( R u going to go down by these many stair steps nd again climb up …no…I will bring )
He came back with cold water bottle,which she placed on table without drinking.
Ragini : uttara nahi thi neeche?( Is uttara there at down ?? )
Laksh : mein ne dhyan nahi diya.( I haven’t observed )
Before she stopped him he again went down She looked him hopefully when he came back
Laksh : nahi shayd so gai. .buht raat ho rahi hai tum bhi so jao.( No…she isn’t there I think she slept…it’s too late even u too go to sleep )
He could read disappointment on her face
Laksh : tumhe jo chahey mujhe bata do.( If u want anything say me )
She stare him & then finally utters
Ragini : mujhe. .lemon chahey.( I want lemon )
Laksh ( confused ) : kyun.(y?)
Ragini : mujhe khana hai.( I want to eat )
Laksh ( made face ) :pagal ho?. .gala kharab ho jay ga.( R u mad???..ur throat will be spoiled )
By saying this laksh sat on study table nd again says
Laksh : so jao,buht raat ho gai hai.( Sleep it’s too late )
Ragini ( annoyingly) : mujhe neend nhi aa rhi.( I’m not getting sleep )
He sighed went down stair,come back witg lemon He handed her nd says
Laksh : khalo aur so jao.( Eat nd sleep )
She looked at him in disbelief.
Laksh ( realised ) :oh mein katna to bhool hi gya. .( Oh no i forgot to bring knife )
Laksh ( with tiredness ) : tumhe buht man kar raha hai?( Do U want to eat it badly ?? )
She nodded in yes.
Laksh ( sighed ) : mein knife lata hun. ( I will bring knife )
He came wid plate full of cut lemons nd gives it to her
Laksh : ye lo.( Take it )
She happily just pick half piece of lemon.
Laksh ( in disbelief ) : bas ? ( Is it enough ?? )
Ragini ( innocently ) : haan mujhe bas itna chahey. ( Yeah it’s enough for me )
She happily walked to terrace while he look at his tried legs & full plate of lemon which smell gave him headache
Laksh : pagal ladki !( Mad girl )
